Outside Lands breakout star LaRussell to join E-40 for rare Vallejo show
Fresh off his breakout set at Outside Lands in San Francisco, Vallejo rapper LaRussell is slated to perform alongside Bay Area legends E-40, Con Funk Shun and Baby Bash at the fifth annual Mare Island Dock of Bay Festival.
The waterfront concert, set for Sept. 6, will bring together three generations of Vallejo talent for the daylong event.
'This historic gathering of Vallejo artists, featuring E-40, LaRussell, Baby Bash, and Con Funk Shun will also include a special tribute to Sly and the Family Stone and invites have been made to other local superstars,' added Kevin Frazier, the festival's producer, in a statement.
Bay Area rapper shakes off nerves, electrifies Outside Lands' biggest stage
The outdoor festival boasts the rare hometown headlining appearance by rapper E-40, an entrepreneur whose career has helped shape West Coast hip-hop for more than two decades.
LaRussell, whose independent rise has drawn national attention — and whose track 'Nothin Like It' became the San Francisco Giants' anthem this year — represents Vallejo's next wave.
Baby Bash, known for hits including 'Suga Suga' and 'Cyclone,' and funk pioneers Con Funk Shun, celebrated for classics such as 'Love's Train' and 'Ffun,' round out the marquee acts.
The festival will also highlight emerging acts August Lee Stevens, Malachi and Tyler Lauren.
Attendees can expect a wide selection of food, regional wines, craft brews and views of historic ships along the Napa River.
Organizers expect the 5,000-capacity event to sell out.
General admission tickets are $105, with premium VIP packages at $265. Presale tickets, priced at $80, are available until June 16.
