Long Island man whose nose was bitten off sees incredible transformation thanks to 3D-printed replica

A Long Island man is sharing his incredible transformation after his nose was bitten off in a fight. He says he was coming to the rescue of a stranger when the unthinkable happened. "He just bit my nose off" Tyson Carter says he was at a Brentwood bus stop back in January when he witnessed a young woman being badgered by two men trying to lure her into a car. "After a few minutes, I finally just piped up and was like, 'You know, you're making her feel uncomfortable,'" Carter said. A fight erupted. "He was like on top of me, and at some point, he just ... bit my nose off," Carter said. "My heart just dropped," mother June Carter said. His mother feared he could not recover with three-quarters of his nose gone. "Just because someone spoke up, that was way beyond horrible, horrific what they did to my son," she said. Suffolk County Police say all three people involved in the dispute declined to press charges and did not cooperate with the police investigation. "He's like the Michael Jordan of reconstruction" Months later, Tyson Carter has seen life-changing results thanks to an old technique perfected with modern technology by surgeons at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. "The idea is to take the piece of skin from the forehead and flip it to the nose," Dr. Laurent Ganry said. Then, a 3D printer recreated the nose with clay to provide a template for refining the skin in surgeries three weeks apart. Tyson Carter's rebuilt nose is nearly an exact replica. A Long Island man is sharing his incredible transformation after his nose was bitten off in a fight. CBS News New York "It's not an incredible case for what we do every day, but the results is quite, quite incredible," Ganry said. "He's like the Michael Jordan of reconstruction," Tyson Carter said. "People who haven't seen me for a while ... they really can't tell." "I am amazed at how well his nose looks and how some of the scarring has faded," June Carter said. Now able to wear glasses again, Tyson Carter faces one last surgery to help him breathe, but he says what matters most is breathing easier about the woman he stood up for. "The important thing is she's safe," he said. Tyson Carter hasn't been able to work between all the surgeries, but when he does return, he won't be returning to the bus stop. His mother says she will drive him wherever he needs to go.

LI cops probing whether corpse found in backyard pool is that of fugitive murder suspect who fatally stabbed father months earlier

A Long Island homeowner's summer kick-off took a horrifying turn Sunday evening after lifting the pool cover in their East Shoreham backyard — discovering a body that police are reportedly investigating as possibly being fugitive murder suspect Matthew Zoll. Sources said Suffolk County police are now looking to confirm the body as the suspected 23-year-old killer and investigate the cause of death, according to Newsday. Officials wouldn't confirm whether this is their leading theory, but said the Homicide Squad is actively investigating and that the Medical Examiner's office is performing an autopsy to determine the cause of death and confirm the victim's identity. 'We can't speculate any specific identity,' Suffolk cops told The Post. Zoll, who is reportedly schizophrenic, is the main suspect of a November murder where he allegedly stabbed his 61-year-old dad, postal worker Joseph Zoll, to death inside their home in Rocky Point. He then frantically fled the home, crashing his car on the William Floyd Parkway about 10 minutes after the alleged killing — leaving the totaled car and escaping on foot. US Marshals spent several days scouring the wooded areas off the parkway, including the 1,600-acre Brookhaven State Park, in an intense search for Zoll following the deadly crash — but ultimately came up short. The backyard where the body was found borders a wooded lot that runs behind four homes and leads straight to William Floyd Parkway. Sources claim cops now believe Zoll may have traveled about a half-a-mile to the backyard, where he could've tried hiding underneath the winter pool cover before dying of various causes including drowning, hypothermia, suffocation, and more, Newsday said.

Long Island homeowner finds body in backyard swimming pool

A Long Island homeowner found a body in his backyard swimming pool as he was opening it for the season Sunday afternoon. The East Shoreham man rolled back the cover and made the shocking discovery. Suffolk County Police are investigating and say an autopsy is needed to determine the identity of the victim and cause of death. Neighbors are trying to make sense of it. "It's just so disturbing. You take your pool cover off and... I mean, what if there was young children around or the poor family?" neighbor Sharon Healey said. "I don't know why somebody would try to get under the cover, you know? I mean, it just is not a smart thing to do," neighbor Peter Gawrelek said. Investigators are working to determine if there's a connection to another mystery that led to a manhunt last fall in the same neighborhood. Matthew Zoll, 23, was wanted in connection to the stabbing death of his father, Joseph Zoll, in nearby Rocky Point. Police searched the area for weeks, but Matthew Zoll was never found.

Sport fishing boat violently crashes into Meschutt Beach jetty, injuring four

FIRST ON FOX: A video of a large sport fishing boat shows what appears to be the aftermath of a violent crash into a jetty in Meschutt Beach. The accident occurred at approximately 9:16 p.m. when eyewitnesses say a vessel hit the jetty so hard that it spun 180 degrees before running aground. The operator apparently steered the craft from the Great Peconic Bay towards the Shinnecock Canal. Four passengers reportedly suffered injuries and one of whom, an adult female, was flown from the scene to Stony Brook Hospital by the Suffolk County Police Department. Two other juveniles were transported by ambulance and the fourth, an adult male, was taken to a local hospital. A video of the aftermath of the accident shows what appears to be an adult male being questioned and possibly detained, as country music plays loudly in the background and the windshield wipers swish back and forth. Hampton Bays FD, Southampton Town PD, the US Coast Guard, and NYS Police were all on scene. This is an ongoing investigation. Fox News Digital has reached out to the Hampton Bays Fire Department, but they have not immediately responded.
