Scarlett Johansson's ‘SNL' Season 50 finale abruptly ends — leaving viewers wondering who's saying goodbye

New York Post18-05-2025
Goodbye from New York?
The 'Saturday Night Live' Season 50 finale came to an abrupt end on May 17, leaving audiences speculating who from the cast may be leaving the show for good.
Host Scarlett Johansson closed out the show with a traditional goodbye alongside the rest of the cast. However, the NBC variety show then quickly cut to a commercial for 'Suits L.A.' The program ended at 1:02 a.m., two minutes past the normal ending time on the East Coast.

The snafu led to audiences speculating who from the cast is leaving the show for good. After all, many stars tend to exit Studio 8H for the last time following a series finale.
'Lorne Michaels, wherever you are,' Johansson said onstage. 'You're not gonna want me to single you out, but congratulations. You are a singular man.'
Bowen Yang, for his part, emotionally hugged castmate Sarah Sherman during the closing. 'If Bowen is leaving I won't be shocked,' one viewer wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Another person wrote: 'It looked like Bowen was having long heartfelt hugs with everyone so he's my only guess to be leaving. Would explain some of the sketches they did for him [tonight].'
5 Bowen Yang previously fueled 'SNL' exit rumors in a People article.

In April, Yang blatantly told People that he would leave the show 'at some point.'
'SNL, it's just this moving, living, breathing thing,' he said. 'Especially after the 50th, I'm seeing what life after the show is like and how beautiful it is, and how so many people, no matter how long they were at the show, are just with their families and loving their lives and not letting the years take away any of that experience for them.'
Mikey Day and Heidi Gardner also appeared sentimental and gave multiple hugs to the cast and crew.
It's still unclear if Johansson's latest hosting gig was husband Colin Jost and Michael Che's last time behind the 'Weekend Update' desk, too. Fans have speculated that the pair will take the monumental 50th season as the opportunity to officially retire.
In February, Che even proclaimed 'I'm not coming back, don't worry,' during a stand-up show at the University of Rochester.
In one notable moment, the 'Jurassic Park Rebirth' actress, 40, joined Che, 41, and Jost, 42, for their 'Weekend Update' segment during the NBC variety show.
'Before I tell another joke, I wanna take this opportunity to apologize to someone I hurt, Scarlett, can you come out here?' Che asked. 'Y'know, last time we did joke-swap, I made Colin do some tasteless jokes comparing your vagina to Costco roast beef.'
'The fact is I was just lashing out because I'm jealous,' he joked. 'I've never even seen a human vagina. And notice I said 'human,' because I once spent the summer on a farm. You feel me?'
5 Johansson made history after hosting the show for the seventh time.

Che then went in for a high-five, which Johansson declined.
'And, Colin, I'm sorry too. Because I owe you everything,' Jost forced Che to say. 'When Colin discovered me, I was selling crack outside the Bronx Zoo. And now look at me, selling crack outside the American Girl doll store.'
In Dec. 2024, Johansson made a cameo backstage while Che and Jost did their annual joke swap. The actress was given a heads up that Che would make a jab about her, but she didn't know how vulgar it really would be.
5 The actress got revenge on Weekend Update host Michael Che for his previous jokes about her.
NBC / SNL
At the time, Che made Jost read off the teleprompter: 'Costco has removed the roast beef sandwich from its menu. But I ain't trippin'. I've been eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid.'
Jost and Johansson, who married in 2020, are parents of son Cosmo, 3. She also shares daughter Rose, 10, with ex-husband Romain Dauriac.
'I feel like it's almost my responsibility to come up with some way to burn Michael back,' Johansson told Vanity Fair in a profile just days earlier. 'Retaliation, I'd say, should be expected. Others on the show could support this desire. Know what I mean?'
In March, she told InStyle: 'I just can't believe that they went there. I was like — it was so gross. It was really gross,' she went on. 'And, like, old-school gross.'
Johansson's episode also featured Mike Myers and Bad Bunny as the musical guest.
Johansson made history on Saturday night, hosting the show for the seventh time. This made her the female star to have hosted 'SNL' the most times, beating out Tina Fey and Drew Barrymore.
She previously hosted in January 2006, April 2007, November 2010, May 2015, March 2017 and December 2019. She's made cameos throughout the historic show, including doing multiple sketches for its three-hour 50th anniversary special, which aired on Feb. 16.
Alec Baldwin, meanwhile, leads the most times for a male star hosting with a whopping 17 episodes.

Party on, Jon Jamón: Jon Hamm spotted at Bad Bunny concert in Puerto Rico

When Jon Hamm touches down in PR, he's far from a "Turista." The Emmy-winning actor, who's made it no secret that he's a Bad Bunny superfan, was spotted attending the reggaeton superstar's concert residency in Puerto Rico over the weekend. Bad Bunny kicked off the hotly anticipated string of shows, titled No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí, on July 11 at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico, the island's largest indoor arena. Hamm, also known by his fan alias "Jon Jamón," was seen dancing to the Grammy-winning singer's energetic set throughout the concert. The "Mad Men" alum, 54, also channeled the tropical inspiration of the Puerto Rican landscape with his show attire, which included a short-sleeved, island-style shirt with matching bottoms and a bucket hat. As seen in concert footage, Hamm had one of the best seats in the house. The actor was spotted in Bad Bunny's "La Casita," a VIP section modeled after a traditional Puerto Rican home. Hamm waved and blew kisses to nearby fans, and he gyrated to the music as Bad Bunny made his way through the crowd. Hamm isn't the only celebrity who's partied it up at Bad Bunny's casita. Actor Austin Butler, who went viral for his dance moves at the singer's residency, raved about the concert experience during an Aug. 12 interview on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon." "I'm just like, so proud of him," Butler recalled. "I'm watching him going, 'Oh my God, look how much you mean to everyone here.' I'm like, falling in love with Puerto Rican culture and the dancing, and everybody is so sexy and amazing." Bad Bunny is expected to continue his residency performances every weekend through Sept. 14, followed by a world tour that commences in November. 'My brain is in two movies': Austin Butler recalls trippy Bad Bunny concert after taking edible Jon Hamm explains his love for Bad Bunny During an April 10 appearance on the "Today" show, Hamm opened up about his love of Bad Bunny's work. "You can't listen to his music and not smile," Hamm told host Savannah Guthrie. "I just love his story. He's a really nice guy. He's funny. He's an 'SNL' guy, too. They love him over there." Hamm and Bad Bunny performed together for the 50th anniversary special of "Saturday Night Live," during which Hamm received the nickname "Jon Jamón" from "SNL" alum Amy Poehler as a play on his surname (Jamón translates to "ham" in Spanish). Bad Bunny setlist: All the songs on his No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí residency Hamm also shared his excitement about his plans to attend the No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí residency, praising Bad Bunny for staying true to his Puerto Rican roots. "It's really cool that he's going back to his home, to really kind of give back to the fans," Hamm said. "He's reserving the first four, five or 10 shows, or whatever it is, for only residents of Puerto Rico, which is so cool."

Paris Hilton Kids Show Features Real-Life Pets and Original Song

Good news for fans of kids' TV shows. Paris Hilton is set to release a new animated series about a girl called Paris and her puppies, aptly titled Paris & Pups. The trailer was released today, and it's exactly what you'd expect. Check it out below. Paris & Pups drops on YouTube in September, from Paris Hilton It's safe to assume that it's no rags to riches story. The show follows the adventures of Paris Star, a 12-year-old girl who lives in the penthouse of the 'The Fabuluxe Hotel' with her five canine friends. Unsurprisingly, it draws its inspiration from Paris' own life. But as they say, stick to what you know. Indeed, Paris' own net worth is estimated to be around $300 million. The Hilton family (including mom Kathy Hilton) are worth over $14 billion dollars. 'I'm beyond excited to finally share Paris & Pups with the world. The series is set in a glamorous hotel full of sparkle, adventure and heart — a place that feels like home to me after growing up in hotels and making them my playground,' said Paris (via People), who also recorded the show's theme song. Paris and Pups is being produced by Paris' own media company, 11:11 Media, in partnership with 9 Story Media Group and HappyNest Entertainment. A cutesy kids' show seems like a bit of an unlikely move for Paris. Could it be that motherhood has softened the famously hard-edged star? She and husband Carter Reum welcomed two children via surrogacy in 2023. Paris paid tribute to her little ones in an Instagram post earlier this year, saying 'They've shown me a whole new kind of happiness and have taught me more about myself than I ever could have imagined. I feel so lucky to be their mama.' If you want to check the show out (choices!), the first four episodes arrive on YouTube on September 23.
