Scarlett Johansson's ‘SNL' Season 50 finale abruptly ends — leaving viewers wondering who's saying goodbye

Goodbye from New York? The 'Saturday Night Live' Season 50 finale came to an abrupt end on May 17, leaving audiences speculating who from the cast may be leaving the show for good. Host Scarlett Johansson closed out the show with a traditional goodbye alongside the rest of the cast. However, the NBC variety show then quickly cut to a commercial for 'Suits L.A.' The program ended at 1:02 a.m., two minutes past the normal ending time on the East Coast. 5 Scarlett Johansson's 'SNL' finale came to an abrupt end Saturday night. @nbcsnl/X 5 Fans were left wondering who in the cast could be leaving the show for good. @nbcsnl/X The snafu led to audiences speculating who from the cast is leaving the show for good. After all, many stars tend to exit Studio 8H for the last time following a series finale. 'Lorne Michaels, wherever you are,' Johansson said onstage. 'You're not gonna want me to single you out, but congratulations. You are a singular man.' Bowen Yang, for his part, emotionally hugged castmate Sarah Sherman during the closing. 'If Bowen is leaving I won't be shocked,' one viewer wrote on X, formerly Twitter. Another person wrote: 'It looked like Bowen was having long heartfelt hugs with everyone so he's my only guess to be leaving. Would explain some of the sketches they did for him [tonight].' 5 Bowen Yang previously fueled 'SNL' exit rumors in a People article. @nbcsnl/X In April, Yang blatantly told People that he would leave the show 'at some point.' 'SNL, it's just this moving, living, breathing thing,' he said. 'Especially after the 50th, I'm seeing what life after the show is like and how beautiful it is, and how so many people, no matter how long they were at the show, are just with their families and loving their lives and not letting the years take away any of that experience for them.' Mikey Day and Heidi Gardner also appeared sentimental and gave multiple hugs to the cast and crew. It's still unclear if Johansson's latest hosting gig was husband Colin Jost and Michael Che's last time behind the 'Weekend Update' desk, too. Fans have speculated that the pair will take the monumental 50th season as the opportunity to officially retire. In February, Che even proclaimed 'I'm not coming back, don't worry,' during a stand-up show at the University of Rochester. In one notable moment, the 'Jurassic Park Rebirth' actress, 40, joined Che, 41, and Jost, 42, for their 'Weekend Update' segment during the NBC variety show. 'Before I tell another joke, I wanna take this opportunity to apologize to someone I hurt, Scarlett, can you come out here?' Che asked. 'Y'know, last time we did joke-swap, I made Colin do some tasteless jokes comparing your vagina to Costco roast beef.' 'The fact is I was just lashing out because I'm jealous,' he joked. 'I've never even seen a human vagina. And notice I said 'human,' because I once spent the summer on a farm. You feel me?' 5 Johansson made history after hosting the show for the seventh time. NBC / SNL Che then went in for a high-five, which Johansson declined. 'And, Colin, I'm sorry too. Because I owe you everything,' Jost forced Che to say. 'When Colin discovered me, I was selling crack outside the Bronx Zoo. And now look at me, selling crack outside the American Girl doll store.' In Dec. 2024, Johansson made a cameo backstage while Che and Jost did their annual joke swap. The actress was given a heads up that Che would make a jab about her, but she didn't know how vulgar it really would be. 5 The actress got revenge on Weekend Update host Michael Che for his previous jokes about her. NBC / SNL At the time, Che made Jost read off the teleprompter: 'Costco has removed the roast beef sandwich from its menu. But I ain't trippin'. I've been eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid.' Jost and Johansson, who married in 2020, are parents of son Cosmo, 3. She also shares daughter Rose, 10, with ex-husband Romain Dauriac. 'I feel like it's almost my responsibility to come up with some way to burn Michael back,' Johansson told Vanity Fair in a profile just days earlier. 'Retaliation, I'd say, should be expected. Others on the show could support this desire. Know what I mean?' In March, she told InStyle: 'I just can't believe that they went there. I was like — it was so gross. It was really gross,' she went on. 'And, like, old-school gross.' Johansson's episode also featured Mike Myers and Bad Bunny as the musical guest. Johansson made history on Saturday night, hosting the show for the seventh time. This made her the female star to have hosted 'SNL' the most times, beating out Tina Fey and Drew Barrymore. She previously hosted in January 2006, April 2007, November 2010, May 2015, March 2017 and December 2019. She's made cameos throughout the historic show, including doing multiple sketches for its three-hour 50th anniversary special, which aired on Feb. 16. Alec Baldwin, meanwhile, leads the most times for a male star hosting with a whopping 17 episodes.

Royal News Roundup: Kate Middleton Drops Surprise Videos, Prince Harry Issues Rare Statement & More

Kate Middleton shared two emotional new videos about an important cause and the healing power of nature. In those videos, she rocked two millennial trends that seem to be making a comeback. The Princess of Wales's brother, James Middleton's, turned another year older this week. Middleton, Prince William and their family are reportedly ditching their typical Easter plans this year for something more low-key. Prince William's body language while watching a soccer game was unlike anything we've seen before. Prince George tagged along for the game and the father-son duo had very similar reactions while watching. William and George were joined by another royal couple, Olivia and Hugh Grosvenor, for the big game. A new photo of King Charles and Queen Camilla revealed major insight into their marriage. The pair's body language during a recent trip to Italy also shed light on how happy they are together. King Charles shared a timely and emotional message ahead of the Easter holiday. Queen Camilla recently wore a stunning brooch with a hefty $10 million price tag and sweet tie to Princess Diana. Camilla also made a surprising remark about her marriage to King Charles when asked about his work amid his cancer treatment. Duchess Sophie helped make history as she filled in for King Charles at the Sovereign's Parade at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. She wore a stunning monochromic look for the event which had a striking similarity to one Kate Middleton previously wore. Sophie's outfit while visiting the Yellow Labrador Club also channeled a Kate Middleton staple. Max Mumby/Indigo/Getty Images Prince Harry made a surprise visit to Ukraine for a very special cause. He also made a rare comment about wife Meghan Markle's latest business ventures. Markle shared a sweet video featuring a super rare peek at their daughter Princess Lilibet's red hair. Princess Eugenie attended Art Basel in Hong Kong wearing a gorgeous dress with a sky-high split. Want all the latest entertainment news sent right to your inbox? Click here. 'Suits L.A.' 'Suits' star Gabriel Macht has 'little interest' in return to Hollywood after leaving US for secret location

Returning to Hollywood wasn't initially part of "Suits" star Gabriel Macht's plans after he moved out of the United States to a secret location. Macht, who will reprise his role as Harvey Specter in three episodes of "Suits L.A," shared the reason he decided to join the spinoff. "I'm just doing it for the fans. I'm not doing it for me. I've done it 134 times. I'm not doing it for me," he told People. "I had very little interest in coming back to work as an actor right now because I spent so much time [doing it]. … This was my time to really raise my kids and to do this creative stuff like Bear Fight," Macht said, referring to his whiskey brand. Macht made an agreement with "Suits" creator Aaron Korsh to make an appearance that worked for his brood. "I had very little interest in coming back to work as an actor right now." He made sure there was "a way to do this where it made sense for my family, it made sense for the timing and if there was a way that I could sort of pass the baton to Stephen [Amell] and the cast in LA." "If I [could have] anything to do with helping support the show and getting it off [the ground], it's almost like [giving] a blessing," Macht suggested. The "Suits" actor revealed he hasn't filmed yet but plans to travel "to shoot in a couple of weeks." "I've read some scripts, and I see what it is. … I understand now how the character of Ted and Harvey connect. … I'm looking forward to seeing the dynamic between the two," he added, referring to Amell's character, Ted Black. Macht starred in "Suits" for nine seasons, from 2011 to 2019. His comments come after he recently shared that he and his family moved out of the United States, but he kept the location of his new home a secret. "I am based somewhere in Europe, but I don't tell anybody where I live because I like to keep that under wraps," he previously told People. "I got out of town, and we're exploring the world." The actor explained that, before COVID, he and his wife, Jacinda Barrett, wanted to take their kids "out of school and homeschool them." However, when they found themselves "stuck" in Manhattan during the pandemic, he said, "that just wasn't doing it for us." After realizing they didn't want to stay in New York, Macht said, "We decided to explore the world, so we left." Macht and Barrett first met in 2000 when they were set up on a blind date. The two tied the knot in a private ceremony in 2004, later welcoming two children — daughter Satine, 17, and son Luca, 10. The cast of "Suits," including Macht, Patrick J. Adams, Sarah Rafferty and Gina Torres, had a reunion on stage at the Golden Globes in 2024, when they announced the winner of the best television drama category. Noticeably absent from the reunion was Meghan Markle, who starred on the show until its eighth season and left when she got engaged to Prince Harry.

'Suits' him: Gabriel Macht to shift base from US?

Dubai: Suits star Gabriel Macht may convincingly portray an audacious, suave lawyer on screen, but off it, he seems to be just a down-to-earth guy who wants to kick back and enjoy family life. Macht, who will reprise his popular role of Harvey Spector in a spinoff, S uits L.A. , soon, has moved out of the United States with his family, as per a report in People , but is refusing to disclose his whereabouts. He told the publication, 'I don't tell anybody where I live because I like to keep that under wraps. I got out of town and we're exploring the world.' Macht, who grew up in Los Angeles and lived in New York for several years, is married to Australian-American actress Jacinda Barrett and they have two children, daughter Satine and son Luca.
