Swindon youngster heads out on loan to Non-League outfit
Swindon Town goalkeeper Redman Evans will spend the next four months in Non-League after he agreed a loan move to Alvechurch. As pre-season looks to get underway, Evans will get the chance to get his feet under the table and begin next season with Alvechurch in the Southern League Premier Central Division after a four-month loan deal was agreed. Advertisement Swindon have been swift in assembling their goalkeeping department, with Lewis Ward arriving as an experienced back-up for Connor Ripley, who agreed to stay on for another two seasons when signing his new contract after being hugely impressive in the second half of last term. These moves have allowed Swindon to send Evans on loan as he enters the final year of his first professional contract to continue his development by playing regular football, as opposed to backing up Ripley. He's worked hard over the past year and shown real promise. 'A loan spell at Alvechurch will give him the chance to develop his game further, adapt to senior football, and return to us stronger. We'll be monitoring his progress closely throughout.' Evans was a standout performer in Town's run to the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals in 2023/24, hugely impressing staff with his development that season both as a player and as a character over the course of the campaign. This earned him a professional contract, alongside Joel McGregor, Jaxon Brown, and Sonny Hart, and last year he played at Westbury United and Hungerford Town on loan, becoming a firm favourite at both clubs. Advertisement Although he remains in step three at the start of his loan, it will give him the opportunity to continue playing regular football and hopefully continue to progress up the pyramid. The move will also see him play under former England goalkeeper Tim Flowers, who is the manager at Alvechurch, who are also the club that produced Jacob Wakeling. Swindon have been swift in trying to secure opportunities for their young players this summer. Hart went on trial with a Non-League side after his impressive spell at Farnborough last season, although he has been in training with Town this week, so it is unclear whether that loan will materialise. Brown, Dylan Mitchell, Ant McCormick, George Alston, and Dani Gonzalez have all also been part of the first-team squad so far, but are all likely to be given the chance to go out for more regular playing time this season.

Goalkeeper Ward returns to Swindon Town
Goalkeeper Lewis Ward has joined Swindon Town for a third time. The 28-year-old returns to the League Two club on a one-year deal after leaving AFC Wimbledon at the end of last season. Ward played 19 times for the Robins in the 2021-22 season and made eight appearances in a six-month stay a year later. Advertisement He played in four EFL Trophy games for the Dons last season and counts Exeter City, Portsmouth, Sutton United and Forest Green Rovers among his former clubs. He will bring competition to Connor Ripley for the starting spot in goal. "I'm looking forward to being back," Ward told the club website. "The opportunity just felt right to return. "I had really good conversations with Steve Mildenhall (Swindon goalkeeping coach) over the off-season, came back in training with the group, and from the first conversation with the manager (Ian Holloway), everything just seemed to fit together. "The manager and Steve played a huge part in my reason to return to the club; everything we've discussed is everything I wanted to hear."
