i-CompEx Can Be Platform To Attract Interest In New Technologies, Innovations

JITRA, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- The International Innovation and Invention Competition Through Exhibition (i-CompEx) programme, which has been held 13 times, is seen as becoming increasingly 'mature' and has received good participation from domestic and overseas institutions. Deputy Minister of Higher Education Datuk Mustapha Sakmud said the competition and innovation exhibition could serve as a platform to attract public interest, particularly the younger generation, in new technologies and creating innovations. "I was told that the jury had a tough time deciding on the winner this time because it was very competitive, so this means the i-CompEx has matured after 13 editions. "So, it means the quality of participation in the i-CompEx has reached quite a good level compared to when it was introduced,' he told reporters after the i-CompEx 2025 closing ceremony here today. According to him, the participation of students from primary and secondary schools, as well as the various government agencies and departments, could encourage innovations that will benefit society in this country. "So, I feel that this is crucial as a catalyst for ideas and also interests among the people, particularly the younger generation, who we must expose to new technologies from as early as primary school days. "This is to attract their interest to follow fields related to new technologies, such as AI (artificial intelligence), when they get into universities later,' he said. The i-CompEx 2025, jointly organised with the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Polytechnic (POLIMAS) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, involved participants from several foreign countries, including Saudi Arabia, China, the United Kingdom, Thailand and Indonesia. A total of 401 innovation projects from various institutions in Malaysia and overseas took part in the two-day i-CompEx 2025, which ended today.
