Three Whataburger locations could be coming to East Tennessee
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Knoxville area could soon be home to three Whataburger locations, as a project management site includes prospective plans to convert two Steak and Shake locations to Whataburger restaurants.
The two locations where Whataburger could go are 500 East Emory Road in Powell and 310 Wild Geese Road in Knoxville, according to LDI Reproprinting Centers' website.

Both projects on LDI's website include site investigation reports that are dated October 22, 2024. While neither document includes a prospective opening date, both state that remodel approvals and permitting is expected to take approximately two to three months.
If both locations become Whataburger restaurants, they would be the second and third locations in East Tennessee. On Tuesday, residents spotted a business license for a Whataburger on a storefront along Cumberland Avenue in Knoxville.

The new location comes just a few months after privately-owned franchisee in East Tennessee and North Alabama, MWB Restaurants, included future locations for the Texas-based chain in Knoxville and Chattanooga on their website.
Whataburger was founded in Corpus Christ, Texas in 1950, and since has grown to include more than 1,000 locations across a dozen states. The restaurant is known for its famous burgers and 'Fancy Ketchup.'
