Brighton pursuing Olympiacos striker Charalampos Kostoulas

Brighton & Hove Albion are pursuing 17-year-old Olympiacos striker Charalampos Kostoulas. They have offered a fee of around £30million plus Abdallah Sima for the teenager regarded as one of the hottest young talents in Europe. Olympiacos, reluctant to lose Kostoulas, are expected to turn down the bid. They would also want a sell-on included in any deal. Advertisement Kostoulas helped Olympiacos to win the youth version of the Champions League last season with five goals in eight appearances. He has featured regularly for the first team in the Greek Super League and in the Europa League this season, contributing six goals and two assists in 29 appearances combined across the two competitions. Kostoulas has also represented his country in age groups from under-16 to under-21. Sima, 23, has been loaned out by Brighton to French sides Brest and Angers, as well as Glasgow Rangers and Stoke City, since joining from Slavia Prague in 2021. The Senegal forward is yet to make a senior appearance for his parent club. Brighton have already signed a teenage striker from Greece for next season. Stefanos Tzimas, 19, was bought at the end of the January window for a fee in excess of £20m and loaned straight back to Nurnberg in Germany's second tier for the rest of the season. Brighton's global recruitment strategy also saw them land in March for next season 18-year-old South Korean winger Yun Do-young from Daejeon Hana Citizen in his country's K1 League for an undisclosed fee and 19-year-old Sunderland winger Tommy Watson from Championship play-off finalists Sunderland for £10m. The Athletic reported on Thursday that Brighton are also pursuing a deal for Botafogo's Cuiabano and have had two bids rejected for the 22-year-old. Tzimas 'reminds me a bit of Suarez'

Brighton's new striker Stefanos Tzimas is a "bully" of a number nine, says football analyst Ben to BBC Radio Sussex's Albion Unlimited podcast, Mattinson said his arrival is another coup for the Seagulls' recruitment team: "There has been a change in the type of player that Brighton have gone for and who they are competing with. A lot of big clubs were looking at him and for them to won that is a huge statement."He has a lot of traits of the traditional number nine. At the same time, he has played in systems that have two up front. A lot of the time he has been the second striker because of how intelligent he is, how good he is at link-up play and how he brings others into the game. "He can receive the ball and carry it over long distances because of how powerful he is at running. When you're a team a bit lower down, having a player who can do that can really help you get up the pitch."His physicality is a big part of his game. He has a bit of that 'bully' trait about him. You have to be careful with comparisons, but if you were talking about his profile, he reminds me a bit of Suarez. He isn't huge, but he's everywhere and he is constantly at you. "That type of striker works really well with the way Brighton play."Listen to the full episode here
