Black Ops 6's Next Season Begins August 7th

Black Ops 6's Next Season Begins August 7th originally appeared on GameDaily. Season 5 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 drops August 7th at 9 a.m. PT, according to the in-game Battle Pass timer. It's not confirmed to be the final season, but it may as well be. Seasons typically run for 8 weeks, and the first look at Black Ops 7 is scheduled for August 19th at Gamescom. COD typically releases in October or November, so I expect a release date announcement that will coincide with the end of Season 5. The main event is the new Zombies map, The Reckoning, set in Janus Towers. If you completed the Easter egg on Shattered Veil, you already know that players will team up with Richtofen to take on S.A.M. and wrap up the Dark Aether storyline. This was recently confirmed during an episode of the COD Pod, where Senior Communications Director Stephanie Snowden announced that Janus Towers will be the final Zombies map in Black Ops 6. Some fans expected more DLC drops, but it sounds like Treyarch is deciding to focus on Black Ops 7 instead. Multiplayer's getting some love too; new maps, modes, and a rumored return of Operator Sims as the Battle Pass headliner. Oh, and there's the crossover with I Know What You Did Last Summer to look forward to as well. Finally, the Battle Pass will bring the M249 LMG to the game. Info leaked by dataminers says we might also get the MP-40, M60, APS underwater rifle, and even a chainsaw. Not exactly subtle, but very on brand for this era of COD. If it works like the other seasons have, this season should run for eight weeks, with a mid-season update coming at the halfway point. With Zombies wrapping up and Black Ops 7 right around the corner, this is definitely one to show up for. This story was originally reported by GameDaily on Jul 28, 2025, where it first appeared.

Will Call of Duty Black Ops 7 have wall running?

Image via Activision. There is no doubt that Call of Duty Black Ops 7 has to be one of the most exciting announcements at the recently concluded Xbox Games Showcase 2025. This announcement trailer also confirmed the return of David Mason, face of the Black Ops series. However, the hottest topic regarding this upcoming CoD title is surely its movement mechanics. Black Ops 6 stunned everybody with its never-seen-ever movement scheme called Omni-movement. Now, the successor is believed to do the same, but will it bring back one iconic maneuver technique from the past? Call of Duty Black Ops 7 won't have wall-running Activision has recently stated that Call of Duty Black Ops 7 won't feature wall-running or jetpacks. This has been confirmed by the senior director of communications at Activision herself, Stephanie Snowden, in a new episode of COD Pod. Black Ops 7 Teaser Secrets EXPLAINED + BTS of How Finishing Moves are Really Made | COD POD Ep. 006 Wall-running is something we prevalently saw in older CoD titles like Black Ops 3, Advanced Warfare, and others. We have seen how the Omni-movement divided the CoD community in two halves. Some players found it pretty awesome, whereas a large chunk of the fanbase felt it killed the original Call of Duty vibe by prioritizing movement over gunplay. But before this wall-running was the most talked-about movement mechanism in this franchise. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Discover the best investment opportunity. سالك Learn More Undo Now, Omni-movement will likely be featured in Black Ops 7 as well. That is why fans also thought wall-running might make a return as well, keeping in mind its capability to sync with the Omni-movement. Not only that, there were even prominent leaks all around the internet when players started wall-running in Black Ops 6, which actually wasn't even a part of the game. Many people thought Activision might have added this feature in BO6 to try it out so that it can be added in BO7. But that's not the case. Snowden also confirmed that despite being released right after Black Ops 6, the upcoming title is set 30 years before Black Ops 3. After hearing this, the omission of wall-running makes a lot of sense as BO3 actually featured it. However, there has been several rumors from credible industry insiders that despite the absence of wall-running, Black Ops 7 might feature wall-jumping.
