Beierle, Judith L. 1942-2025 Kingsland, Texas
KINGSLAND, Texas – Judith, 'Judy' Lee Beierle (nee Gray), 82, of Kingsland, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, in her home surrounded by loved ones. Judy was born on Nov. 29, 1942, in the city of St. Joseph, to Carl and Eleanor Gray. She attended Benton High School, in St. Joseph, and St. Joseph Junior College before graduating from the University of Missouri in Columbia in 1964, receiving her Bachelor of Arts in English and education. She worked as a teacher, a substitute teacher, and in retail. Judy loved playing bridge, Uno, and Scrabble throughout her life. In her younger years, she excelled in needle work, embroidery, and sewing. She sang in her church choir throughout her life and sang in the Bluebonnet Chorale of the Highland Lakes for many years after moving to the Hill Country. Judy was known for her charismatic personality, sense of style, and her indomitable optimism. She loved reading, particular classic mysteries and historical fiction. She loved collecting antique furniture, figurines, and housewares. She loved animals, particularly cats and greyhounds. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles Beierle; her daughters, Robin Henning and Emily Beierle-McKaskle; and her grandchildren, Austin Henning, Abby Henning, Adeline McKaskle, and Henry McKaskle. She is preceded in death by her father, Carl Gray; her step-father, Marcus Caton; and her mother, Hope Eleanor Gray. Hoecker, Sandra K. 1943-20-25 St. Joseph, Mo.
Sandra Kay Hoecker, a loving wife and mother of two sons, passed away at the age of 81 on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025. Sandra, or Sandy as she was known by many, was born on July 1, 1943, in St. Joseph, to Louis and Hazel (Teschner) Canterbury. She graduated from Benton High School in 1961. Sandy met her future husband, Larry Lee Hoecker, at St. Joseph Junior College and the two married April 6,1963, at Zion United Church of Christ. They raised two sons, Landon (Alan), of Phoenix, Arizona, and Jarrod (Lisa), of Ontario, California. Sandy worked during her teen years as a lifeguard at the Hyde Park Public Swimming Pool. Once her children themselves were teenagers, she secured her broker license and worked for a number of years as a realtor in St. Joseph. When her oldest son, Landon, went to college, Sandy made the decision to pursue a lifelong passion for a career in healthcare, attending the current Missouri Western State University, where she earned a bachelor's degree of registered nurse. She would go on to function in a number of roles, first as a surgical OR nurse, then in home health care before assuming the role of educator for certified nursing assistants at Hillyard Technical. Sandy always dreamed of living in the southwest. After retiring at the age of 61, she and Larry decided to leave their beloved hometown and relocate to Arizona. They first settled into a new home in Surprise, Arizona, where they resided for 17 years before relocating in 2021 to Freedom Plaza Retirement Center in Peoria, Arizona. Outside of work, Sandy was an avid gamer. She loved all sorts of card games and marbles as well as the thrill of the casino slots. While at Freedom Plaza, she would often be found working on puzzles, playing Mexican Train dominoes, bingo, or Phase 10 cards. Family was a central part of her life. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. Sandy was preceded in death by her father, Louis; her brother, Daryl; followed by mother, Hazel; and later by her husband, Larry. Sandy is survived by her two sons, Landon and Jarrod, as well as many nieces and nephews. Graveside Farewell Services & Inurnment 10 a.m. Saturday, June 21, Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Hecker Jr., Garnett F. 1936-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.
Garnett F. Hecker Jr., 88, St. Joseph, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 31, 2025, on his farm, doing what he loved. He was born Sunday, July 26, 1936, in Corning, Missouri, to Garnett and Nellie (Younger) Hecker. He was a 1954 graduate of Lafayette High School and earned his associate's degree in engineering from St. Joseph Junior College. Garnett proudly served his country as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army Airborne from 1956 to 1959, which included deployment to the 1958 Lebanon Crisis. He met Adelheid 'Heidi' Mueller in Germany during his military service, and they were married on June 23, 1958. She preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 2021. Garnett worked as a partsman for International Harvester for 50-plus years, was a lifelong farmer and a multi-talented 'Mr. Fix-It.' He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, an avid blood donor, and a member of the Silver & Gold Club. Garnett loved traveling with Heidi, having been to all 50 states and several countries. Most of all, Garnett loved to spend time with his family, especially cheering on his great-grandchildren's sporting events, and working on his farm. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Heidi; and his parents. Survivors include his children, Steven Hecker (Connie), Cornelia Schirber (Pete), and Renee King (Russell); grandchildren, Nicole Conroy (Justin), Amber Ostendorf (Chris), Erik Hecker (Gracie Roach), Matthew Schirber (Jocelyn), Stephanie Kudryavtseva (Dimitry Kudryavtsev), and Ashley Schirber, and Regan Atkins (Jeff); great-grandchildren, Parker and Easton Conroy, Ella and Liam Ostendorf, Eleanor Schirber, and Max Kudryavtsev; siblings, Joyce Carol Cox (David), Jerry Hecker (Betty), Dennis Hecker (Rita), Peggy Johnson (JD), and Lanny Hecker (Kim); numerous other extended family members and friends. Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1 p.m. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Inurnment with his beloved Heidi, Leavenworth National Cemetery at a later date.
