How did your confidence change in Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers after his Pat McAfee interview?

On Tuesday, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers went on the Pat McAfee Show and did a huge interview about his courtship with the Steelers, his career, his private life, and his future. As is the norm for Rodgers, he was very open and honest about how he feels about the team and it was all very positive. Pittsburgh signed Rodgers in the offseason as a free agent to a one-year contract to be the most recent stopgap veteran, while the team continues to search for their next Ben Roethlisberger. In the interview, Rodgers gushed about the Steelers and head coach Mike Tomlin, raving about how he can't wait to play and perhaps finish his career with the Steelers. He also noted that he's looking forward to training camp at Latrobe. We want to hear from Steeler Nation if your confidence in Rodgers changed after the interview. Despite knowing Rodgers is one-and-done with Pittsburgh, do you feel better about him being on the team and giving the chance to break the playoff slump, or is Rodgers just a lame duck quarterback collecting a big check before he retires? Click on the post above and cast your vote. This article originally appeared on Steelers Wire: How did your confidence change in Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers after his Pat McAfee interview?

Major Steelers News Turns Heads on Thursday

Major Steelers News Turns Heads on Thursday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Pittsburgh Steelers have been one of the NFL's busiest teams this offseason as they gear up for what should be another tough AFC North campaign. Mike Tomlin's squad will feature plenty of new faces, but the front office just locked in one of its most important veterans off the field. Advertisement The team announced Thursday that general manager Omar Khan signed a new three-year contract that will keep him with the Steelers through at least the 2028 season. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero was first to report the news. Khan has been with the organization since 2001, starting as a football administration coordinator. He later moved up to director of football administration, then vice president of football and business administration. In 2022, he was officially named general manager. The move stirred plenty of reaction from fans online. As usual, Steelers Nation had mixed opinions. This fan gets it started: "So far it's been a lot of big swings but not a lot to show for it, that being said I'm extremely excited for this season. Think this is the first year u can really say the roster is built the way he wanted it to be + the clear plan to take a QB in 26. Well deserved." Advertisement "Feels premature tbh," questioned here. The typical Steelers question was addressed, "That means Tomlin stays if they have a .500 or better season." This commenter is not so sure, "Even (after) the Fitzpatrick trade?" Some positive light: "He's made some good deals and had a great draft. Needs to deal with the TJ situation to put the cherry on top." "Oh great, #MikeTomlin & #OmarKhan together for at least 2 mores years to provide the @steelers with more mediocre .500 football & no playoff wins. #TheNewSteelersStandard #HereWeGo," from this fan. Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Omar Khan© Charles LeClaire-Imagn Images Khan has been aggressive in reshaping the team. This offseason, he made a notable trade with the Seattle Seahawks to acquire wide receiver DK Metcalf in exchange for a second-round pick. The Steelers also signed veteran additions Kenneth Gainwell and Darius Slay. Advertisement At quarterback, Aaron Rodgers will take the reins. The four-time MVP turns 42 in December but brings unmatched experience to Pittsburgh. In the 2025 NFL draft, Khan added Oregon defensive tackle Derrick Harmon and Iowa running back Kaleb Johnson, who is expected to replace Najee Harris after his move to the Chargers. As the Steelers prepare for a high-stakes season, Khan's extension signals continuity at the top, even if fan opinions remain divided. Pat McAfee Expects Big Things from Aaron Rodgers: ‘Steelers Are Dancing in the Playoffs Yet Again'

Former Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee raved about the Pittsburgh Steelers' signing of four-time NFL MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers on the most recent episode of the Pat McAfee Show. McAfee, who's a Pittsburgh native, expects the future Hall of Fame QB to shine in the Steel City. 'We're a team that can contend. We were above .500 — absolute crap on the offensive side of the ball. If Aaron [Rodgers] can come in here, matriculate the ball down the field and eat up some clock — make smart choices and not have any turnovers — the Pittsburgh Steelers are dancing in the playoffs yet again,' McAfee said with confidence. 'And once they get into the playoffs, who knows? Especially with how good their defense is.' Advertisement The Steelers are currently on a eight-year playoff win drought, which has not occurred for the franchise since pre-1972. Steelers All-Pro outside linebacker T.J. Watt hasn't even won a playoff game in his decorated career. The Steelers are hoping Rodgers' could help snap the dreaded playoff win streak. In fact, the Steelers' Super Bowl odds went unchanged at BETMGM (+4500). The Steelers (22-1) have the eighth-best odds to win the AFC and third-best odds (+600) to win the AFC North. Pittsburgh's win total for the 2025 season is set at 8.5. Advertisement There's two reasons for why the odds were not altered. First, it was expected that Rodgers was going to sign with Pittsburgh (eventually). It really wasn't a secret. Second, at 41 years of age, how much of an impact will Rodgers have on the Steelers' season? He's an upgrade from Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, but he does not elevate Pittsburgh into the Super Bowl contenders category. Despite narratives that Rodgers is washed, it's hard to dispute that he's not the best quarterback the Steelers have had since Ben Roethlisberger retired after the 2021 season. Since 2022, Rodgers has 54 passing touchdowns. In that same time frame, the Steelers have had only 46 touchdown passes. Rodgers also had only one pass attempt in 2023 before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury. The four-time league MVP and future Hall of Fame quarterback showed he can still play good football last year with the New York Jets, throwing for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Advertisement Former NFL offensive lineman and current analyst Ross Tucker believes the Steelers are hoping for a Brett Favre-like 2009 season from Rodgers. Favre, who at age 40, passed for 4,202 yards, 33 touchdown and seven interceptions in 2009. He also had a career-best 107.2 quarterback rating. Favre led Minnesota to the NFC Championship, coming up just short 31-28 against the New Orleans Saints. 'Here what I will say about Aaron Rodgers, a couple thoughts. I believe the Steelers are hoping that he has his Brett Favre Vikings season in Pittsburgh this year. Remember when it was just OK for Favre with the Jets. Then he goes to the Vikings and in that first year he was awesome. I think that's what the Steelers are hoping for,' Tucker said on the Ross Tucker Podcast. Steelers got what they wanted, even if many fans are dismayed

The Steelers wanted him. Their fans weren't quite as committed. While plenty of Steelers fans surely support whatever the team chooses to do, a sense of dismay emerged from more than a few Terrible Towel wavers. Whether they regard Rodgers as a barnstorming opportunist who is hoping to exit the NFL with a better final chapter or whether they resent his failure to pounce on the team's interest in signing him (Cam Heyward's words resonated in Steelers Nation) or whether they simply don't like him, the anti-Aaron sentiment has been palpable. Beyond the anecdotal evidence of fans complaining about Rodgers, we posted a couple of polls that posed a simple question. The first one, in late March, generated a 55.9-percent 'no' vote. The second, a day after he appeared with Pat McAfee and aired grievances and spewed conspiracy theories, saw the negative response spike to 70 percent. If the Steelers play well, the naysayers will change their tune. But if the Steelers struggle and/or if Rodgers doesn't play dramatically better than the team's quarterbacks in recent years (the bar is fairly low), the fans will not keep quiet. For the team, the stakes are high. They've changed their ways in an effort to alter the outcome of the past eight seasons, which have featured zero playoff wins. That's the longest the Steelers have gone between playoff wins since the first time they won a postseason contest on December 23, 1972 — better known as the Immaculate Reception game.

Aaron Rodgers biographer is optimistic about Steelers chances

The ongoing saga of the Pittsburgh Steelers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers feels like it may never end. But perhaps, just perhaps, all this waiting will be worth it and the pairing will really happen and have some sort of storybook ending. This is the impression author Ian O'Connor gave when he was on 93.7 TheFan. O'Connor is a close friend of Rodgers and the author of his biography, Out Of The Darkness: The Mystery Of Aaron Rodgers, from 2024. O'Connor said he's willing to bet money that Rodgers will be with the Steelers by the start of mandatory minicamp Advertisement "I do think there will be a happy ending, at least for him and we will find out for the Steelers and their fan base," O'Connor said. "If I had $100 to put down, my feeling is he will be in uniform June 10th, for the start of the mandatory minicamp." O'Connor went on to make a prediction about the Steelers' season if he does sign, and I think most fans would be elated to get 11 wins and win a playoff game. "I actually think this is, maybe me as an optimist, I think this is going to work out," O'Connor said. "Do I think the Steelers are going to win the Super Bowl? No, but if you told me 11-6 with at least one playoff victory, the first with that franchise since 2016, I think that's realistic. I think that this could be a success story, and certainly a worthy ending for him." For all that's made of Rodgers, there's no doubt he's a huge upgrade over Mason Rudolph. The Steelers don't have a loaded offense of skill position players, but if there's a player to maximize guys like DK Metcalf, Pat Freiermuth, Calvin Austin, and Robert Woods, it's Rodgers 100 times out of 100.
