Sip on these summertime spritz specials at Time Out Market

There's something truly special about summertime in New York. It seems like, in a way, the city finally cares about our well-being, blessing us with free movies in the park, outdoor music festivals and beachside fireworks each and every Friday. But even the simplest things give us joy, like having a spritz in hand and finally enjoying the summer sun at one of our fine rooftops. Luckily, the crew at Time Out Market agree, so much so they recently dropped a series of spritzes ripe for the taking. Just in time for the season, Time Out Market has released its summertime spritzers menu. Four effervescent drinks can now be found at either bar, from the cool reprieve that is the basement-level bar, the Lobby Bar, to the sunshine-speckled terrace on the 5th floor, the Roof Top Bar. Naturally, you can't go wrong with the classic that is the Aperol Spritz. The semi-polarizing yet surprisingly refreshing drink is made with Aperol, a splash of prosecco and club soda, plus an orange slice for garnish. But if your tastes lean more floral than bitter, the Hugo Spritz is sure to be the drink of your summer, stirred with St. Germain, prosecco, club soda and sprigs of mint. The Purple Daze is likely to cause the most buzz, almost guaranteeing that at least one fellow patron will ask you, 'What are you drinking?' Getting its deep purple hue from the addition of Crème de violette, the sparkler is made even more complex with a splash of the citrusy and herbaceous number, Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto. For the ultimate spritz experience, we recommend the following: commandeer one of the tables on the patio or take over one of the many couches upstairs, order a spread for you and crew (perhaps a few handrolls from Mori Mori or a scoop or two from Sugar Hill Creamery, perhaps?) and cheers to the sun.

The best rooftop bars in Singapore

What is it? A new rooftop bar on Esplanade Mall's iconic rooftop, occupying a 5,000 sqft space. Why we love it: The first thing you'll notice at Baia is the view of Marina Bay – plus points if you opt for a seat by the patio. The bar is named after the ancient holiday resort city frequented by the Roman aristocracy, so expect no less than an atmosphere of reverie and celebration, amped up with DJ performances every few days. Baia enlists the help of Proof & Co, the consultancy behind successful venues like 28 HongKong Street, to craft its tipples. Try everything from the Campari-based Strombolian to indulgent blends of aged cognac, espresso and vanilla choco. Time Out tip: The perfect sundowner comes in the form of a tropical punch bowl to share with friends. Try the Oasis Punch with St. Germain and Prosecco.

Broken Shaker LA Relaunches Under Authentic Hospitality

Broken Shaker Broken Shaker LA, the rooftop cocktail bar perched above the Freehand hotel in Downtown Los Angeles, kicked off its 2025 season on May 8 with a fresh team at the helm and a new slate of drinks and bites. The space is now operated by Authentic Hospitality, the New York-based group behind buzzy venues like Ray's, Jac's on Bond and Pebble Bar. This marks Authentic Hospitality's first Los Angeles venture—and it's not a quiet entrance. The group, led by nightlife veterans Matt Kliegman, Carlos Quirarte and Matthew Charles, was tapped last year to revamp the Broken Shaker brand, starting in Miami. Their takeover of the LA location brings a reimagined cocktail menu, a refreshed design by Melissa Bowers, and a new food program with serious culinary firepower. 'We're reigniting the energy of Broken Shaker LA while maintaining what makes the concept so beloved,' says Charles. 'LA will see a slate of programming centered on music, nightlife and industry culture, alongside great food and drinks.' Broken Shaker Rooftop Bar Located on the Freehand's 13th floor, the rooftop bar has always leaned into tropical escapism—with palm fronds, poolside views and a menu of fruity, easy-drinking cocktails. This season continues that theme with drinks like the Electric Warrior, made with Absolut Elyx, St. Germain, and lemon-lime cordial and Breakfast in the Moonlight, a passionfruit-spiked take on a zombie. There's also a tangerine-laced Verbena Spritz on the non-alcoholic side, plus a punch bowl that serves up to a dozen. Broken Shaker Cocktail The food menu comes from acclaimed chefs Jeremiah Stone and Fabian von Hauske Valtierra, known for their work at NYC's Contra and Wildair. They've built a lineup of Pan-Latin and Caribbean-inspired dishes meant to complement the setting—easy to share, packed with flavor and just bold enough to keep things interesting. Broken Shaker Menu 'We wanted to create something craveable but unexpected—dishes you could snack on poolside, but that still reflect a sense of place,' says von Hauske Valtierra. 'The jerk chicken sandwich hits hard, but there's also a brightness and depth to the ceviche that makes it perfect for LA.' Guests can expect smaller plates like carne asada fries and ceviche made with pink Gulf shrimp, red onion, jalapeño, cilantro, avocado, and passionfruit, served with fried plantains. Skewers—like grilled coconut curry shrimp with cabbage, peppers, and onions—round out the casual, snacky vibe. The sandwich game is strong too, led by the jerk chicken with slaw on a potato bun. Authentic Hospitality now oversees Broken Shaker in Miami, New York, and Los Angeles, with the Chicago location set to relaunch later this year. The group also runs several venues within Freehand New York, including Bar Calico and Smile To Go. 'Broken Shaker has become a key part of what makes Freehand feel like home for both travelers and locals,' says Annajane Güzel, Global Director of Brand Marketing for Freehand and Generator. 'We're excited to continue that legacy with a team who knows how to build places people want to return to.' Broken Shaker Pool Broken Shaker LA is open daily from noon to midnight. Food service runs until 7 p.m. on weekdays and 8 p.m. on weekends. The bar is located at 416 W. 8th Street. Reservations available via OpenTable.

Pics: Teacher urges Secret Service to assassinate Trump

A high school English teacher called for the United States Secret Service to assassinate President Donald Trump and claimed that 'Trump and his cronies need to die' in a series of posts on Facebook last week. In a Tuesday post on Facebook, JoAnna St. Germain, a teacher at Waterville Senior High School, wrote, 'The Secret Service has the perfect opportunity, if they choose to step up and take it. You are the ones with the power. Coordinate. Take out every single person who supports Trump's illegal, immoral, unconstitutional acts.' 'I'm talking about Americans recognizing a fascist dictatorship and standing against it,' St. Germain added. 'Secret Service, you are Americans. My beloved military, you are Americans. We, the people, are counting on you. If I had the skill set required, I would take them out myself.' In her Tuesday post, St. Germain said she was 'not talking about assassinating a president' since a president is 'a person duly elected by the American people.' The high school teacher claimed that Trump has 'bragged' about 'stealing the election.' In a Wednesday Facebook post, St. Germain reiterated her call to have Trump and his allies killed, saying, 'I posted knowing I'd likely lose my job and benefits. I have zero shame about what I've said. I'm not backtracking a single thing.' She added, 'I believe Trump and every sycophant he has surrounded himself with… needs to die.' In another post on Facebook, St. Germain acknowledged that people were 'quite angry' with her for 'stating openly that Trump and his cronies need to die.' In an emailed statement shared by The Maine Wire, Waterville Public Schools Superintendent Peter Hallen addressed the teacher's social media statements. 'Please know that I have taken steps to ensure everyone's safety and am, along with the appropriate authorities, actively investigating the incident,' Hallen wrote. 'While I cannot comment on personal matters, I assure you that due process and the safety of our students and staff are my highest priority.' St. Germain appeared to issue a response to Hallen's comments in a follow-up post on social media. 'To be clear, publicly: I knew what I was doing when I did it,' the Waterville teacher said. 'I'm not the least f-cking sorry.' A picture of St. Germain was shared by The Maine Wire on X, formerly Twitter, alongside a screenshot of one of her posts last week. Maine high school teacher calls for deaths of Trump and his supporters in Facebook posts

A Maine high school English teacher's Facebook posts went viral after she called on the U.S. Secret Service to "take out" people who support President Donald Trump's "illegal, immoral, unconstitutional acts" and also called for the president's death. "The Secret Service has the perfect opportunity, if they choose to step up and take it," Waterville Senior High School teacher JoAnna St. Germain wrote on Tuesday. "You are the ones with power. Coordinate. Take out every single person who supports Trump's illegal, immoral, unconstitutional acts. Look at the sycophants and give them what they're asking for. Every other country sees what's happening and they are taking stands. If you step up, we can avoid a civil war." She added that she was "not talking about assassinating a president" because a president is "a person duly elected" while Trump is heading "a fascist dictatorship." Secret Service Director Curran 'Confident' The Agency Will Solve Failed Trump Assassination Attempts "Secret Service, you are Americans. My beloved military, you are Americans. We, the people, are counting on you. If I had the skill set required, I would take them out myself. I'm making this post public for a reason, I promise you. Don't waste time wondering if I'm okay. I'm not. If you're okay, you're lying to yourself," she closed. As of Thursday afternoon, the post remained public and pinned to the top of her Facebook page. Read On The Fox News App In several follow-up posts, St. Germain stood by her comments, saying that she was not attacking all Republicans or MAGA but Trump and "those in the room" with him. She also said that she was not afraid of losing her job and had no shame over the backlash. "To be clear, publicly: I knew what I was doing when I did it. I'm not the least f---ing sorry," she wrote in another post on Wednesday. What Does It Take To Become A Secret Service Agent? Director Sean Curran Offers A Behind-the-scenes Look "I'm not backtracking a single thing. I believe Trump and every sycophant he has surrounded himself with (this is not you — if you're reading this, this doesn't apply to you. You are beneath his notice and mine) needs to die. I believe this with the same forceful belief that Hitler and his sycophants needed to die, before they murdered 6 million innocent Jewish persons," one post read. Another post read, "I'm not backtracking, I am clarifying. Trump is an immoral dictator wannabe. He needs to have a conversation with Jesus." In a statement to Fox News Digital, the U.S. Secret Service said it was made aware of St. Germain's post but that it does not comment on matters "involving protective intelligence." Fox News Digital also reached out to Waterville High Schools and St. Germain for a comment. In an email obtained by The Maine Wire, Waterville Public Schools Superintendent Peter Hallen informed parents that he was made aware of a social media post made by a faculty member and had "taken steps to ensure everyone's safety" and will be "actively investigating the incident" with article source: Maine high school teacher calls for deaths of Trump and his supporters in Facebook posts
