Cowboys' Dak Prescott makes bold statement to Rams team owner

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott will be back under center for the team after missing about half of the 2024 season with an injury, leading to a 7-10 year for the potential Super Bowl contenders. Prescott was on the sideline for the team's first preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams. He briefly met with Rams team owner Stan Kroenke and delivered a bold message to him. "We'll meet y'all in the NFC Championship," he told Kroenke, via WFAA-TV. Getting to the Super Bowl and winning the championship is the goal for the Cowboys each season. Unfortunately for their fans, it seems like, for nearly three decades or so, there's some kind of calamity that has prevented the team from seizing on its dream. Prescott's injury was just one of a multitude of issues Dallas suffered in 2024. From 2021 to 2023, Dallas was 12-5 and won the NFC East division two out of those three seasons. However, the team never made it further than the divisional round, which has been the main obstacle since last winning the Super Bowl in 1995. The Cowboys have failed to secure even a bid for the NFC Championship despite putting together some terrific seasons over the last 29 years. The Rams won a Super Bowl in 2021 behind Matthew Stafford and a defense led by Aaron Donald. They've made the playoffs in two of the last three seasons but have not made it back to the NFC Championship. This season, the obstacle for Dallas could be who is not out on the field, as linebacker Micah Parsons and the team have come to an impasse in contract negotiations. Parsons has since requested a trade and is working out – just not at training camp. It's unclear whether the two sides will come to an agreement. For Dallas to get back to its top 10 standing among NFL defenses, having Parsons on the team will be key.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is mercilessly mocked by NFL fans over bold prediction ahead of new season

Confidence is a key trait for any NFL quarterback to have. However, it appears that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is feeling a bit too good about his team's playoff chances. Prescott, who missed a majority of the 2024 season with an injury, is fully recovered and ready to return to the field this year. He didn't put on his helmet for the first preseason game of 2025 when the Cowboys faced the Los Angeles Rams, but he was present at the game. In an image captured by WFAA's Mike Leslie, Prescott was seen meeting with Rams owner Stan Kroenke on the field prior to the start of the contest. During their conversation, Prescott boldly told Kroenke, 'We'll meet y'all in the NFC Championship.' It's a bold claim for Prescott - who plays for a team that has not reached that stage of the playoffs in 30 years. Dak Prescott shook hands with Rams owner Stan Kroenke, and then told him "We'll meet y'all in the NFC Championship." — Mike Leslie (@MikeLeslieWFAA) August 10, 2025 Prescott told Rams owner Stan Kroenke (pictured above) that Dallas would see the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship game. The Cowboys haven't played in that game since 1995. Naturally, NFL fans on social media mocked Prescott for his claim: 'I want to live in this kind of delusion'. Another account said, sarcastically, 'That's so nice of Dak to go ahead and pledge to buy his team tickets to the NFC Championship game. Such an example of being a good friend, bro. Bravo, bro.' 'He actually thinks this year won't be just like the other 29 years before,' another said. The Cowboys haven't gotten to the NFC Championship game since 1995 - the year they won Super Bowl XXX over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Since then, they've made the playoffs in 13 of 29 seasons and have only won five games combined over that span. Last season, Dallas didn't even make the playoffs. Moreover, the Cowboys play in the NFC East - the same division that features the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles and NFC runner-up Washington Commanders. It's also a bit of an odd prediction to think that the Rams - a team which barely made the playoffs in 2024 - would be meeting Dallas in that game. The Cowboys ended up losing to the Rams 31-21 on a night where other stars like CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens didn't take the field.

Dak Prescott Already Knows Who's Playing In NFC Championship Game

Dak Prescott Already Knows Who's Playing In NFC Championship Game originally appeared on The Spun. The QB is confident. Dak Prescott appears to really like his team's chances heading into 2025 — offseason drama notwithstanding. Despite all of the noise surrounding Micah Parsons and his very public standoff with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones over the DE's contract extension, Dak seemingly called his shot that this will be the year Dallas finally breaks its three-decade long NFC title game drought. Speaking to Rams owner Stan Kroenke ahead of yesterday's preseason game in Los Angeles, the three-time Pro Bowler promised the billionaire real estate magnate that Saturday wouldn't be the only time the two meet this season. Telling Kroenke and others: "We'll meet y'all in the NFC Championship Game." Fans reacted to the QB's confidence on X. "Another year of Cowboys disappointment," a rival celebrated. "Dak buying a ticket to the game?" a user asked. "This clip is gonna go triple platinum in January," another predicted. "I guess he's planning to meet him in the stands in Philly," Hard Rock Bet replied. "Dak win a playoff game? Be serious." "Dak can't even reach the nfc championship game in madden," another person joked. "Nah what kind of drugs is this man Dak on because I need some," another user commented. "MFer will be lucky to see 3rd in his own division and can't get out the first round if he had a first round bye," another fan said. "Is Dak a stand-up comedian now?" The Cowboys are coming off a 7-10 season in 2024 which saw Dak limited to just eight games with a hamstring that he partially tore off the bone; while Kroenke and the Rams nearly knocked off the Super Bowl champion Eagles in the divisional round back in January. But every season is a fresh one and hope always springs eternal in the lead-up to Week 1. We'll see if this is finally the year when the ball officially kicks off Thursday Sept. 4. Dak Prescott Already Knows Who's Playing In NFC Championship Game first appeared on The Spun on Aug 10, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Aug 10, 2025, where it first appeared.

Report: ESPN will assume lease at NFLN's 75,000-square-foot L.A. studio

The "non-binding" agreement between the NFL and ESPN will eventually bind ESPN to a significant expense. Via Ryan Glasspiegel of ESPN will assume the lease for NFL Network's 75,000-square-foot studio near SoFi Stadium. The duration of the lease wasn't disclosed. Neither was the rent. It's hard not to wonder whether the lease included a term contemplating one rent level if the NFL is leasing the space from Rams owner Stan Kroenke, and a higher rent level if someone else assumes the role of lessee. Regardless, ESPN will be giving up more than equity as part of its deal to assumed the NFL's somewhat distressed media assets. And it's apparently part of the price to pay for ensuring that ESPN will continue to have a broadcast package indefinitely into the future.

Todd Boehly joins exclusive club of owners to be world champions in two sports as Chelsea win Club World Cup

CHELSEA owner Todd Boehly has joined an exclusive club of owners to have become 'World Champions' in two sports. The Blues earned their new title of world champs thanks to their dominant 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final on Sunday. 5 Chelsea were spectacular as Cole Palmer shone once again to help the London club become the first team to with Fifa's revamped tournament. That victory means that Chelsea are now the first club to have won every major trophy on offer for an English team, adding the Club World Cup to titles like the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League and Conference League. But their success has also done wonders for owner Todd Boehly, who is now one of just a handful sports team owners to have seen his teams be crowned world champions in multiple sports. Boehly is also a co-owner of Major League Baseball franchise the LA Dodgers, who won the 2024 World Series - meaning the 51-year-old American is now technically a two-time world champion. He joins the exclusive club of owners to do so, including Arsenal 's head honcho Stan Kroenke, who achieved the same feat with two of his US teams. Kroenke's NFL franchise the LA Rams, and his NHL team the Colorado Avalanche, won the Super Bowl and the Stanley Cup respectively in 2022 - both earning the title of world champions in their sports. Mikel Arteta 's best efforts in the Premier League and Champions League in recent seasons. Boehly, who appeared to promise Chelsea would win the Champions League in 2026 following the game, has every right to feel smug after his much-criticized player trading model paid dividends for the first time. 5 5 5 Clearlake capital and Boehly have taken the brunt of league-wide fan anger since their takeover for splashing way in excess of £1BILLION on new signings. And although there was a general consensus that the bold method of stock-piling young talent on mammoth contracts and selling the deadwood was failing, the Blues' success in the US - coupled with their stellar performances - could change the way Boehly's methods are viewed. Cole Palmer and Chelsea celebrate in style as they arrive back at their hotel after Club World Cup victory However, the first challenge Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca will face in continuing the club's success is managing the shortened break and hectic schedule on the horizon for the SW6 outfit. Chelsea will now have to settle for a shorter post-season break and smaller pre-season preparations than their Premier League rivals after going all the way in the Club World Cup.
