Westcliff-on-Sea care home 'requires improvement', inspectors say
A care home which was inspected after someone was seriously injured has had its rating downgraded to "requires improvement".St Martins Residential Home in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, was visited by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in March after "a person using the service sustained a serious injury", prompting an unannounced home, which cares for up to 26 older people, including those living with dementia, was found to require improvement in all categories. It had been rated as "good" during its previous inspection in BBC has contacted St Martin's Residential Home for a response.
"We found 4 breaches of regulation relating to person centred care, consent, risk management and governance," the CQC found the home did not ensure all risks to people's safety and wellbeing were identified, and did not provide enough detail as to how these risks should be mitigated. In addition, not all care plans accurately reflected all of a person's care and support needs, the CQC inspectors were positive about how medicines were being managed, staff wellbeing and CQC added people and those acting on their behalf were happy with the care and support provided.
