‘Minecraft' Finally Hits No. 1

The music of the Minecraft universe has become hugely popular in 2025, bolstered by the release of A Minecraft Movie. The family flick is already the second-highest-grossing film of the year, and its popularity at the box office has assured that all things related to the brand soar. The project also produced a hit song in "Steve's Lava Chicken," performed by Jack Black throughout the film. That tune seems to have reignited interest not only in Minecraft itself but also in the music associated with the game. This week, the excitement around A Minecraft Movie resulted in a major chart win. In the United Kingdom, Minecraft has now spawned a No. 1 album. The full-length Volume Alpha, taken not from the film, but the video game, rises one spot to reach the summit of the Official Soundtrack Albums chart for the first time. Last frame, the set, credited to electronic musician C418, reached a new peak of No. 2. It was held back by the Summer of Soul soundtrack, which was connected to the Oscar-winning documentary of the same name. That release now dips to tenth place. When it comes to albums, Volume Alpha is the only Minecraft-related project climbing the years-old set appears on two other tallies, but it falls on both, dropping by double-digit spaces on the Official Physical Albums and Official Albums Sales charts. Meanwhile, Volume Beta, also by C418, dips three spaces to No. 19 on the Official Soundtrack Albums ranking, as it is clearly not enjoying the same success as its predecessor. The Minecraft movie soundtrack isn't found on the soundtracks-only tally, but it does land on the Official Compilations chart. It debuted at No. 19 on that roster last time around, and it now slides to No. 26. "Steve's Lava Chicken," the breakout hit from A Minecraft Movie, is also on the decline, though it remains a top 40 hit on four different charts across the Atlantic. The Black-performed tune stands strongest on the Official Singles roster — the all-encompassing ranking of the most-consumed songs in the nation — where it slips from No. 10 to No. 19 in its sixth frame on the list. It can also be found on the Official Streaming, Official Singles Sales, and Official Singles Downloads tallies, as it continues to perform well across all major consumption metrics.

Trivium Frontman Accidentally Asks Fans to Hold Up Sex Toys at Concert: Watch

The post Trivium Frontman Accidentally Asks Fans to Hold Up Sex Toys at Concert: Watch appeared first on Consequence. Trivium frontman Matt Heafy had an amusing slip of the tongue at one of his band's recent concerts, essentially asking the audience to hold up sex toys during the show. The verbal slip came during Trivium's Boston show at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway on Friday night (May 2nd), when Heafy told the crowd, 'Literally light us up with your cellphone lights, your flashlights, your lighters, your fleshlights … fleshlights? [laughter], I meant flashlights!' With the crowd laughing, as well, Heafy added, 'I hope someone recorded that.' Get Trivium Tickets Here Someone indeed recorded it, and Heafy posted the video on his X/Twitter account the next day (watch below), writing (with tongue firmly planted in cheek), 'I'd like to formally apologize for what I said last night on stage. I can and will do better.' For those not in the know, a fleshlight is … ah, just look it up. Trivium are currently in the midst of a co-headlining North American tour with Bullet for My Valentine. The outing runs through a May 18th show in Raleigh, North Carolina, with tickets to the upcoming dates available here. See Matt Heafy's X/Twitter post featuring video of the hilarious incident along with his commentary below. Jack Black's ‘Minecraft' Song Keeps Growing, Even As The Movie Falls From No. 1

Jack Black lands a Hot Rock Songs top 10 hit with 'Steve's Lava Chicken' from the Minecraft movie, ... More as the viral track charts on seven Billboard rankings. (Photo by Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic) Jack Black might not have realized when he recorded 'Steve's Lava Chicken' for A Minecraft Movie that the tune would go on to become such a big hit. He may have guessed that fans would love it within the film and that it might even cross over and rack up some streams and a few sales, but its performance on the charts all around the world has quickly become undeniably impressive. The track has been gaining ground fairly consistently, even after the movie that made it famous dropped out of the top spot at the box office. This frame in America, the cut climbs on multiple lists, debuts on several others, and even manages to give Black a very special top 10 win on a competitive tally. Among the seven Billboard charts where 'Steve's Lava Chicken' can currently be found, its performance is perhaps most impressive on the Hot Rock Songs list. That tally — which highlights the most consumed rock tracks in America using a methodology that blends sales, streams, and radio play — sees the Minecraft cut rise from No. 14 to No. 10. As it ascends, it becomes Black's first top 10 hit on the all-encompassing rock list. 'Steve's Lava Chicken' is actually Black's only tune under his own name to reach that roster. He has appeared on the Hot Rock Songs chart in the past as one-half of Tenacious D, although both of the group's smashes 'Video Games' and '…Baby One More Time' didn't even crack the top 20, peaking at Nos. 22 and 24, respectively. The tune also manages to rise on one other list. It nearly breaks into the top 10 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart — and may very well do so in a week or two. This time around, in its third frame on that list, which also includes alternative tunes and is thus more competitive than the Top Rock Songs roster, it jumps from No. 19 to a new high of No. 12. 'Steve's Lava Chicken' has now reached the uppermost tier on a pair of Billboard lists. Last frame, it debuted at No. 6 on the Rock Digital Song Sales chart, ranking among the bestselling tunes in the style. It currently still lives inside that space, though it drops slightly from its No. 6 high point to No. 8. Black's surprise hit debuts on a quartet of additional rankings. It opens highest on the Rock Streaming Songs list at No. 14 and also manages to crack the hugely competitive Hot 100, where it begins its time at No. 78. 'Steve's Lava Chicken' also now stands out as one of the biggest songs all around the world. It enters the Billboard Global 200 at No. 97 and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. at No. 179.

Trump Announces 100% Tariff on Movies Made Outside of America

The post Trump Announces 100% Tariff on Movies Made Outside of America appeared first on Consequence. Donald Trump has announced a 100% tariff on 'any and all' movies 'coming into our Country that are produced in Foreign Lands.' The announcement was made Sunday night in a post on his social media network, Truth Social. 'The Movie Industry in America is DYING a very fast death. Other Countries are offering all sorts of incentives to draw our filmmakers and studios away from the United States. Hollywood, and many other areas within the U.S.A., are being devastated,' Trump wrote. 'This is a concerted effort by other Nations and, therefore, a National Security threat. It is, in addition to everything else, messaging and propaganda!' 'Therefore, I am authorizing the Department of Commerce, and the United States Trade Representative, to immediately begin the process of instituting a 100% Tariff on any and all Movies coming into our Country that are produced in Foreign Lands,' Trump continued. 'WE WANT MOVIES MADE IN AMERICA, AGAIN!' A number of major upcoming Hollywood films are produced—either partially or entirely—outside of the United States in order to qualify for generous tax credits offered by other countries. Such titles include Marvel's Avengers: Doomsday, which is being filmed in the UK; Lucasfilm's Star Wars: Starfighter, also being shot in the UK; and Avatar: Fire and Ash, which was produced in New Zealand. It's unclear whether Trump's announcement is targeting these types of titles, foreign-made films in general, or both. Trump's announcement appears to stem from a recommendation made by actor Jon Voight, one of the president's 'special ambassadors' to Hollywood. Per Deadline, Voight has held conversations with union representatives and studio executives about ways to bring productions back to the US, including the possibility of offering federal tax incentives to studios. While there's skepticism that the Trump administration would support such an incentive—especially amid broader cost-cutting efforts—the implementation of a tariff could be Trump's alternative approach to achieving a similar outcome. Brazilian Police Thwart Bomb Attack on Lady Gaga's Copacabana Beach Concert

The post Brazilian Police Thwart Bomb Attack on Lady Gaga's Copacabana Beach Concert appeared first on Consequence. Police in Brasil say they thwarted a bomb attack planned during Lady Gaga's massive concert at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday night. The alleged plot involved a group promoting hate speech against the LGBTQ+ community. 'The suspects were recruiting participants, including minors, to carry out coordinated attacks using improvised explosives and Molotov cocktails,' police said in a statement (via Reuters). The suspected leader of the plot was arrested in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul for illegal possession of a firearm, while more than a dozen search and seizure warrants were carried out across the states of Rio de Janeiro, Mato Grosso, Rio Grande do Sul, and São Paulo. The operation was reportedly based on a tip from Rio de Janeiro's state police intelligence, which uncovered digital cells encouraging violent behavior among teenagers using coded language and extremist symbolism. An estimated 2.5 million fans in attendance for Gaga's concert at Copacabana Beach, which set a new record for the highest attended concert by a female artist in history.
