An imposter dressed as Deadmau5 disrupted Toronto's Veld Music Festival, ending up naked during a security confrontation.
A bizarre and chaotic moment unfolded at the Veld Music Festival in Toronto when an unidentified man impersonated Canadian electronic music icon Deadmau5 during a live performance. The incident, which took place at Downsview Park, quickly spiralled out of control and left hundreds of attendees shocked, especially when the imposter ended up fully naked during a confrontation with security personnel.
According to eyewitnesses and viral footage circulating online, the individual managed to get on stage while dressed exactly like Deadmau5, real name Joel Thomas Zimmerman, complete with the artist's signature headgear. He reportedly approached the stage mid-performance, creating confusion among fans and staff.
Security quickly intervened, but the situation escalated as the impersonator grew aggressive. 'He was first seen hitting a guard up on the stage," one eyewitness reported. 'And he later ran down, only to be surrounded by more guards."

The video shows a scuffle between the imposter and multiple security guards. As they attempted to restrain him, the man's pants came off in the tussle, exposing him to the crowd. In a matter of seconds, the impersonator was completely naked as stunned concertgoers watched. 'The guards tried to pin him down, and in the process, his pant was also seen coming off in front of hundreds of fans," the footage reveals.
He was eventually subdued and dragged off stage, allowing the event to resume without further disruption. Despite the swift action by security, the incident sparked debate online, with several users questioning the authenticity of the stunt. 'Was this staged?" one user asked on X (formerly Twitter), while others criticised the lack of tighter stage security.
Deadmau5, known for global hits like Ghosts 'n' Stuff and Strobe, did not comment publicly on the matter. Widely recognised for his mau5head helmet and pioneering work in progressive house and electro, the DJ has received multiple Grammy nominations and founded the influential record label Mau5trap.
The imposter's identity remains unknown, and no official statement has been released by festival organisers at the time of writing.
