Srinidhi Bengaluru Interview: Video isn't the traditional found-footage experience
But Video isn't a traditional found-footage experience. 'We've used the 'screenlife' format—think C U Soon, Searching, or Control,' Srinidhi reveals. 'Then the narrative evolves—it shifts into docu-drama, includes dramatised segments, and later, actual retrieved footage becomes central to the story. It's a hybrid structure that helps us explore fear from different angles.' A major coup for the film is roping in Sameer MD, the popular YouTuber known for his spine-chilling horror narrations. 'We shot Sameer's portions before his video on the Sowjanya case went viral,' says Srinidhi. 'His credibility was already strong, and we knew he could anchor the film's tone perfectly. Our target is college-goers and social media audiences—this hybrid structure and his presence bridge that gap.' The teaser, which has garnered an overwhelming response, introduces five more characters, all of whom play content creators. 'This digital-native tone defines both the aesthetic and the texture of Video,' Srinidhi notes. With a heavy emphasis on sound, the film focuses as much on what's heard as what's seen. 'This genre doesn't support traditional screenplay structures,' he says. 'Events have to carry the story. I studied what worked—and more importantly, what didn't—in other found-footage films. Our editing and narrative rhythm are unique.'

The teaser to Srinidhi Bengaluru's sophmore film Video was released on Saturday. Produced under Dheekshith Shetty's Dhee Cinemas banner, the movie is set to revive the found-footage horror genre after a long gap in Kannada cinema. Then, we are shown, two women who are in on a quest to investigate the presence of ghosts. Interspersed with cuts of gory shots, the tone of the film is made evident – one of gore and horror. We are then introduced to a group of friends who vlog their lives for the internet and then chance upon the haunted place in due course. The video of their time at the place ends up becoming the last video on the channel. The teaser drums up the mystery about the film aptly. 'The film is shot in a vlog format and documentary style as well,' Srinidhi tells The Hindu. 'We have used minimal lights to do justice to the genre. The film is shot using GoPro, DSLR, Osmo and mobile cameras to produce the effect of watching a found-footage movie,' says Srinidhi. Bharatha, Jeevan Shivakumar, Tejesh SM, Priya J Achar and Nalme Nachiyar are the actors in the movie. 'Dheekshith is set to play a special role,' says Srinidhi. Srinidhi Shetty reveals she was selective about scripts even before 'KGF' release
Actress Srinidhi Shetty , who has been receiving praise for her performance in ' HIT: The Third Case ', recently addressed the misconception that she became selective about her film choices only after the blockbuster success of ' KGF '. While speaking with IANS the actress said that her careful approach to picking roles started well before her debut in 'KGF' which was released in 2018. She also said, "So, I was selective even before my first movie came out, it wasn't that after 'KGF: Chapter 2' I became selective. It was genuinely my conscious choice since the beginning. 2016 I signed 'KGF', 2018 December the film got released, I had not signed anything else, multiple scripts, narrations happened, then 'KGF: Chapter 2' happened". She shared that even before 'KGF' hit the screens, she was already turning down offers to focus on the right projects. After signing 'KGF' in 2016, she deliberately waited for the film's release before committing to other scripts, despite receiving several offers in Kannada cinema . This selectiveness was a conscious decision from the beginning of her career, not a change that happened after 'KGF Chapter 2' became a blockbuster. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Ultra-thin smart 2-in-1 laptop notebook Shop Now Undo Srinidhi also talked about her choice to work in 'Cobra', a film that didn't perform well at the box office. She said, "I met Nani at the muhurta pooja of a film because he happened to be the director's friend and then from there we clicked, and eventually 'HIT: The Third Case' happened".
