Fatal crash involving semi shuts lanes 18 miles north of Fort Pierce on Florida's Turnpike
ST. LUCIE COUNTY − All northbound lanes of Florida's Turnpike are closed Aug. 12 following a fatal traffic crash about 18 miles north of Fort Pierce, according to the Florida Highway Patrol and the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office.
FHP officials got to the area at 3:14 p.m., and reported all northbound lanes were closed.
St. Lucie County Sheriff's officials reported they were helping with the crash.

The Sheriff's Office stated a semi-truck and trailer 'jackknifed and came to rest on top of a passenger vehicle' about 18 miles north of the Fort Pierce exit.
'Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes,' the Sheriff's Office stated. 'Expect heavy delays in the area.'
The FHP stated it is a fatal crash, but it wasn't immediately clear whether more than one person died.
