Aptly titled Premante with the quirky tagline Thrill-U Prapthirasthu!, the film promises a romantic ride packed with humour and heart. The first-look poster, unveiled by Yuva Samrat Naga Chaitanya, showcases a cozy and charming scene between the lead pair. Seated beside a window, both Darshi and Anandhi sip from mugs, their relaxed postures and soft smiles hinting at the easy chemistry their characters share. Technically, the film boasts an impressive lineup. Adithya Merugu serves as co-producer, while Vishwanath Reddy, recipient of the Gaddar Award for Gaami, handles the cinematography. Music is composed by Leon James, whose chart-topping work in Dragon adds weight to the project. ‘Kuberaa' starring Dhanush, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Rashmika Mandanna, to stream on Prime Video soon

Kuberaa, the Telugu-Tamil crime drama starring Dhanush, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Rashmika Mandanna, will have its OTT debut on Prime Video on July 18, the streaming platform announced on Friday (July 11). Helmed by director Sekhar Kammula, the film also features Jim Sarbh and Dalip Tahil in pivotal roles. It was released in theatres on June 20. Prime Video shared the announcement on its X handle. Kuberaa centres around Deva (Dhanush), a humble vagrant from Tirupati whose life takes an unexpected turn when he is unwittingly entangled in a dangerous conspiracy. When Neeraj Mithra (Sarbh), a power-hungry corporate tycoon, uncovers a hidden oil reserve, he blackmails disgraced ex-CBI officer Deepak Tej (Nagarjuna) into helping him seize control of it. Deepak orchestrates an elaborate conspiracy using Deva — but when Deva escapes, all hell breaks loose, triggering a deadly pursuit. The Hindu's review of Kuberaaread, 'Kuberaa leaves a few questions unanswered towards the end. These niggles stop the story from being wholly compelling. Music composer Devi Sri Prasad, who deftly switches between the different worlds, makes us overlook a few rough edges with his score that is sometimes subdued and at other times, rousing. Kuberaa falls short of being a game-changer. But it is a brave film from a director who has often stepped away from the norm and raised pertinent questions. That is ample reason to cheer.' The film has cinematography by Niketh Bommi and production design helmed by Thota Tharani. Produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Rammohan Rao under the banner of Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and Amigos Creations, the film was released in five languages — Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Dhanush's Kuberaa Underperforms In Tamil Nadu, Director Sekhar Kammula Reacts

Last Updated: Kuberaa, directed by Sekhar Kammula, excels at the Telugu box office but underperforms in Tamil Nadu despite Dhanush's lead role. While Kuberaa has been making waves at the Telugu box office, the film's performance in Tamil Nadu hasn't matched expectations even with Dhanush in the lead. Director Sekhar Kammula, who helmed this ambitious bilingual project, has now weighed in on the mixed regional response. 'In Telugu it has been exceptional. Even the overseas Tamil circuit is going well. But the domestic Tamil market, I was expecting lot more, and I hope it would catch up, because the word of mouth is strong but it is not converting into box office," Kammula told OTTplay. Shot simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu, Kuberaa was crafted with a pan-India vision. Yet, the buzz in Tamil Nadu hasn't translated into ticket sales. Kammula remains optimistic, especially given the appreciation for Dhanush's performance as a beggar, a role that, he believes, few actors would dare to take up. 'I was in awe of him and thought it was a moment of pride. So, I thought it would catch on in Tamil and really hope that it happens. It is not common that this kind of stories come up often and people take up such roles. I thought it is a special thing and I have a hope," he added. Kuberaa is a 2025 Indian crime drama directed by Sekhar Kammula, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Chaithanya Pingali. Backed by Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and Amigos Creations, the film was shot simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil. The ensemble cast features Dhanush in the lead, alongside Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna, Jim Sarbh, and Dalip Tahil. The project was officially announced in June 2021, with principal photography taking place between February and April 2024. The title Kuberaa was revealed in March 2024. The film's technical crew includes Devi Sri Prasad as the music composer, Niketh Bommireddy handling cinematography, editing by Karthika Srinivas, and production design by the acclaimed Thota Tharani. Kuberaa hit theatres worldwide on June 20, 2025. The plot follows four individuals, including a beggar, who are handpicked to serve as benamis in a high-stakes corporate scam. Dhanush plays the role of Deva Kallam. First Published:

Kuberaa Worldwide Week One Box Office: Dhanush and Nagarjuna starrer clocks Rs 101 crore globally, aims at good second weekend

Kuberaa, starring Dhanush, Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna, and Jim Sarbh, has wrapped its opening week on an impressive note. Directed by Sekhar Kammula, the movie stormed past the Rs 100 crore mark in its first week; however, it had scope to do much better. Kuberaa performs best on weekends, needs to show a good jump on the 2nd weekend Bankrolled by Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP, the crime drama collected Rs 75.50 crore gross in India while it raked in over USD 3 million from overseas (Rs 26 crore), taking the total cume to Rs 101 crore gross globally by the end of its first week. It started off on a solid note but slipped on the weekdays. The Sekhar Kammula directorial needs to show better trends in the second weekend and then on the weekdays in order to register a banger theatrical run at the box office. The day-wise box office collections of Kuberaa in India are as follows: Day Gross Friday Rs. 17.00 cr. Saturday Rs. 17.75 cr. Sunday Rs. 18.50 cr. Monday Rs. 7.50 cr. Tuesday Rs. 6.00 cr. Wednesday Rs. 4.75 cr. Thursday Rs. 3.75 cr. Total Rs. 75.50 cr. Day Gross Friday Saturday Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Total Kuberaa fares better in Telugu than the Tamil version The first week figure could've been much higher, if it had performed well in the Tamil version as the movie has a Tamil star as the main lead. In fact, Kuberaa turned out to be one of the worst performing movies of Dhanush in its home turf. The crime drama performed far better in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. While the movie grossed Rs 21.75 crore in Nizam, Rs 5.75 crore in Ceded and Rs 21 crore in Andhra Pradesh, it could only gross Rs 17 crore in Tamil Nadu. All eyes are now on its box office trends in the second weekend. If the movie manages to see significant jumps, it shall hit a healthy final number. The territorial breakdown for Kuberaa is as follows: Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more. Disclaimer: The box office figures are compiled from various sources and our research. Kuberaa Box Office Day 6: Dhanush-starrer Head Towards Rs 70 Crore Mark

Last Updated: The film explores the themes of ambition, morality, power dynamics, and the consequences of wealth and its pursuit. Kuberaa, starring Dhanush, Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna and Jim Sarbh, has opened to strong reviews from both audiences and critics. Directed by Shekhar Kammula, the film premiered on June 20 and had an impressive opening, earning Rs 14.75 crore nett across all languages in India. Now, just six days after its release, Kuberaa is nearing the Rs 70 crore mark at the domestic box office. According to the film collected Rs 4.03 crore on Wednesday, pushing its total six-day earnings in India to Rs 65.28 crore. Kuberaa follows the story of a beggar, Deva (played by Dhanush), who undergoes a dramatic transformation, exploring themes of money, power, and ethical dilemmas. The film delves into how different characters navigate these themes and the consequences of their choices, with a focus on the journey from poverty to immense power. In the film, Nagarjuna played the role of a CBI Officer Deepak, while Rashmika played Sameera and Jim was seen as a corrupt CEO named Neeraj. Backed by Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and Amigos Creations, the film was shot simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil. Agoram Panneerselvam wrote the Tamil dialogues. Recently, the makers of Kuberaa organised a success bash for the film, attended by the entire cast along with the Chief Guest Chiranjeevi. During the event, Dhanush lauded filmmaker Sekhar, claiming that he had debunked the misconception that only action films could draw audiences to the theatres. He said, 'Slowly, the theatrical run is becoming a question mark. You know, to bring an audience to the theatre, you feel and people are under the impression that there is a myth that is being developed that you need an action spectacle, big film, big choppers flying everywhere, bombs blasting, blood everywhere, that's the kind of like you need people to come to the theatres." Kuberaa faced big competition with Aamir Khan's comedy-drama Sitaare Zameen Par, especially in the North chain. Dhanush will be next seen in the drama film Idly Kadai along with Arjun Vijay, Nithiya Menen and Sathyaraj. It is scheduled to hit the screens in October this year. Apart from that, he also has director Aanand L Rai's much-anticipated Tere Ishk Mein in his kitty. First Published: June 26, 2025, 12:06 IST
