Brighton pursuing Olympiacos striker Charalampos Kostoulas
Brighton & Hove Albion are pursuing 17-year-old Olympiacos striker Charalampos Kostoulas.
They have offered a fee of around £30million plus Abdallah Sima for the teenager regarded as one of the hottest young talents in Europe. Olympiacos, reluctant to lose Kostoulas, are expected to turn down the bid. They would also want a sell-on included in any deal.

Kostoulas helped Olympiacos to win the youth version of the Champions League last season with five goals in eight appearances. He has featured regularly for the first team in the Greek Super League and in the Europa League this season, contributing six goals and two assists in 29 appearances combined across the two competitions.
Kostoulas has also represented his country in age groups from under-16 to under-21.
Sima, 23, has been loaned out by Brighton to French sides Brest and Angers, as well as Glasgow Rangers and Stoke City, since joining from Slavia Prague in 2021. The Senegal forward is yet to make a senior appearance for his parent club.
Brighton have already signed a teenage striker from Greece for next season. Stefanos Tzimas, 19, was bought at the end of the January window for a fee in excess of £20m and loaned straight back to Nurnberg in Germany's second tier for the rest of the season.
Brighton's global recruitment strategy also saw them land in March for next season 18-year-old South Korean winger Yun Do-young from Daejeon Hana Citizen in his country's K1 League for an undisclosed fee and 19-year-old Sunderland winger Tommy Watson from Championship play-off finalists Sunderland for £10m.
The Athletic reported on Thursday that Brighton are also pursuing a deal for Botafogo's Cuiabano and have had two bids rejected for the 22-year-old.

PARIS — It is unusual to think of Novak Djokovic as not being the favorite to win a French Open semifinal, given that his greatest clay-court rival Rafael Nadal has retired. After all, Djokovic has won three titles at Roland-Garros among his men's record 24 Grand Slams. He also owns prestigious winning head-to-head records against 22-time major winner Nadal (31-29) and 20-time major champion Roger Federer (27-23).

Olympic star, 3-time pro champion Vasiliy Lomachenko announces retirement from boxing
Vasiliy Lomachenko has announced his retirement from boxing after a decorated career that included two Olympic gold medals and professional world titles in three weight classes. Lomachenko announced his decision with a video on social media Thursday. 'I am grateful for every victory and every defeat, both in the ring and in life,' Lomachenko said. 'I'm thankful that as my career comes to an end, I've gained clarity about the direction a person must take in order to achieve true victory.' The Ukrainian star burst onto the international boxing scene at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, when the 20-year-old prospect steamrolled the competition. He showed off athleticism, footwork and ring intelligence far beyond his years, clearly marking himself as a once-in-a-generation talent. But he eschewed the professional sport and returned to win gold at the London Games four years later alongside Oleksandr Usyk, his close friend and the future undisputed professional world heavyweight champion. After going 396-1 as an amateur, Lomachenko finally embarked on a pro career largely spent in the U.S. Lomachenko won the WBO featherweight title in his third professional fight in June 2014, beating Gary Russell Jr. after ordering his promoters to get him a near-immediate title shot after turning pro. He won the junior lightweight belt in 2016 by stopping Román Martínez, and he added the WBA lightweight world title in 2018, stopping Jorge Linares. Lomachenko finished his pro career 18-3 with 12 stoppage victories, incurring late-career decision losses to Teofimo Lopez and Devin Haney. 'It's been an honor for all of us at Top Rank to promote the pro boxing career of Vasiliy Lomachenko,' said Bob Arum, Lomachenko's U.S. promoter. 'He was a generational champion, and we will all miss his participation in the sport.' Lomachenko paused his career for several months after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and he has fought only three times since 2021. He stopped George Kambosos Jr. in the 11th round of his final bout in May 2024. ___ AP boxing:
