Angola receives upgraded floating oil platform from China
LUANDA, May 16 (Xinhua) -- The upgraded Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel Agogo arrived in Angolan waters on Friday after departing from the Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry shipyard in China.
Operations are scheduled to begin in the second half of 2025.
"The arrival of the FPSO Agogo in Angola is of great significance... The project involved several challenging stages, but also reflects the strength of the right partnerships and the determination of our human capital," said Paulino Jeronimo, chairman of Angola's National Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG).
The Agogo FPSO is built and operated by Singapore-headquartered Yinson Production. The vessel underwent life extension and second-phase upgrading works at the Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry in Shanghai.
With a daily capacity of 120,000 barrels, the vessel will help develop Angola's Agogo and Ndungu oil fields in Block 15/06. The Agogo field holds an estimated 450 million barrels and is expected to peak at 175,000 barrels per day.
