Stafford County K-9 assists in arresting four on narcotics charges, deputies say
STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. () — The work of a Stafford County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) K-9 led to the arrest of four people on narcotics charges over the weekend, authorities said. An SCSO deputy responded to a public intoxication report at a McDonald's shortly after 2 p.m. on May 3. It was reported that a woman was possibly under the influence after she was seen getting in and out of a packed Honda Civic. As the deputy got to the scene, he noticed the woman was still acting erratically. SCSO said there were four people in the Honda: The driver, 40-year-old Jason Greenwood, provided a false identity; Holly Hannah, 30, was 'clearly under the influence;' and the other two passengers were identified as 46-year-old Charles Garber and 52-year-old Karl Mullins. Police helicopter forces 3 flights to change landings at Reagan National Airport The deputy decided to deploy K-9 Mija, who conducted an open-air sniff and alerted on the vehicle. Mullins said the alert was due to donuts in the car. However, SCSO said, 'Mija is trained in detecting narcotics, not sugary sweets.' Deputies searched the vehicle and found suspected controlled substances in nearly every nook and cranny, authorities detailed. The four were detained and Greenwood admitted his real identity. SCSO noted he was wanted out of King George and Westmoreland. At the jail, staff found additional controlled substances on Hannah, leading to additional charges. Greenwood was served on his outstanding offenses and charged with possession of controlled substances, providing a false identity to law enforcement and identity theft. He was held without bond. Hannah was charged with public intoxication, two counts of possession of controlled substances and prisoner in possession of an unlawful compound. She was held without bond. Mullins and Garber were charged with possession of controlled substances and held on a $2,000 and $2,500 bond, respectively. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Driver tries fleeing from police twice before being arrested, Stafford County deputies say
STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. () — A man wanted in Stafford County for fleeing from police during a traffic stop was arrested Tuesday — after fleeing police during a traffic stop for a second time, the sheriff's office said. One evening last month, a Stafford County Sheriff's Office (SCS) sergeant was near Richmond Highway and Centreport Parkway when he saw a Mercedes travelling 64 MPH in a 45 MPH zone. He initiated a traffic stop, but the driver abruptly turned onto I-95. Since there was traffic in the area, the sergeant decided to terminate the pursuit. In the weeks that followed, SCSO said they collected evidence and information regarding the driver so that charges could be obtained once the suspect was identified. Heavy police presence in Arlington after possible shooting On April 29, just over a month after the first incident, the sergeant 'had a moment of déjà vu,' SCSO detailed. He saw the same Mercedes being driven by the same driver — this time on White Oak Road minutes before 4:15 p.m. 'The only difference was now the vehicle had a fictitious inspection sticker,' authorities said. The sergeant again tried initiating a traffic stop and, again, the driver took off. Rather than pursuing him, however, the sergeant had deputies respond to the suspect's residence. Once the driver returned home, he was met by waiting deputies. Carlos Lara Sanchez, 20, of Stafford, was handed a range of charges stemming from the two pursuits. For the first incident in March, he was charged with felony eluding, speeding, having no inspection and having no registration. For the most recent incident on April 29, he was charged with felony eluding, having no inspection and being in possession of a fictitious inspection sticker. He was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

Three arrested in Stafford County during traffic stop
STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. () — The Stafford County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) said deputies arrested three people during a traffic stop on Monday. Just before 8 p.m. on April 28, deputies were on Chatham Heights Road when they said they saw a Toyota Camry that had an expired registration, no inspection sticker and the trunk was held closed by a cord. Deputies performed a traffic stop on the Camry and saw three people inside. SCSO said the driver was identified as 44-year-old Andre Bennett, 33-year-old Tony Jones was identified as the front passenger and 20-year-old Selena Dowd was in the back seat. Man assaults multiple Stafford deputies during arrest, flushes evidence down toilet, authorities say It turned out that Bennett did not have a valid driver's license, Jones gave false identification and was wanted for a previous offense and Dowd was wanted for a felony probation violation, SCSO said. Deputies also said they found controlled substances when they searched the car. All three people were taken to the Rappahannock Regional Jail. Bennett was charged with possession of controlled substances, driving without a driver's license, having no inspection and having an expired registration. He was held on a $7,500 secured bond. Jones was charged with possession of controlled substances, providing a false identity to law enforcement, identity theft to avoid arrest and he was served with his outstanding warrant. He was held without bond. Dowd was served on her outstanding warrant and was also held without bond. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
