Steph Waring admits 'I lost my s**t' as she recounts 'hysterically crying, shaking and begging' as she got sacked from Hollyoaks after 28 years in 'frantic' meeting

Stephanie Waring has recalled 'hysterically crying, shaking and begging' when she was sacked from Hollyoaks. The actress, 47, starred in the Cheshire soap on Channel 4 for 28 years from 1996 to 2024. Hollyoaks was hit by stringent budget cuts last year and cut down from five to three instalments a week, letting go of staff too. Stephanie's character, Cindy Cunningham, was axed by bosses and the star has delved into how she reacted in her book, Breaking The Script. She recalled how she had a meeting with two producers who broke the news to her by reading a written statement. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The star described how she struggled to process what was being said to her and as it sank in, she felt emotional at the departure of her beloved character. She wrote, 'But as the statement neared its close, before the final words were even spoken, I felt a tear roll down my cheek. I was shaking as I looked at the two of them.' 'Then it happened. 'And with that said, we will be losing Cindy from the show. I'm so sorry, Steph.' The world stopped for a second as I replayed those words in my head. Then… I lost my s***.' She was particularly heartbroken that her staple character would not be featuring in the big anniversary special. Stephanie went on to write, 'What? No! You mean you're not taking me to the 30th?' I blurted out, referencing the upcoming anniversary of the show – a milestone that meant so much to the long-standing cast. 'I don't understand. No, I don't understand. I don't understand!' I was frantic. 'But I've been so loyal. Please, no. This is my life. I love my job – please, no!' She described how she was 'hysterically crying' and added: 'I repeated myself, hoping one of them would see my distress and take it all back. Had they made a mistake? My world felt like it was imploding.' She signed her new contract which started from April 27 and her character departed in July. However, the short notice made her feel like she 'had swallowed a grenade' and she admitted to 'a few expletives rolling off my tongue like bullets'. Afterwards, she ran out of the room and found comfort from Kirsty Leigh Porter and Jennifer Metcalfe, who starred as Leela Dexter and Mercedes McQueen in the show. Since leaving the soap, Stephanie has gone on to become a 'certified mind-body coach', according to her social media. Her new book, Breaking The Script, was released earlier this week.

Meanwhile, Roundhead Bush Clover extract helps protect the skin from the oxidative stress caused by blue light exposure encountered throughout the day. The beauty bag must-have also works wonders if you struggle with larger pores, as the Deep Sea water - another ingredient in the list - helps minimise the appearance of them. Raving about the sleeping mask, Stephanie took to TikTok to show off the incredible results - which speak for themselves. I'm 50 next year & don't have a single wrinkle thanks to a product from Boots or TikTok shop - I've never had Botox ''I wanted to show you something. ''If you're going out the next day, put it on the night before. ''It really does give you a nice glow,'' she told her followers in the video. How is celery juice an anti-ageing potion? Celery juice is packed with antioxidants like vitamin C and flavonoids, which combat free radicals that cause cellular damage and aging. Its high water content keeps your skin hydrated and plump, reducing the appearance of wrinkles. The anti-inflammatory compounds in celery, such as apigenin and luteolin, help reduce chronic inflammation linked to ageing. Rich in essential nutrients like vitamin K and potassium, celery juice supports overall skin health and body functions. Drinking celery juice regularly can complement a balanced diet and skincare routine, promoting a youthful glow from within. AXED FROM HOLLYOAKS Steph joined Hollyoaks as Cindy Cunningham in 1996. The actress was on the show for 28 years and was on the very first series of the soap as an original character. She was part of a mass cast cull last year, which left her devastated. Steph revealed she broke down and begged bosses to change their minds when she received the news. Speaking exclusively to The Sun at the time, she said: "I was very distraught, I didn't take it well - I was probably the most dramatic person they told. 'I just kept telling them 'I'm an original character'. "I was clutching at anything - telling them 'but I was the first person to give birth on the show!' "I could see the distress I was causing them because they were upset that I was so upset." GETTING BACK TO WORK Back in April, Steph revealed she has wasted no time in getting back to work and has re-trained as a life coach. But at the same time she confessed her new work will never "come close to her passion of being an actor". Speaking on social media, she said: "Someone asked me a question yesterday and it was 'what work do you do?' And I thought, good point. "What work do I do? And the first thing that came to my head was I'm an actor. That's all I've known for the last 30 years. "It's really hard out there, it's not easy "And that's one of the reasons why I stayed in Hollyoaks for so long, because it was security and I was doing what I loved every single day. And I didn't even question it." Addressing her new choice of career, Steph continued: "I do have days where I'm sad and I miss it and I've realised that is what I do... "I am 100% focused on [it], I'm passionate about [it], but it won't ever come close to my passion of being an actor."

Hollyoaks star Stephanie Waring undergoing treatment as she announces health battle

Former Hollyoaks star Stephanie Waring has revealed she began losing her hair due to perimenopause - something she didn't even know she was experiencing Hollyoaks star Stephanie Waring has bravely shared her health battle as she told her followers that she's currently undergoing treatment. The soap star, 47, updated fans on Instagram as she revealed that she is now perimenopausal. After quietly struggling with unexpected hair loss, Steph has now opened up about the physical changes she's been experiencing and the steps she's taking to reclaim her confidence. ‌ The longtime Hollyoaks actress recently revealed that she began to notice her hair thinning significantly, especially while showering, prompting her to seek medical help. 'Even though I've got short hair, it just is all falling into place,' she shared. ‌ 'Before I got it caught, my hair was… I was losing a lot of it in the shower. So I was shredding quite a lot.' Steph was stunned to learn she was going through perimenopause, admitting: 'I was in perimenopause and I didn't even know that was. I had never even heard of it before.' Turning to the British Hair Clinic for answers, she began a non-invasive treatment called PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy, which involves using a patient's own blood to encourage regrowth and strengthen hair. Steph has been a familiar face on British screens since 1996, when she debuted as Cindy Cunningham in the very first season of Hollyoaks. But her time on the show came to an emotional end last year, following a major cast overhaul. The actress said she was heartbroken by the decision and pleaded with producers to let her stay. 'I was very distraught, I didn't take it well – I was probably the most dramatic person they told,' she confessed in an interview with The Sun. 'I just kept telling them 'I'm an original character'… I was clutching at anything - telling them 'but I was the first person to give birth on the show'.' ‌ Seeing how affected she was, Steph could tell the news hadn't been easy for producers either: 'I could see the distress I was causing them because they were upset that I was so upset.' Steph recently admitted that while she misses her time on the show, she has entered a very different chapter and now works a regular job helping other people. Sadly though, her new job will never reach the levels of passion she had for her acting career. ‌ Taking to social media, Stephanie recently revealed she is now a life coach after being asked by fans what she has been doing for work since being axed by the soap. 'I thought 'good point',' she said. She added: 'What work do I do? The first thing that came to my head was 'I'm an actor'. That's all I've known for the last 30 years and when I lost my job last year, I knew I would be in a place of vulnerability. 'Because it wasn't guaranteed that I was going to get another role and go onto the next project and the next project. It's really hard out there. It's not easy. And that's one of the reasons why I stayed in Hollyoaks for so long, because it was security and I was doing what I loved every single day. And I didn't even question it.' Stephanie added: 'So when I became vulnerable, I thought 'What else can I do that would give me purpose? And something that I was passionate about?' I've dealt with a lot of mental health in my life and when I decided to train as a life coach, I thought that this would help me in that respect and it did. I was my first client. 'All the tools that I've learnt that's helped me become a better version of myself – well I hope I have anyway, I think I'm just a work in progress, I think everybody is. I wouldn't say I've got it all figured out. There are things that I've learnt and that's why I developed the hand book, it's a six-week reset that can help anyone who's feeling a bit stuck. Just to the point, tips and tools. It's not about that. I just wanted to jump on and be a bit vulnerable, I suppose.'
