Lack of public support prevents sea wall railings in St Brelade

Sailing event returns to St Oeun's Bay for 40th anniversary
A sailing event is set to celebrate its 40th anniversary in Jersey with a series of races. The Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club (RCIYC) has set up the event which will include surf relay racing, a hull flying competition and races around St Ouen's Bay. Organisers said the event had not been able to take place for several years due to logistics and restrictions around moving boats from their base in St Aubin's said there had been "growing enthusiasm to reintroduce the racing in St Ouen's Bay". 'Action packed' Organisers said the island's Hobie Fleet will also take to the water at the Cats, a type of sailing catamaran, were first introduced into St Ouen's Bay in the said: "It will be action packed, including surf relay racing, a hull flying competition and races around the bay."The racing will begin on Saturday at 11:30 BST, with the Hobie Cat Dash race back to St Aubin's bay on Sunday starting at 12:00 added the race area, north of Le Braye and towards El Tico, could be viewed from the beach or sea wall.

Weekend event to showcase sports in Jersey
People will get the chance to try a number of sports during a weekend-long event in Jersey Sports Council has organised a free Sport Showcase Event on Saturday and Sunday.A spokesperson said there would be events at Les Quennevais Sports Centre and Playing Fields as well as at Royal Channel Island Yacht Club in St council said an under 18s who wanted to attend the event without an adult needed to fill out a consent form. There will be sports including football, bowls, petanque, netball and volleyball on offer for people to try out between 11:00 and 16:00 BST on Saturday, organisers added other sports would include sailing and paddle boarding on Sunday from 09:00 to 13:00, subject to the weather and conditions on the water.

Jersey charity festival cancelled as signups plummet
A festival celebrating charities has been cancelled due to a shortage or organisations wanting to have of Jersey's Kindness Festival said they would normally have 25 to 30 charities signed up at this stage for the day-long event, but only had four names so far."This leads to the realisation that - with so many charity events in the island - probably the Kindness Festival is no longer needed," a spokesperson organisers said they had chosen to cancel the event now before performers started to rehearse, and to allow the venues to be used for other events. The festival was due to take place in St Aubin towards the end of started in 2015 as a "joyful celebration" of local charities and a "day of fun" for visitors, organisers who had signed up would have their joining fees refunded, they added.

Jersey walk dedicated to quadruple amputee Lily McGarry
A 5km walk supporting a limb loss charity has been dedicated to a woman who had all four limb amputated earlier this McGarry, 23, from Jersey, had the amputations after getting Murray, the founder of Jersey Limb Difference Support Group said members were passionate about making their inaugural event a show of support and solidarity for her. He said: "Everyone wanted to show support for Lily... and it germinated into a real passion to do this. The enthusiasm in that room was so palpable and emotional." Mr Murray said: "Immediately there was an empathy for this amazing young lady who is going through the trial of a lifetime, and what we can do is show some solidarity and support for her in her challenge."He set up the Jersey Limb Difference Support Group earlier this month having lost a leg to cancer 13 years ago. The Walk of Support for Lily begins at 11:00 BST opposite the Grand Hotel in St Helier and finishes at St Aubin's group said everyone was welcome to join, including those using disability scooters, wheelchairs or walking Murray said: "We want Lily to know that she's not alone... there is life after limb loss, and there's a community here that stands with her as she navigates this journey."While the walk is not a fundraiser, Greg described it as "a symbol of support, resilience, and hope".
