Bloomington School District offering free meals to kids this summer
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — Bloomington Public School District 87 announced that it will help provide free meals to kids this summer.
The school district will be sponsoring the Summer Food Service Program, which will be offering free lunch at 11 locations across Bloomington, said Caroline Bubulka, the director of school nutrition and wellness coordinator.
The 11 locations where free lunch will be offered will include:
Irving Elementary School
Sheridan Elementary School
Stevenson Elementary School
Bloomington High School
The Boys & Girls Club
Bloomington Public Library
Friendship Park
City of Refuge Ministries
Holton Homes
Miller Park
Wood Hill Family
Breakfast will also be offered at Bloomington High School, the Boys & Girls Club, Irving Elementary School, Sheridan Elementary School and Stevenson Elementary School.
Each breakfast will provide grain, milk and fruit, and each lunch will include meat or a meat alternative, grain, vegetables, fruit and milk.
The meals are free for anyone 18 and younger, but anyone 19 and up can still purchase meals for $3.50 each.
No meals will be served on June 19 or July 4 due to the holidays. A full list of mealtimes is available here.
