A Steelers icon becomes the latest measuring stick for Jalen Hurts
They're the NFL's only two professional sports franchises in Pennsylvania, and once upon a time, they were forced to join forces to ensure the survival of both organizations. In 1943, the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers joined forces as the Phil-Pitt Combine, a.k.a. the 'Steagles.' Both teams saw many of their players enlist during World War II, which compelled both sides to pull resources and field a single combined team. The result was a mediocre 5–4–1 record and a third-place finish in the NFL Eastern Division. Greasy Neale and Walt Kiesling served as co-head coaches. Alexis Thompson, Art Rooney, and Bert Bell shared ownership duties. I'm not sure why, but something about that seems fascinating. We would have paid money to see it, but we will settle for some current parallels. Thank you to one of the hosts of FS1's First Things First for providing us with one relatively recently. Chris Broussard is reminded of a Steelers icon by Jalen Hurts We've heard comparisons involving Jalen Hurts and Tom Brady. We've seen Philly's star quarterback hang out with Michael Jordan on more than one occasion. Recently, Cam Newton threw a few darts at him. That was a little surprising, but we are used to hearing his name tossed around on FS1 daily. Typically, when we mention one of the flagship shows, First Things First, we're complaining about something Nick Wright said. This time, however, some of the banter was flattering. We haven't heard this one before. Chris Broussard compared Hurts to a Steelers icon. The City of Brotherly Love can be tough to win over, but they're an adoring bunch if they fall in love with you. Let's mull over what Broussard just said and make one thing abundantly clear. Broussard didn't say this in his theory. This is strictly the ramblings of someone whose imagination has been awakened by what he said. Let's say Jalen Hurts matches Terry Bradshaw's resume. Think about that for a second. Let's say he leads the Eagles to something in the area of four Super Bowl wins (or, let's just trim it back to three). Philadelphia will build him a statue, and once his playing days are over, he'll be able to run for public office and win. That isn't an exaggeration. Steelers 2026 NFL Draft teaser for Pittsburgh goes viral on social media The 2025 NFL Draft is officially in the history books — and the Steelers wasted little time hyping up the Black and Gold faithful for what's in store for 2026. Pittsburgh is set to host next year's draft, and Steelers fans were graced with an amazing teaser for the event on social media. The Steelers organization is clearly excited to host such an incredible event, as the last time Pittsburgh hosted a draft was back in 1948 — just five years after the infamous Phil-Pitt "Steagles" graced the field for their first and only season in 1943. Day 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft is set for April 23, with Days 2 and 3 scheduled for April 24 and 25, respectively.
