Bellefontaine board accepts superintendent's retirement, immediately rehires him

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – As The Who's Roger Daltrey sang: Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Moments after accepting Superintendent Brad Hall's retirement at its monthly meeting Monday, the Bellefontaine City Schools board unanimously approved his rehiring for both the 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years. Bellefontaine to welcome the public to its parks for the eclipse Hall has been in education for 33 years, including the last 11 as the Bellefontaine superintendent. He attributed his (brief) retirement to the State Teachers Retirement System's new eligibility requirements, but said his enthusiasm for the role hasn't waned. 'My dedication to serving students, staff, and the community remains as strong as ever,' said Hall. 'The district has phenomenal students, a dedicated, professional staff, and a very supportive community, and it is an honor to continue leading it.' Afterward, Bellefontaine High School Band Director Ken Hoffman proposed an idea for a band trip to Nashville, Tennessee, for April 1-4, 2026. He said band students would perform at the historic Country Music Hall of Fame and Studio B. While there the band students would learn about the city's rich music history. The expected cost of the trip would be $525 per student. The board said it would consider approving the trip in the future. To learn more about Bellefontaine City Schools click here.
