Iwa Moto defends online sellers against social media criticism
Former actress Iwa Moto has called out netizens who belittled online sellers, saying it is an 'honest and decent way to earn a living.' In a live selling session on her TikTok account, Moto paused midway to address comments that demeaned those working in online commerce, stressing there is no shame in working hard to support one's family. 'I choose to stay here at home and do live selling so I can earn and be with my family. So guys, don't ever belittle online sellers. We are working our asses off, we are doing our best, and we are not hurting anyone. This is a decent job, unlike those who are scamming,' said the former actress in a seemingly annoyed tone, as captured in a video posted on Reddit. The 'StarStruck' season three first runner-up noted that live selling has enabled her to send her children to reputable schools, urging viewers never to underestimate any profession. 'When I was still active as an actress, from the makeup artist to the one carrying my bag, I respected them all. Do not ever belittle those who are working hard, especially on my platform,' she added. Moto rose to fame for portraying Valentina in the 2009 'Darna' series starring Marian Rivera. She is in a long-term relationship with politician Pampi Lacson, son of Senator Panfilo 'Ping' Lacson, with whom she has two children. Pampi, the former husband of actress Jodi Sta. Maria, shares a son with Sta. Maria in a blended family arrangement. Moto's remarks come after fellow actress Matet de Leon also faced criticism during a live selling session, when a viewer asked if she no longer had acting projects, leaving her in tears.
