Volunteers shave heads to raise money for childhood cancer research
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Many people shaved their heads for a good cause on Saturday.
Penguin City hosted the St. Baldrick's Shave-a-Thon fundraiser in Youngstown.
All the money raised goes to the St. Baldrick's Foundation for childhood cancer research.
They've already raised over $50,000.
About 75 volunteers signed up to get their heads shaved, all to support children with cancer and to help raise awareness.
'It means a lot. When we started this three years ago, we were just in the corner back there with a few people and now we have the whole building. So it means a lot to us. This is all for the kids,' organizer Jason Cottrill said.
St. Baldrick's is the number-one funder of childhood cancer research grants.
