South Africa: FlySafair launches Lindi, a new AI travel assistant
FlySafair has become the first airline in South Africa to launch a free AI-powered travel assistant. Named Lindi, the AI interface aims to simplify travel bookings and customer service by offering 24/7 support via WhatsApp. Currently in its Beta phase, Lindi can book flights for single passengers, change a name or seat on a booking, and provide travel information, making it one of the country's most advanced AI tools in the airline industry. Transforming customer experience through AI 'Our ambition at FlySafair has always been to provide an affordable, hassle-free, and punctual flying experience,' says Kirby Gordon, chief marketing officer at FlySafair. "AI and Lindi provide an opportunity to offer what is effectively a free private travel assistant to each customer at scale. We are excited about building on her potential to enhance our customer service." Gordon adds that customer feedback since the launch has been overwhelmingly positive. "The interactions are not only very natural, but she helps people get things done." Lindi was developed by Stubber, a tech company headquartered in South Africa that specialises in AI solutions. 'We are thrilled to collaborate with FlySafair and apply our advanced AI technologies to create an unparalleled travel experience,' said Guy Duncan, managing director of Stubber. 'Lindi is a testament to the potential of AI in delivering exceptional customer service and next-level Business Process Automation.' AI in aviation: Setting new standards The launch of Lindi aligns with a global trend of integrating AI assistants in various industries, from healthcare to retail. "There are a number of AI assistants that have been created by airlines to help with general information about flying and destinations, but Lindi is the first that can assist customers with their bookings,' says Gordon. "As AI is increasingly integrated into our everyday life, we felt it was a good time to bring this innovative technology to our customers and enable them to benefit from AI practically. Lindi offers a seamless, efficient and human-like service that I am confident will set a new standard in the airline industry." How to use Lindi Customers can access Lindi through FlySafair's WhatsApp platform at any time. However, new bookings are currently limited to single passengers only, excluding business class, infant, group, and travel agent bookings.

Tributes flow as Railways' player-coach Bodhi Stubber celebrates 200th game in Great Southern Football League
He was given a guard of honour at the start of the match and chaired off as the sunshine ebbed away at the end, the applause ringing throughout to recognise Bodhi Stubber as the life and soul of the Railways Football Club. The fearless defender and dual premiership captain received worthy recognition after playing his 200th league game for the Tigers on Saturday. The 30-year-old made his league debut at the age of 15, has won three GSFL premierships and is a three-time George Stephens medallist at his club and in 2023 was a joint runner-up in the Kleemann Medal. His milestone game against the Royals at the Keep the Sheep Stadium, was a fitting tribute to the player-coach, almost an exhibition match in fact, as he was able to indulge his considerable skills with a dominant display that finished with six goals. A modest man, he spent three quarters of the game setting up his teammates before taking the fourth quarter by the scruff of the neck and cutting loose himself. He converted four goals with perfect strikes in that period, boot connecting with ball as though launching a Burley from 50m through a 6.4m gap was the easiest thing in the world. He seemed embarrassed by the fuss, but he appreciated reaching the milestone in this most brutal of sports. 'It's great to have been able to play 200 games with such a great club,' he said. 'I'm not great on personal milestones but it is nice to sit alongside some of the old timers who have done it.' His highlights did not come from individual honours. 'Oh, I just love training, the mateship, premierships, the trips — everything which is great about country football,' he said. 'I came through the juniors and have just loved it ever since. 'I think it's my job now to pass that experience and that enjoyment through to the next generation. 'That is the most important thing; you have to enjoy it, or there's no point.' He is equally passionate about his coaching role, even though he has no intention of hanging up his playing boots. 'I'm going to hang around for a bit yet,' he promised. Craig Bevan knows him well, as a clubmate, father-in-law and employee at Albany's Aqua Ice business. He said Stubber was someone who leads by example. 'He's a hard man, a dedicated man and I think that hard work and dedication is rubbing off on the other players,' he said. 'He sets an example and when the others see how hard he goes, they want to follow his example and not let him down.' Royals' coach Darrell Panizza was also keen to pay tribute, rather than dwell on his side's 119-point drubbing. 'Congratulations to Stubber, he had a really good match,' he said. 'He has been an ornament to the game and to the Great Southern Football League.'

GSFL 2025: Clinical Railways wallop Royals as seven-goal Parker tries to steal the show on Stubber's big day
It was clearly Bodhi Stubber's day, but Hayden Parker did his best to steal the show with a seven-goal haul as Railways thumped Royals in the Great Southern Football League on Saturday. The Keep the Sheep Stadium was bathed in sunshine for Stubber's 200th league appearance as the Tigers maintained their unbeaten run, registering their seventh win on the trot 25.9 (159) to 6.4 (40). There was a brief spell at the end of the first quarter where the Lions pressed and should have scored more than the single behind they registered. And for three quarters they hassled and harried as best they could, but were no match for the Tigers as Parker ran riot and player-coach Stubber, who booted six, was a giant among men. The double act wearing the scoring boots were ably supported by Lachie Cale, Ryley Valli and Jayden Scott as the Tigers rampaged through the middle and up the wings, kicking goals at will. Jayson Ford kicked four for Royals, and celebrated each one magnificently, but elsewhere the cupboard was pretty bare and in the final stanza they were completely overrun. While Stubber enjoyed the victory, he suggested his side had not been at their best throughout. 'It was really good to get the win, but we didn't play our game style in the first half,' he said. 'We train really hard, we have a game plan and putting it in place is the aim. 'It came together more in the third quarter and it's really important that we can maintain that level.' Lions coach Darrell Panizza knew his side had come up against the best. 'They are the best team in the league and are favourites for the flag,' he said. 'We had a lot of players out, but we have a lot of work to do. 'We are still in the top four and we have to make sure it stays that way.' While the prolific Parker was a thorn in the Lions' side, Panizza felt Mitch Lenegan had done a decent job, shutting him down for long periods. 'He had moments where he scored three and then didn't do much, then scored three and was quiet again,' Panizza said. Parker nabbed the Tigers' first before Cleve Humphries replied from a set shot. However, that was as close as it got as Parker converted again and Stubber booted his first, finishing off a Tigers move which sliced the Lions right through the middle. Ford's first goal brought the Lions within eight points but by quarter time Scott's first had put the home side 13 points ahead. Parker struck again 33 seconds after the centre bounce at the start of the second quarter, Mohit Jaggi got on the scoresheet soon after and then Beau Ewen busted his way through two pairs of flailing Lions arms and slotted the Tigers' seventh major. Further goals from Parker, Valli and Bailin Curtis were interrupted by Ford's third but as the half-time hooter sounded the rampaging Tigers were 50 points ahead and looking unbeatable. The third quarter really hurt the Lions who were outscored by eight majors to two. Ford's fourth might have been the pick coming after he broke free, bounced three times and finished with a flourish but Parker's three goals extended the Tigers buffer to 87 points. The final stanza was all about Stubber whose four majors were a lesson in accurate goal-kicking in front of a big home crowd. Humphries may have had the final word with his major from the right pocket, but it was the Tigers who stayed on track for the flag and gave Stubber an afternoon to remember. Midfield trio Scott, Valli and Cale were all driving factors in the result while Stubber and Lorcan McNamara were also influential. The Lions were best served by Ford, Declan McNamara, Nathan Powell and Cameron Lazar.
