Iranian President visit Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque
Muscat: President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian of the Islamic Republic of Iran visited on Wednesday the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque within the framework of his current official to the Sultanate of Oman. Upon their arrival, the Iranian President and his accompanying delegation were received by Habib Mohammed al Riyami, Chairman of the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science. During the visit, the Iranian President and his accompanied delegation were briefed on the mosque's history, and its Omani and Islamic architectural designs. President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian of the Islamic Republic of Iran went on tour of the mosque's facilities, such as the library, lecture hall and other facilities. At the conclusion of his visit, the Iranian President signed the VIP visitors' register, expressing his admiration of the mosque's designs and architectural artistry, which represent an outstanding example of Islamic architectural arts and its role in supporting and enhancing Islamic studies. The Iranian President was accompanied during the visit by several officials from both sides.

Nominations open for 12th Sultan Qaboos Award
Muscat – The Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science at the Diwan of Royal Court has announced the opening of nominations for the 12th edition of the Sultan Qaboos Award for Culture, Arts and Literature 2025. This edition is open to Omanis and all Arabs, with competition categories including Private Cultural Institutions (Culture), Sculpture (Arts), and Autobiography (Literature). The prestigious award is presented annually and alternates between an Arab edition – open to Omanis and Arabs – and an exclusive Omani edition. It is divided into three main categories – Culture, Arts and Literature – covering a wide range of disciplines. The Culture category includes fields such as language, history, heritage, philosophy, translation, and intellectual, economic, sociological, and environmental studies. The Arts category encompasses music, visual arts, sculpture, photography, acting, directing, and related disciplines. The Literature category covers poetry, novels, short stories, literary criticism, playwriting, and essays. The Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science oversees all aspects of the award, including category selection, nomination timelines, jury formation and the final awards ceremony. Aimed at fostering intellectual and creative excellence, the award promotes scientific development, cultural enrichment, and artistic innovation, while honouring individuals who contribute to human civilisation through knowledge and creativity. Nominations can be submitted online with each winner receiving the medal, along with a cash prize of RO100,000.

Muscat: The Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science at the Diwan of Royal Court on Wednesday announced the opening of nominations for the 12th edition of the Sultan Qaboos Award for Culture, Arts and Literature 2025. Both Omanis and other Arab counterparts in the fields of 'Private Cultural Institutions' (for the Culture category), 'Sculpture' (for the Arts category) and 'Autobiography' (for the Literature category). The Sultan Qaboos Award for Culture, Arts and Literature is a bi-yearly trophy that is awarded in one year to Omanis only and in the following edition to Omanis and Arabs together, consecutively.
