UP's Ist SIHM in Gorakhpur soon, nears completion
Gorakhpur: The first State Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM) of Uttar Pradesh is coming up at the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) area in Gorakhpur, said deputy director tourism Ravindra Kumar Mishra.
With over 85% of construction already completed, the Rs 48.39 crore project is expected to complete by Sept and diploma and degree courses are likely to commence from the next academic session.
The project is being executed by C&DS Unit-14 under the tourism department. Under the first phase of construction, which began on Sept 26, 2023, the work of administrative blocks, classrooms, a common hall, modern kitchens, underground parking, electrification, fire safety systems, and pipelines was done.
And in the second phase hostels for the students will be constructed at an additional cost of Rs 46.81 crore.
The e-tendering process for the second phase is underway, he said.
With the completion of the SIHM project, Gorakhpur is poised to become a key centre for hospitality education and tourism-driven employment as per the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Mishra said that efforts are on to ensure timely completion of the project. The institute aims to produce skilled professionals to meet growing demand in the hospitality sector.
