Stokke Launches The Yoga: Swing Or Bounce In One Simple Baby Seat

Stokke, the Scandinavian makers of the wildly popular Tripp Trapp high chair, recently launched their latest addition to the baby gear world: the Stokke Yoga. At first glance, the Yoga may look like a traditional baby bouncer, but upon closer inspection, it's actually more of a hybrid bouncer/swing, thanks to an innovative two-motion design that can rock either side to side or up and down to suit your baby's preference. The dual-motion Stokke Yoga both bounces and swings. The motor-free movement is initially powered by the caregiver, but as your baby starts moving a bit more, they can rock themself as they kick their legs. The dual motion is aimed to make the baby feel as if they're being cradled by their parent. Three recline positions and an included newborn cushion make it easy to use right away, even with infants dealing with reflux. The Yoga itself is lightweight, so it can easily be moved from room to room, but it can hold up to 20 pounds—a size that on average babies reach between 10 months and 1 year old. Like all Stokke products, the Yoga's minimalist lines lend a decidedly modern aesthetic, helping it blend with grown-up home design. It has FSC-certified European beechwood legs and breathable mesh fabric (cotton on top, polyester on the bottom) to help keep the baby cool and comfy, while the padded five-point harness helps keep your baby secure. And, yes, the fabric is both removable and machine washable. You simply unzip it on the back to take it off. Amazon 'The setup was very easy, basically you just need to attach the seat to the base," says expecting baby and kids gear editor Margaret Badore, who is testing the Yoga. While the user manual is mostly pictures (think IKEA), she says the instructions were 'pretty easy to understand.' 'I think the most unique thing about this bouncer is the side-to-side sway, which is quiet and smooth—but you can also lock the bouncer so it only goes up and down,' she says. We spoke to Stokke's vice president of innovation Martha Jørgenvåg, who says the Yoga took three years of comprehensive design work, expert insights and in-depth conversations with families to learn what they felt was missing in other products when they tried to soothe their babies. The Stokke Yoga in use. 'Many were using multiple movement options as babies prefer a variation of movement depending on their mood, but still felt unsatisfied with what was available,' says Jørgenvåg. 'Having the flexibility to switch between two movements based on the baby's mood or needs at the moment allows for greater control in soothing and engaging the little one," she says, adding that more rocking options make it easier for parents to navigate a wide range of situations. "As we all know—a happy baby, means happy parents.' The movements were also specifically designed to aid a baby's overall development. When babies kick and move to initiate the bouncing motion, it can help strengthen their motor skills while the swinging motion 'supports balance and coordination,' according to Jørgenvåg. As for why it's called the Yoga? Jørgenvåg says, 'the name is inspired by the tradition of yoga, a practice known for its gentle movements that both activates the body and relaxes the mind.' At $299, the Yoga is definitely more expensive than some of its bouncer-swing combo counterparts, like the Graco Soothe 'N Sway LX Swing With Portable Bouncer ($150). However, it's also considerably lighter and less bulky, and has a more elevated design than many baby swings on the market. Forbes Vetted plans to further test the Stokke Yoga—we suspect that parents who like its looks and high-quality materials may find it's worth the splurge. The Stokke Yoga is currently available at major retailers like Amazon, Nordstrom and Crate & Kids. You can also order it directly from the Stokke site.

STOKKE DEBUTS YOGA, INNOVATIVE DUAL MOTION BABY BOUNCER AND SWING

Stokke, the renowned Scandinavian brand behind the Tripp Trapp®, announces the launch of the Stokke Yoga, setting a new standard for baby bouncers and swings. Offering two motions in one unique design, the Stokke® Yoga™ is the first of its kind, featuring innovative dual-motion technology with motor-free bouncing and swinging movements, initiated by the baby or caregiver. Developed with input from physiotherapists, the Yoga is designed to soothe, stimulate, and support development. The unique movement is patent-pending and made to trigger the vestibular system through swinging, bouncing, and rocking, giving babies the stimulation they naturally crave. Through these motions, the Yoga can improve balance, soothe little ones, and support essential developmental milestones like posture, sitting, crawling, and walking. Made with modern families in mind, the Yoga™ features breathable mesh fabric with a soft cotton top and polyester underneath, ensuring comfort while releasing heat to keep babies cool. It includes three recline positions for different developmental stages, a removable newborn cushion for infants up to 20 lbs, and a thoughtful ergonomic design to support even the tiniest newborns. The legs are crafted from FSC-certified European beechwood, the same durable material used for the iconic Tripp Trapp® chair. With the Yoga's unique combination of bouncing and swinging, it mimics the soothing rhythm of being cradled in a parent's arms, offering both comfort and developmental benefits. 'Parents intuitively use movements that imitate patterns of nature, like waves or the motions of the womb, to soothe or stimulate their newborns,' shares Designer Bianca Hanauer. 'Stokke® Yoga™ mimics these natural movements, which also helps infants slowly learn how to swing or bounce themselves.' Assembly is quick and tool free, simply snap in the pole and adjust it to the ideal position. Disassembly is just as easy, with the bouncer folding flat for convenient storage or travel. The Stokke® Yoga™ is available now on Stokke's website.
