A 23-year-old man is facing charges under the traffic safety act after he was allegedly caught driving double the speed limit.
The man was pulled over on Saturday on Highway 2 east of High Prairie by an RCMP officer doing traffic enforcement.
Police say he was driving 207 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.
'We want to take this opportunity to remind the public of the dangers of driving at these excessive speeds,' RCMP Const. Stephen Zuk said in a news release.
'Reaction times are lowered and other drivers, not anticipating such speeds, can thus miscalculate their manoeuvres and be put in danger. We will keep up with our ongoing traffic enforcement efforts in order to maintain safe roadways for all.
The Fairview man was given two court summons for careless driving and speeding.
