Kyogo 'could' return to Celtic as transfer price plummets with El Kachati battle 'over' amid O'Riley payday veto
Brendan Rodgers' faces a busy summer - with a striker at the top of the shopping list Out of favour Kyogo Furuhashi could return to Celtic from Stade Rennes this summer after a dismal spell in Ligue 1, according to reports in France. The Celtic star looks set to be left out of Habib Beye's 25-man unit that he takes into pre-season after his £10million January move quickly turned sour. The 30-year-old was signed by boss Jorge Sampoali with sporting director Frederic Massara negotiating the deal - but since both allies have left the club. The Japan international struggled to even make the matchday squad in the final weeks of the season - and has yet to find the net for his new club. Amid reports that Premier League side Bournemouth are considering a bid for the misfit, Foot7 claim that a move back to Brendan Rodgers' side "could" be on. It is claimed that Celtic have already "inquired" about a deal and may make "a concrete offer" for less than they received from Rennes just six months ago with the search for Kyogo's successor still rumbling on. One forward that doesn't appear to be on his way to Celtic Park is Youssef El Kachati - with the 25-goal star set to remain in the Netherlands after an impressive campaign firing Dutch minnows Telstar to the Eredivise. Hannover 96 and the Scottish champions were said to be tracking the frontman - but De Telegraaf report there is an agreement in principle with NEC on a three-year contract. Any spending spree could be funded by outgoing players - with sell-on paydays for Jeremie Frimpong and Matt O'Riley also on the cards. Frimpong looks set to swap Bayer Leverkusen for Liverpool - while O'Riley has been linked with Roma and Everton just 12 months on from his Parkhead exit. The Danish international has hinted he is not completely happy at Brighton - with the Hoops entitled to a sell-on payday for their record sale. But a switch to The Toffees could be off the cards as it stands, with Everton insider Alan Myers telling the All Together Now podcast: 'My understanding is that it's not going to happen. 'I don't even know whether there is interest there, that's what I'm told.' One man who appears keen to extend his stay at Celtic is Kasper Schmeichel as the Hoops' No. 1 revealed he wants to reach the 1,000-game milestone. The Danish keeper has currently made 903 appearances for 12 different clubs and insists he's had one of the best seasons of his career at Celtic. The 38-year-old said: "It would be fantastic if I could reach 1000 games. You could say it would be a special milestone because not many people manage to play as many games as that. "I'm the type who doesn't see limitations, but rather opportunities. I enjoy what I do immensely. I look forward to training every day and to all the matches. I know it will end one day. That's also why I live very much in the present. "I don't think several years into the future, but as I feel today, my plan is to continue my career for several years. "The only thing that can stop those ambitions is if there is a serious injury. "It has been one of the best seasons of my career. A new standard has been set for what we can and want. "We lost one cup final against Aberdeen, were eliminated by Bayern Munich in the Champions League after a game where we had enough chances to win the game. "I was really impressed with the atmosphere we had in the dressing room at the Allianz Arena. We had drawn against Bayern Munich, but we were very disappointed that we didn't progress. "It shows me a lot about how mature we are as a team and not least about how much we have moved on. "For me, it was the right time to end up at Celtic. Because I got exactly what I was looking for. I wanted more pressure and a big, traditional club. I got that at Celtic." Newcastle United register interest in Arnaud Kalimuendo
Newcastle United have reportedly registered an interest in French forward Arnaud Kalimuendo as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season. According to L'Equipe, Newcastle are not alone in their pursuit of Kalimuendo, with Primeira Liga champions Sporting CP also in the race amid Viktor Gyokeres' expected exit. However, the Magpies could have an edge over their Portuguese counterparts, with Kalimuendo believed to be keen on a move to the top tier of English football. Currently playing for Stade Rennais in Ligue 1, the striker has caught the attention of several clubs after an impressive season in France. He netted 17 goals in 33 matches last time out, only behind Ousmane Dembele and Mason Greenwood in the scoring charts. The 23-year-old forward came through the Paris Saint-Germain youth system before making a permanent switch to Rennes in 2022 and steadily developed into one of Ligue 1's most promising attackers. Having moved to Rennes for a €20 million fee three years ago, Kalimuendo is expected to command a transfer fee of around double that amount as he looks set to enter the prime years of his career. Newcastle scouts have reportedly been monitoring Kalimuendo for several months, and the club's recruitment team is said to be impressed not only with his goal-scoring ability but also with his work ethic and tactical intelligence — traits that fit well with Howe's high-pressing style. Newcastle's desire to bring in a new centre forward is not far-fetched given the impending departure of Callum Wilson and the uncertain future of Alexander Isak, who is attracting interest from all around Europe. Qualifying for Champions League football could be the key to retaining Isak's services, and Newcastle will set out to secure a top-four finish by beating Everton in their final Premier League fixture tomorrow.

Reo Hatate breaks Celtic cover amid exit murmurs as Kyogo fired 'clear' transfer ultimatum with £3.5m bonus alive
The Scottish Cup final is still on the agenda for the Hoops but attention is quickly turning to the summer window In-demand Reo Hatate has picked up a Celtic highlight from the campaign amid speculation over his future at the club. The 27-year-old has been a key figure in the Celtic midfield engine room once again this term - but will miss the Scottish Cup final with a knee knock. But after claiming Premiership and League Cup winners medals already this term reports suggest the Japan international is attracting interest from across Europe. Udinese are said to be leading the race - with Brazil icon Zico pitching his former side to the Hoops' star. But as he reflected on the campaign in his Sportiva column, he kept his focus on his Parkhead highlights this term. Hatate wrote: "My wife told me that on November 5th last year, my mother came to Celtic Park to watch the the Champions League match against Leipzig and cried when she saw me entering the pitch with the Champions League anthem playing. "I scored my first Champions League goal in that match, and when my wife saw my mother, she cried again. I wonder if I was able to show my parents some gratitude. "I was happy to score a goal in a game that my mother came to watch. At the same time, I want to show her more success and make her happy." The Scottish champions are set to bank a payday when Jeremie Frimpong seals his move to Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen - and that could be followed by sell-on cash from Matt O'Riley's Brighton exit. But one boost to the coffers that had appeared to be off the table is for Luis Palma with Olympiacos unlikely to pick up the £3.5m option to buy on the Celtic loanee. However, Greek outlet Sport Today report that Panathinaikos are considering paying the fee to snap up the Honduran winger. Kyogo Furuhashi is facing an uncertain future after failing to make his mark at Stade Rennes following his £10million January switch from the Hoops. The 30-year-old failed to score in France while making just one appearance since March in a rare substitute appearance. And boss Habib Beye has warned his fringe men that a clear out is incoming. He told Foot7: "All the players who will be at Stade Rennes next season will be sought-after players who want to be 200 per cent involved in this project. "Anyone who is in limbo will have to see what can happen elsewhere. But they won't be a priority for the club. "And that's very clear, it's stated by the owner, and it will be defended by the coach as I have done until now.
