The South Dakota Department of Corrections has confirmed three inmate deaths tied to drug overdoses in 2025 in Sioux Falls: one at the state penitentiary and two at the Jameson Annex next door. Flowers for Fathers Day
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (\KLO) The Flower Mill is a busy place leading up to Mother's Day. That isn't the case this week. 'I guess people don't really think about flowers for Father's Day, which would be awesome if we kind of could, you know, turn that around, because I really feel like it would be a really cool and unexpected gift for a dad to receive flowers,' said Stacy Schapp, Owner, The Flower Mill. USD still weighing decisions with NCAA settlement It's been said that most men don't receive flowers until their funeral. But with options, like this one – complete with a fishing pole – florist Stacy Schapp hopes to change that. 'Most people think of guys just getting ties, tools, whatnot for Father's Day. And honestly, flowers would be a really unique and unexpected gift. And a lot of men enjoy the scent of flowers and getting flowers,' said Schapp. Even though flowers may not be the most popular gift for Father's Day, there are still plenty of gardening supplies for Dad. 'You know, if dad's into gardening and trees and plants and nature, then we're definitely the spot for gifts for him,' said Jamie Ogle, Manager, Cliff Avenue Greenhouse & Garden Center. Father's Day, that's where we're selling more of, like, the trees, shrubs, perennials, houseplants, gift certificates, that type of thing.' Whether it's something for the garden or something in a vase, both businesses have plenty of options for dad. 'Everybody loves to get flowers and everybody enjoys flowers, not just women. Honestly, I feel like guys love them too, and it's just a fun thing to get and a fun surprise,' said Schapp. An poll from Interflora showed that only about 12 percent of men receive flowers in their lifetime.
