Is Lookism season 2 happening? Everything we know so far
By Aman Shukla Published on May 5, 2025, 18:30 IST Last updated May 5, 2025, 11:59 IST The South Korean anime Lookism , adapted from Park Tae-joon's popular webtoon, took the streaming world by storm when its first season debuted on Netflix on December 8, 2022. With its unique blend of social commentary, supernatural elements, and compelling character arcs, the series left fans eagerly awaiting news of a second season. But is Lookism Season 2 happening? Here's everything we know so far about the potential continuation of this gripping anime. What Is Lookism About? Lookism follows Park Hyung-seok (Daniel Park), a high school student who faces relentless bullying due to his overweight appearance. After a supernatural twist, he gains the ability to switch between two bodies: his original self and a tall, handsome version. This dual life allows him to experience both the harsh discrimination faced by his original body and the privileges of his attractive one. The anime, produced by Studio Mir, explores themes of bullying, societal beauty standards, and self-acceptance, resonating with audiences worldwide. The first season, consisting of eight episodes, covered the initial 27 chapters of the webtoon, which has over 500 chapters and counting. With such a vast source material, fans are hopeful for more seasons to dive deeper into Daniel's journey. Is Lookism Season 2 Confirmed? As of May 5, 2025, neither Netflix nor Studio Mir has officially confirmed Lookism Season 2. Despite the anime's popularity and the webtoon's extensive source material, no renewal announcement has been made. Lookism Season 2 Release Date Speculation If Netflix greenlights Season 2 in 2025, production timelines suggest a possible release in late 2026 or early 2027, assuming an eight-episode season similar to the first. Where to Watch Lookism The first season of Lookism is available on Netflix, with all eight episodes streaming globally. Aman Shukla is a post-graduate in mass communication . From controller to screen: 5 TV shows adapted from video games to watch
The Last of Us Above The trailer for season two of 'The Last of Us' A true-to-source reimagination of the two games, The Last of Us accurately follows the storyline from start to finish—albeit with a few creative liberties. The chemistry between lead actors Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey during their whimsical moments and serious, life-threatening experience make for a great watch that affirms and immerses previous players of the games while introducing those who came in blind with a heartfelt (and heartracing) story. As the show's second season runs with new episodes weekly, it's exciting to see how they approach some of the pivotal points in Ellie's quest for revenge. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Above The official trailer for 'Cyberpunk: Edgerunners' From the animation studio that brought fan favourite anime such as Kill La Kill and Star Wars: Visions , Cyberpunk: Edgerunners takes viewers to Night City—a dystopia plagued by crime, corruption, and cybernetic addiction. The show takes place around a year before the events of the mainline video game, Cyberpunk 2077, and follows David Martinez as he tries to survive as a mercenary. See also: How 'Black Mirror' Season 7 questions your reality, then breaks your heart The Cuphead Show! Above The trailer for 'The Cuphead Show!' A slapstick comedy harbouring a 1930s art style, The Cuphead Show! follows the misadventures of two brothers, Cuphead and Mugman. Throughout the series, fans of the game will be able to spot multiple villains from the source material, making for fun easter egg hunts and moments of hilarity as more context is given to each character. While the game uses traditional hand-drawn cel animation, the TV series, unfortunately, does not due to streaming deadlines. However, the animation quality is still one of the best in the genre, making for a wacky experience that stays true to the plot's atmosphere. Devil May Cry Above The trailer for 'Devil May Cry' (2025) anime Animated by South Korean studio Studio Mir, which brought the likes of The Legend of Korra and The Boondocks to television, the 2025 Devil May Cry anime is an adaptation of the mainline games. The show follows legendary demon hunter-for-hire, Dante, as he fights a powerful demon invading Earth. With over-the-top action sequences worthy of the character, it's a fun watch if you want to see good animation quality. However, longtime fans may notice several inconsistencies with the story—oftentimes breaking established events in favour of a new narrative. The Devil May Cry Netflix series has a real trailer, and now Papa Roach is stuck in my head
There are many reasons Devil May Cry fans will enjoy the upcoming show adaptation's new trailer. But, I must warn you, after watching it Papa Roach's "Last Resort" will be stuck in your head for days. The early 2000s song plays alongside a two-minute trailer that showcases Dante and, notably, his twin brother Vergil. There are many great takeaways from this peek at the show, but one of the most amusing might be when Lady rips of Dante's shirt and he responds, "Ripped and irresistible dream boat, I know. You still can't just tear a guy's clothes off." It's that kind of lighthearted banter mixed with the action sequences that make us so excited for the Devil May Cry series. A television series version of Capcom's Devil May Cry game has been in the works for years now. We first got a teaser back in 2023, but we only learned in January that it will premiere on Netflix on April 3. The animated series from Korean company Studio Mir is actually Devil May Cry's second go as a show — in 2007, a 12-episode anime based on the game ran in Japan. Not familiar with the video game? Here's Netflix's synopsis for the Devil May Cry TV show: "Sinister forces are at play at the portal between the human and demon realms. In the middle of it all is Dante, an orphaned demon hunter for hire, unaware that the fate of both worlds hangs around his neck."
