St. Lucie County Fire Rescue extinguishes large scrap pile fire early Tuesday
FORT PIERCE — Rescue crews early Tuesday morning stopped a large scrap pile fire with explosions from spreading to nearby buildings, according to St. Lucie County Fire Rescue officials.
Multiple units responded around 6:41 a.m. to reports of a large scrap pile on fire with explosions in the 3300 block of Avenue D in Fort Pierce, officials said at the agency's Facebook page.
Upon arrival, crews worked to extinguish the flames and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is unknown, spokesperson Brenda Smith said Tuesday.
