Canadian Taith Project visit to Ammanford Nursery School

The visit was part of the Taith Project, funded by the Welsh Government, which focuses on outdoor learning and developing innovative ideas. The Canadian group, many of whom were visiting Wales for the first time, experienced the local beauty and culture, as well as the educational environment at Ammanford Nursery School. This project has already seen staff from the school travel to Canada, Sweden, and Singapore, broadening their perspectives and bringing new strategies back to the school. A key focus of the Taith Project is pupil wellbeing, with the exchange providing opportunities to explore and implement new ways of supporting and enhancing this. The visit was organised by Steffan Phillips, a teacher at Ammanford Nursery School and the project coordinator. He arranged for the Canadian guests to visit various local schools, including Ysgol Gymraeg Rhydaman, Ysgol Bro Banw, Ysgol Gyfun Bro Myrddin, and Queen Elizabeth High School. The group also met with members of the local county council. The exchange of ideas, teaching practices, and cultural experiences has been seen as 'invaluable' by those involved. The school is keen to continue participating in such global partnerships through the Taith Project. A spokesperson from the school said: "The Taith Project has provided the school with enriching experiences across the globe. "The exchange of ideas, teaching practices, and cultural experiences has been invaluable, and we look forward to continuing our involvement in such impactful global partnerships."
