Former Five-Star Recruit Sends Message to Departing Kansas Star

AJ Storr had a nice breakout campaign as a sophomore during the 2023-24 season as a member of the Wisconsin Badgers when he averaged 16.8 points a game after managing just 8.8 points a game as a freshman. He transferred to Kansas for this past season, but his scoring fell to 6.1 points per game and he was only able to hit on 38.4% of his field-goal attempts. Advertisement He recently entered the transfer portal, and he has now announced that he will be playing for Ole Miss during the 2025-26 campaign. He made the announcement on his personal Instagram account on Tuesday. Elmarko Jackson, a Kansas guard who was once a five-star recruit, replied to Storr's post. "Let's go ajila," Jackson wrote. Storr is 6-foot-7 and 205 pounds, and he can play both the off-guard and small forward positions. He showed some promise as a 3-point shooter during his freshman year, but he has shot a low percentage from 3-point range over the last two seasons. He isn't an effective defender, but he can use his athleticism and size to score from all three levels. Storr came off the bench to score 15 points on 4-of-7 shooting in that game. Advertisement Meanwhile, Ole Miss made it to the Sweet Sixteen, where it lost by three points to Michigan State. This will be the fourth college Storr has played for in as many seasons. He was at St. John's as a freshman before heading over to the Badgers the following year. Former Wisconsin basketball standout AJ Storr finds new team, his fourth in four years

Former Wisconsin basketball standout AJ Storr finds new team, his fourth in four years AJ Storr will now try his hand at the Southeastern Conference. The former Wisconsin Badgers basketball standout is continuing his tour across college basketball when he announced his commitment to Mississippi, his fourth team in the last four years. Advertisement The SEC will be the fourth conference Storr will play in during his college career. He began his career at St. John's of the Big East before transferring to Wisconsin for his sophomore season. After a breakout season playing in the Big Ten, he took his talents to Kansas of the Big 12 after reportedly getting a huge NIL payout worth up to $750,000. Next stop, Mississippi. "On my way!" Storr wrote on Instagram with a photo of himself wearing a team jersey. Storr was a second-team all-Big Ten player when he started all 36 games for Wisconsin in 2023-24 and led the Badgers with 16.8 points per game. But his playing time and production dropped last season at Kansas. He came off the bench and averaged just 6.1 points — sixth on the team — and was seventh in minutes played at 15.7. Advertisement Storr joins a Mississippi team that advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament last season as a No. 6 seed, beating No. 11 North Carolina in the first round and then upsetting No. 3 Iowa State in games played at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. Mississippi (24-12) lost to Michigan State, 73-70, in the Sweet 16. This article originally appeared on Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Ex-Wisconsin basketball star AJ Storr transfers to Mississippi

Former Wisconsin basketball star guard reveals transfer decision

Former Wisconsin basketball star guard reveals transfer decision Former Wisconsin basketball star wing A.J. Storr committed to Ole Miss on Tuesday, according to multiple reports. The 6-foot-7 junior guard, who played for the Kansas Jayhawks during the 2024-25 season, will join his fourth program in as many college seasons, dating back to his freshman campaign at St. John's. Notably, Storr spent the 2023-24 slate with Greg Gard's program in Madison. That season was easily his best -- the Illinois native averaged 28.8 minutes, 16.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 0.9 assists while shooting 43% from the field and 32% from 3 as UW's clear-cut No. 1 offensive option. His performance helped the team finish in the top five of the Big Ten standings and clinch an NCAA Tournament berth. Storr earned a spot on the All-Big Ten Second Team that season and was named to the 2024 Big Ten All-Tournament Team after leading the Badgers to the title game against Illinois. He dropped at least 20 points in 11 of 36 games as a Badger, plus scored under 10 points just twice. The standout guard elected to forgo the NBA draft and enter the transfer portal after that breakout season. He committed to Kansas, one of college basketball's premier programs, as 247Sports' No. 4 overall player in the transfer cycle. He struggled to develop a role with the Jayhawks, averaging just 15.7 minutes 6.1 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game, while shooting a career-worst 38.4% from the floor and 29% from 3. He finished with five points or fewer in 19 of the team's 34 games, including six performances without a single point. That turbulence didn't appear to drastically impact Storr's transfer stock, however. The rising senior reentered the portal after the 2024-25 campaign. He commits to Ole Miss as 247Sports' No. 49 overall transfer and No. 10 small forward. While brilliant in his one season at Wisconsin, Storr's career is defined by the number of his stops. Prior to college, he played four seasons of high school basketball with four different schools -- Kankakee High School (Illinois), Bishop Gorman High School (Nevada), AZ Compass Prep (Arizona) and IMG Academy (Florida). Ole Miss will mark his eighth new program in as many years. Chris Beard and the Rebels will now roster Storr with hopes of rediscovering the capabilities he showcased with the Badgers. The Rebels enter 2025-26 looking to build off their Elite 8 appearance in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The team will now do so with Storr as one of its leading options. Former Wisconsin basketball star again one of the transfer portal's top-ranked players

Former Wisconsin basketball star again one of the transfer portal's top-ranked players Former St John's, Wisconsin and Kansas wing A.J. Storr remains in the transfer portal as of April 14. Storr entered the portal for the third time in as many seasons earlier this month, following Kansas' NCAA Tournament first-round loss to Arkansas. The rising senior struggled to find steady footing with the Jayhawks in 2024-25, averaging just 15.7 minutes, 6.1 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.7 assists while shooting a career-worst 38.4% from the floor and 29% from 3. That production fell far below expectations after the wing joined the program as 247Sports' No. 4 overall player in the 2024 transfer cycle. Of course, that high ranking was due to a standout 2023-24 season with the Badgers, during which Storr averaged 28.8 minutes, 16.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 0.9 assists while shooting 43% from the field and 32% from 3. He and star point guard Chucky Hepburn led the Badgers to a top-five finish in the Big Ten and an NCAA Tournament appearance. Despite being a full season removed from that strong performance, with that year including relative struggles on one of the sport's more disappointing teams, Storr is again one of 247Sports top-ranked transfers. The 6-foot-6 wing is currently a four-star transfer prospect, ranked specifically as the portal's No. 49 overall player and No. 10 small forward. There have been few headlines regarding Storr's potential transfer landing spots. That is despite his status as a top-50 transfer, which would typically attract interest from major programs. Storr's commitment and performance during the upcoming season will be worth watching. Wisconsin had little trouble replacing his production in a suddenly high-powered offense. John Tonje, 2024's No. 296 overall transfer, broke out with an All-American season, falling just short of the program's single-year scoring record. Storr, meanwhile, is still looking to replicate his form and production from that 2023-24 campaign with the Badgers. Former Wisconsin basketball guard, leading scorer reenters transfer portal

Former Wisconsin basketball guard, leading scorer reenters transfer portal NEWS: Kansas wing AJ Storr has entered the transfer portal, sources told ESPN. Averaged 6.1 points this season after averaging 16.8 points as a sophomore at Wisconsin in 2023-24. — Jeff Borzello (@jeffborzello) April 3, 2025 Former Wisconsin guard A.J. Storr has reentered the transfer portal, as first reported by ESPN's Jeff Borzello. Storr spent the 2024-25 season at Kansas after a high-profile decision to transfer away from Wisconsin last offseason. The veteran guard struggled to find a consistent role with the Jayhawks, averaging just 15.7 minutes, 6.1 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game while shooting a career-low 38.4% from the floor and 29% from 3. His struggles coincided with a down year from the team. After entering the season ranked No. 1 in the AP Poll, it went just 21-13 (11-9 Big 12) and lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Storr had some strong performances to close the campaign, including 19 points against UCF in the Big 12 Tournament and 15 against Arkansas in the NCAA Tournament. But the guard's season was largely defined by an 18-game stretch from Jan. 8 to March 8 during which he surpassed double-digit points only once. Assuming Storr doesn't transfer back to Wisconsin or St. John's, his first collegiate stop, next year will mark four teams in as many seasons for the former four-star recruit. Storr was Wisconsin's key transfer addition entering the 2023-24 season. Starting at guard for a team that had missed the NCAA Tournament in 2022-23, he averaged 16.8 points (team-high) and 3.9 rebounds in 28.8 minutes of action per game. His play on the offensive was a key reason for the Badgers' 16-4 (8-1 Big Ten) start. However, the team would go on to lose seven of its last nine to close the regular season and fall in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Storr and star point guard Chucky Hepburn each transferred out following that final defeat. Wisconsin replaced their minutes and production with transfer wing John Tonje and an increased role for ascending guard John Blackwell. The two led the Badgers to a resurgent 2024-25 season -- a 27-10 overall record, NCAA Tournament No. 3-seed and No. 12 finish in KenPom. Storr, as noted, did not experience similar success after withdrawing his name from the NBA draft and joining the Jayhawks last offseason. Instead of again testing the NBA draft waters, the veteran guard appears set for a final collegiate season.
