Away from storms, especially south of Houston, it will be a windy and muggy day. Heavy rain possible at coast Wednesday We will most likely see rain return to Galveston, Brazoria and surrounding areas through the day Wednesday with 2-3' of rain possible. Isolated storms are possible elsewhere. Houston weather: Scattered rain ahead of severe weather on Tuesday
The Brief Scattered Storms Begin Late Today Heavy Rain & Severe Weather Threat Tuesday Wednesday Looks Wet Again HOUSTON - Clear and cool Monday morning, then mostly cloudy and breezy with late day rain and highs near 80. The National Weather Service has highlighted areas west of I-45 late for a chance for strong storms late today and our entire area with a risk of severe weather on Tuesday. Timing on storms begins this afternoon and evening to the west and northwest of Houston for places like Sealy, Hempstead and College Station. Tomorrow brings the threat for heavy storms, especially north of Houston with 4" of rain very likely. Spotty amounts of 3" will be possibly closer to Houston and surrounding suburbs by afternoon and evening with some rain lingering on Wednesday. Given the recent, very heavy rain in Grimes, Walker, Polk, San Jacinto and Trinity Counties (among many others), the NWS has placed those areas under a Flood Watch beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday. Although not under advisories just yet, pockets of heavy rain could affect Houston as well. Also, some of the stronger storms could drop hail and high winds, so Tuesday is a Fox 26 Storm Alert Day and Wednesday could have lingering storms as well. Houston weather: Calm Sunday night; Storm Alert Day on Tuesday
The Brief Beautiful Weekend! Pleasant Sunday Evening Storms Return Midweek HOUSTON - The beautiful weekend ends with a very pleasant evening across southeast Texas. This storm system will eventually impact Houston as it progresses across the state. Look for increasing clouds and humidity with gusty southeast winds. Rain chances build up during the afternoon hours, but nothing too strong or severe is expected on the first day of the work week. Several rounds of rain are expected in the middle of the week starting on Tuesday afternoon. The Storm Prediction Center has placed most of the FOX26 area at a level 2 of 5 for severe storms on Tuesday, making it a FOX 26 Storm Alert Day. On Wednesday, the coastal counties will be slightly more favored to see additional showers and storms. Hail, strong winds, and isolated tornadoes are possible on Tuesday and Wednesday. Houston weather: Strong storms possible north of Houston on Thursday, Storm Alert Day for Friday
The Brief Few Strong Storms North This Evening Fox 26 Storm Alert Day Friday eavy Rain Potential, then Improving this Weekend HOUSTON - Strong storms will be possible on Friday across the Houston area. As a result, a FOX 26 Storm Alert Day has been issued ahead of the impending weather. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 9 p.m. northwest of Huntsville and Houston that includes College Station, Waco and Austin. Watch out for a few strong storms that could reach Huntsville, Navasota, and Brenham before midnight. The real action could arrive by Friday afternoon and evening with a line of slow-moving heavy storms possible. Friday is a Fox 26 Storm Alert Day to give you a heads up that impactful weather is on the way. Biggest risk will likely be the threat for some flooded streets. Our skies should gradually clear on Saturday as drier air moves in from the north. By Sunday and Monday mornings, lows are expected to drop into the low 60s, so that will be refreshing. Afternoon temperatures will climb to the middle 80s. A rather intense jet stream disturbance will move over Texas around Tuesday through Thursday of next week, so storms look likely again. It's too early to talk about locations or rain amounts, but just keep in mind that other than Sunday and Monday, the weather will stay "unsettled."
