Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde-led all-party delegation arrives in Sierra Leone
Freetown [Sierra Leone], May 29 (ANI): The group 4 delegation led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde arrived in Sierra Leone, as part of a global outreach programme. The delegation was welcomed by Baisnab Charan Pradhan, the High Commissioner of India to Sierra Leone. In a post on X, India's High Commission in South Africa wrote, 'Pursuing India's renewed commitment to counterterrorism and regional stability, an All-party delegation led by@DrSEShindearrived at Freetown.' Earlier, on Wednesday, an all-party delegation led by Shrikant Shinde halted in Lome [Togo], for transit while en route to Sierra Leone and held discussions on Pakistan-based terrorism and Operation Sindoor. India's former Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sujan Chinoy, stated that the developmental ties and trade between India and Sierra Leone are on the rise. Chinoy further added that there is also scope to enhance the developmental ties between Sierra Leone and India because of the diversity of minerals in the former. 'Relations between India and Sierra Leone are very good. We opened an embassy in Sierra Leone in 2020. But our diplomatic relations go back to 1961 when they achieved independence. Sierra Leone is a very important country; it's currently a non-permanent member of the UNSC. Our trade and other developmental ties are on the rise. We have about roughly 80-100 million US Dollars worth of bilateral trade...' Chinoy told ANI. 'But there is scope to enhance this because Sierra Leone is rich in minerals. We should also encourage our mining countries to take a fresh look at Sierra Leone. We also have a very large number of lines of credit worth roughly USD 250 million that have been extended to Sierra Leone. We also have a very active ITEC program plus ICCR scholarships that are available to people from Sierra Leone for capacity building,' he further added. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs Bansuri Swaraj, Atul Garg, Manan Kumar Mishra, Indian Union Muslim League's ET Mohammed Basheer, Biju Janata Dal's Sasmit Patra, BJP leader SS Ahluwalia, and former Ambassador Sujan Chinoy are also part of the Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde-led delegation. The delegation aims to brief international partners on India's response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and its broader fight against cross-border terrorism while engaging with leaders. The multi-party delegation, consisting of seven groups led by one MP each, has been initiated to counter global misinformation and highlight India's zero-tolerance policy on terrorism. (ANI)

"Delegation successfully communicated India's zero-tolerance policy on terrorism": Sujan Chinoy in Congo
Kinshasa [Congo], May 28 (ANI): India's former Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sujan Chinoy on Wednesday (local time), stated that the delegation successfully conveyed India's zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and received appreciation for the rationale behind India's actions. Chinoy said that Indian officials have engaged with top Congolese leaders to explain India's firm stance against terrorism and the reasons behind Operation Sindoor. Chinoy informed that there was significant understanding and sympathy for India's position, particularly regarding the recent Pahalgam terror attack and India's subsequent response through Operation Sindoor. Speaking to ANI, Chinoy said, 'The delegation has been able to meet the leadership at all levels, from the Speaker to the President of the Senate, to the Head of the Foreign Affairs Commission in their Parliament, as well as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and above all, interact with a very large number of journalists as well. In all these meetings, the delegation has successfully put across India's position of zero tolerance for terrorism and our position concerning Operation Sindoor. I found that there was a great deal of sympathy and deep understanding for the pain that India has gone through in recent weeks, and there was appreciation for the reasons for India undertaking Operation Sindoor...' Meanwhile, BJP leader SS Ahluwalia also stated that the Democratic Republic of the Congo has expressed strong support for India's stance against terrorism and stated that the African nation has extended support to India. 'India has always stood for Congo. We were the first to recognise it as a country. When we were in the UAE, they told us that they were with us, they are with us, and they will be with us. We received a similar response here in Congo. I think they will pass a resolution in the (Congo) parliament and then echo our voice condemning Pakistan at the level of the African Union and the world as well,' Ahluwalia said. Simultaneously, BJP Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Manan Kumar Mishra said that India's diplomatic outreach in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has been effective in conveying its zero-tolerance policy against terrorism. He noted that the campaign has been successful in garnering international support and understanding for India's stance. 'The purpose of these delegations was to give the message of peace, to tell about the policy of zero tolerance against terrorism and also to tell that Pakistan is a terrorist factory... We have been quite successful in our campaign,' Mishra said. Former Ambassador Sujan Chinoy highlights strategic ties and peacekeeping role of India in DR Congo
Kinshasa (Congo), May 26 (ANI): India's former Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sujan Chinoy, highlighted the strategic significance of DR Congo in Africa, underlining the strong bilateral ties shared between the two nations and the role of Indian peacekeepers in the region. Speaking on India's diplomatic engagement with DR Congo, Ambassador Chinoy said, 'The Democratic Republic of the Congo is Africa's second largest country in terms of size after Algeria. It has 120 million people, so it's a very populous country... It has a big voice in this part of the world.' He further noted the country's importance on the continental and global stage. 'It's an important member of the African Union and it is also one of the countries of Africa that could potentially be a future non-permanent member of the UN Security Council,' he said. Reflecting on India's engagement, Chinoy remarked, 'We have excellent relations with the DR Congo. Indian peacekeepers are also present in this country, keeping the peace here in certain parts of this vast country and we therefore need to promote our relations with DR Congo to sensitise them about the global threat of terrorism.' He added, 'It's a wonderful thing to see India speak in a united voice.' Ambassador Chinoy's remark about India speaking with a united voice is directly reflected in the all-party delegation's joint mission in Congo to project India's firm and cohesive stance on terrorism. The delegation, which includes leaders from multiple political parties, embodies this unity in action by collectively conveying India's zero-tolerance policy against terrorism on an international platform. BJP's Rajya Sabha MP Manan Kumar Mishra, a member of the delegation, reinforces this unified message by emphasising the delegation's purpose: to send a strong, clear message globally that India will no longer tolerate terrorism after decades of suffering. His statement underscores the delegation's role as a concrete example of India's coordinated and resolute foreign policy approach that Chinoy highlighted. 'After Pahalgam, we waited for 15 days for Pakistan to take some action against terrorists, but they didn't, and then we targeted their terrorist camps on May 7,' he said.
