McDonald's to launch ‘iconic' menu item within days as part of big shake-up

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) MCDONALD'S is adding a brand new menu item to restaurants within days. The home of the Golden Arches is adding a new burger, called the Big Arch, The Sun can reveal. 1 McDonald's is launching a new burger The burger has two beef patties, topped with white cheddar cheese slices, crispy onions, fresh onions, shredded lettuce, crunchy pickles, and Big Arch sauce. It will be added to menus on Wednesday June 18, giving customers just a few weeks to wait. It costs £7.99 for the burger on its own or £9.99 for a medium meal - but prices vary based on your location. Thomas O'Neill, head of menu at McDonald's UK&I, said: 'A new iconic burger needs an equally iconic sauce, and we've taken it up a notch with the Big Arch. I tried the big arch burger By Sam Walker , Consumer Reporter THE first thing I noticed was how huge the burger is. I struggled from keeping the ingredients inside from spilling out, even with two hands wrapped around the poppy and sesame seed-topped bun. It's full of flavour and the sauce is richer and more peppery than the classic McDonald's burger sauce. I liked the white cheddar cheese square too. It's one of the more expensive options on menus, as it's £3.40 more expensive than a Big Mac - but it is bigger. "This isn't just about size, it's about flavour. "With double layers of beef, crispy onions, and the hero of the build, our signature sauce, every bite is crafted to hit the spot to satisfy serious McDonald's hunger. Big, bold, and packed with serious deliciousness.' Last month, fans were pleased to see the return of the McSpicy x Frank's RedHot burger and the meaty Steakhouse Stack once again. It features chicken breast in a hot and crispy coating, lettuce, jalapenos, onions, cheese and Frank's RedHot Mayo in a toasted sesame seed bun for £5.99 – or £7.99 as a meal. Also staging a comeback was the Steakhouse Stack – two beef patties, cheddar cheese, crispy and red onions, fresh lettuce and black peppercorn sauce in a glazed sesame bun – again priced at £5.99. The fast food chain also revamped the menu, introducing a Frozen Cherry Lemonade. But it's arrival meant the limited edition Minecraft meals and cheesy garlic dippers were no longer sold in stores. Why McDonald's Cancelled Its New Drive-Thru Plans in Scottish Town (1) MORE CHANGES AT MACCIES The news comes just days after The Sun revealed McDonald's had quietly axed the Chicken Bacon Caesar Wrap as part of a "rotation" of its offering. The wrap, which combined chicken breast strips, crispy onions, rashers of bacon and lettuce, was first launched in summer 2023. However, the home of the Big Mac said it was taken off menus earlier this month. A spokesperson added: "As part of our regular wrap rotation, we've taken the Caesar wrap off the menu for now. "We're always evolving our menu with our customers in mind to keep things fresh and exciting." Last October, McDonald's announced it was bringing back its iconic McRib after almost 10 years for a limited time. It came after customers begged for the pork-based sandwich, which first launched in 1981, to make a comeback. However, it was quietly discontinued the following month. A host of other items have come off menus in recent years to make way for new ones including the fan favourite Chicken Legend. The Breakfast Bagel and iconic Sundaes have also fallen off menus since 2018.

McDonald's fans fume after 'best ever' menu item is quietly discontinued

McDonald's fans are left fuming after 'best' menu item is quietly taken off the menu. The Chicken Bacon Caesar Wrap was a firm favourite among the fast food chains customers, after it launched in 2023. The burger chain discontinued the item as part of a 'rotation' of its menu, which the brand is known to do every few months. The popular wrap, which contained chicken breast strips, crispy onions, bacon and lettuce, wrapped in a soft tortilla, was removed from the menu earlier this month. A McDonald's spokesperson told The Sun: 'As part of our regular wrap rotation, we've taken the Caesar wrap off the menu for now. 'We're always evolving our menu with our customers in mind to keep things fresh and exciting.' McDonald's is known for shaking up the menu every few months and often items return. That means there is a chance the Chicken Caesar Wrap could make a return at some point in the future. It comes after McDonald's announced a new summer menu earlier this month with 12 tasty new additions including a fan favourite previously dubbed the 'best burger ever'. Launching in McDonald's restaurants across the UK, the new menu is set to feature the Biscoff McFlurry and Frappe, a spicy burger as well as a Pokemon Happy Meals for the kids. The ultra-popular Steakhouse Stack burger will make its much-anticipated return but it will set you back a little more than before. It features two juicy 100 per cent British and Irish beef patties, with cheddar cheese, crispy onions, red onion, lettuce, and a savoury black peppercorn sauce served in a toasted sesame bun and will only be available for a limited time. Originally launched in March 2023, it's been in and out of restaurants and instantly proved a huge hit with fast food fans. The fast food giant last relaunched the much-loved Steakhouse Stack in January 2024 for £5.39, however, now fans will have to fork out £5.99 for the burger alone. After the beloved burger was added to McDonald's menu last year, it created a buzz among customers. One user took to X, formerly known as Twitter: 'Whoever Ronald McDonald employed to invent the steakhouse stack deserves the world'. Another keen foodie said: 'The steakhouse stack was the best burger they've done in a long time'. A different user went as far as claiming: 'The steakhouse stack is the best burger on the McDonald's menu and nothing will convince me otherwise '. Another unlikely McDonald's fan agreed: 'The Steakhouse Stack from Maccies may just be the best burger I've ever consumed from that cesspit of a place wow'. More took to the social media platform to express their love for the burger: 'McDonald's steakhouse that's the best burger they've ever produced'. 'Steakhouse stack did not disappoint though' and 'Ngl the McDonald's Steakhouse Stack is very good'. One even expressed: 'Petition to keep the Steakhouse Stack for good', about the limited-edition item. But the Steakhouse Stack isn't the only exciting addition coming to McDonald's menus this summer. As the weather warms up the refreshing Frozen Cherry Lemonade is sure to be a hit. For £2.99 the icy beverage is a tangy frozen lemonade with a deliciously sweet cherry-flavoured swirl. Sweet-toothed diners will be delighted by the return of the Lotus Biscoff McFlurry and Frappe. The McFlurry, available in regular and mini sizes has crunchy Biscoff biscuit crumbs swirled into the soft serve. The Frappe has a vanilla flavour base, blended with ice and Biscoff biscuit crumb which is then topped with caramel-flavoured cream and a Biscoff crumb dusting. Customers who can handle the heat will want to try the McSpicy X Frank's RedHot burger with chicken breast in a hot and crispy coating, lettuce, cheese, jalapeños, slivered onions, and Frank's RedHot® Mayo all in a toasted sesame seed bun. For those who only want a taste of spice, the Frank's RedHot Mayo is perfect to dip a chip in and will be available separately exclusively in UK McDonald's locations. A new limited-edition Happy Meal will soon feature one of eight Dragon-Type Pokémon toys or one of two Little People Big Dreams books, 'I Can Make Amazing Music' or 'I Can Be a Wonderful Artist'. The special Happy Meal toys will be available from May 7 until June 17 so you better be quick. The limited-time Katsu Chicken One wrap with crispy or grilled chicken, coated in flavourful katsu sauce, onions, cucumber, and lettuce in a toasted tortilla is staying on the menu - and diners can get it for only £1.99 on Wednesdays. McDonald's fans split over new menu item with some branding it ‘vile' and demanding the return of the original

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) MCDONALD'S revamped its menu on Wednesday, reintroducing several fan favourites. Alongside these returning items, the chain launched a new limited-edition drink and brought back its popular Biscoff Frappe, which first debuted last year. 1 It is not uncommon for the fast-food giant to shake up what is sold across its 1,300 UK restaurants to make way for new items The fast-food giant has replaced its Strawberry Frozen Lemonade with a new Frozen Cherry Lemonade. Priced at £2.99, the drink is described as a tangy frozen lemonade blended with a delightfully sweet cherry-flavoured swirl. However, customers have been divided, taking to social media to share their opinions on the drink. One person said on Facebook: "I had it yesterday and it was vile. "It reminded me of medicine. "I loved the strawberry one though, bring that back." Another said: "No thanks, gutted the strawberry lemonade was taken off." A third customer said: "I'm not a fan it is sour and not nice." However, not every customer is unhappy with the drink. One person said: "Best thing for the summer this drink is." Six savvy McDonald's Menu hacks Another added: "Had one yesterday, it reminded of a sherbet sweet but it was nice. "Would be lovely and refreshing on a hot day" It is not uncommon for the fast-food giant to shake up what is sold across its 1,300 UK restaurants to make way for new items. Menus are often updated every few months or in line with certain events such as Easter or Christmas. And just because an item is discontinued does not mean it is gone for good. What else hit menus this week? McDonald's has brought back back the highly-anticipated Biscoff McFlurry and Biscoff Frappe. A regular tub of the new McFlurry will cost £2.29, while a smaller one comes in at £1.69. And the Biscoff Frappe – a vanilla flavour base blended with ice and biscuit crumb, topped with caramel cream and more biscuit bits – costs £3.09. On the savoury side, McDonald's has brought back the McSpicy x Frank's RedHot burger and the Steakhouse Stack, both priced at £5.99. The McSpicy features a hot and crispy chicken breast, paired with lettuce, jalapeños, onions, cheese, and Frank's RedHot Mayo, all served in a toasted sesame seed bun. It's also available as a meal for £7.99. Meanwhile, the Steakhouse Stack boasts two juicy beef patties, cheddar cheese, crispy and red onions, fresh lettuce, and a rich black peppercorn sauce, all tucked into a glazed sesame bun. Save money at McDonald's YOU could end up being charged more for a McDonald's meal based solely on the McDonald's restaurant you choose. The receipt should come with a 12-digit code which you can enter into the Food for Thought website alongside your submitted survey. Furious McDonald's fans hit out at 'wild' price hikes as the cost of some favourite items rise by up to 15% in a year

McDonald's fans have hit out at 'wild' price hikes as the cost of some favourite items rise by up to 15% in just a year. Regulars at the fast food chain have noticed that their burgers and fries are leaving a much larger dent in their wallets, with a Big Mac alone now costing £5.09. If you want to make this a meal, with a large fries and drink and a collectable Minecraft toy, this will now set you back £8.49. But it isn't only the cost of the menu that has raised eyebrows - it's how much the prices have soared in the last 12 months. For example, the Steakhouse Stack burger returned to menus this week - but it's 10% more expensive than in 2024. The Steakhouse Stack burger returned to menus this week - but it's 10% more expensive than in 2024 Last year, it cost £5.49 for the burger or £7.19. It is now £5.99 and £7.99 respectively. The Biscoff McFlurry is also back, with its price hiked 15% to £2.29. Some staple menu items have also increased in price, with the popular Mayo Chicken burger now £1.49, up from £1.39 in November last year. It is important to note, however, that McDonald's prices can vary on location. Customers are furious about the increases, with one person lamenting: 'Why has McDonald's gotten so expensive? 'More than £5 for a Big Mac is just wild.' Another person said: 'Ive stopped eating there a while ago, I always had couple of double cheeseburgers, they were £1.59 each and a wrap of the day that was £1.99. 'Right now double cheeseburgers are over 2 quid I think. It's just not worth it anymore. Big Mac is £5 and I will destroy it in 4 or 5 bites. I rather make food at home now.' A third simply said: 'McDonald's is expensive and not very good anymore.' McDonald's told The Sun that it has to 'review our prices' as it refuses to 'compromise on the quality of our ingredients'. A spokesperson said: 'Raising some prices means we are able to stand by our quality commitments, like our beef patties being made from 100% British and Irish beef or our Chicken McNuggets being made from 100% chicken breast. 'We know how much these mean to our customers.'

McDonald's sneakily hikes price of popular menu items as customers moan about increases

MCDONALD'S has sneakily hiked the price of some its popular menu items, The Sun can reveal. We've found the price of four items has jumped by up to 15% in the last 12 months. 3 One item that's risen in price is the Steakhouse Stack, which returned this week Credit: McDonald's 3 The Biscoff McFlurry was £1.99 last year but now it's £2.29 3 The Mayo Chicken was once 99p - now it's £1.39 Credit: McDonald's This week, Maccies brought back its popular Steakhouse Stack burger - but now it's around 10% more expensive. Last year, it cost 5.49 for the burger alone or £7.19 for a meal but now it's £5.99 and £7.99 respectively. Its Biscoff Frappe is also back, costing £3.09 - but it was £2.99 last year. While its Biscoff McFlurry is now £2.29, up from £1.99. That's an increase of a huge 15%. We've also spotted that its Mayo Chicken burger on its Saver menu is now £1.49, up from £1.39 in November last year. Prices at McDonald's do vary based on the location, partly due to some being franchises, which means they set their own prices. It's unclear if other items have also gone up in price, as McDonald's did not respond to our question on this matter. A spokesperson for McDonald's said it refused "to compromise on the quality of our ingredients – and that means when these ingredients cost more, we have to review our prices". It added: "Raising some prices means we are able to stand by our quality commitments, like our beef patties being made from 100% British and Irish beef or our Chicken McNuggets being made from 100% chicken breast. We know how much these mean to our customers. "Providing value remains an absolute priority. We continue to work tirelessly to ensure that every customer has a value offering that works for them." Customers' fury at price hikes Customers have been moaning on social media, including Reddit, about the increases. One said: "Why has McDonald's gotten so expensive?!!! More than £5 for a Big Mac is just wild." McDonald's Minecraft Taste Test - Sam Walker The post quickly got hundreds of comments, with plenty of people in agreement. "Ive stopped eating there a while ago, I always had couple of double cheeseburgers, they were 1.59 each and a wrap of the day that was 1.99," another commenter said. "Right now double cheeseburgers are over 2 quid I think. It's just not worth it anymore. Big Mac is 5 quid and I will destroy it in 4-5 bites. I rather make food at home now." Another person wrote: "I remember the days an extra value meal was £2.88." Pressure on prices Retailers and restaurant chains have been forced to pass cost increases on to customers in recent years because of rising inflation and business costs. The UK Government also last month raised the cost of National Insurance contributions for employers, making it more expensive to keep and hire employees. In January, Greggs also confirmed a hike to prices in its shops.
