Okaloosa County School District joins Summer Food Service Program
OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Okaloosa County School District proudly announced its participation in the Summer Food Service Program through Summer Break Spot. According to an Okaloosa County School District Facebook post, this summer, children 18 and under may enjoy nutritious breakfast and lunch at no cost at select schools across the district. Some sites begin service as soon as Monday, June 2. Holmes County offering free meals to students during summer break Following USDA/FDACS guidelines, meals must be eaten on site, meaning grab-and-go options are not available. Additionally, no meals will be served on weekends or on July 4, district officials wrote. Families are encouraged to check back on the Okaloosa County School District Facebook often, as site times and availability may change based on participation. 20 spots left for the free Keystone Summer Camp
BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – The Salvation Army is looking for children to attend the Keystone Summer Camp. The camp offers children a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. The Salvation Army branches around Florida are designated certain weeks when they can offer local kids a spot. Panama City received 50 spots this year, 20 are still open. Summer BreakSpot program returns to Bay District Schools offering free meals for youth The one-week free camp is located on the beautiful Bedford Lakes, with more than 260 acres of peaceful space. Kids can learn life skills while enjoying a variety of extracurricular activities. 'It's this amazing facility that kids can come for the entire week during the summer and spend time learning all different kind of things like swimming, playing. They have three meals a day. They have all different kind of tracks that kids choose when they get to camp on the first day. And then, based on that, is what they learn during the week. It is a completely free week for parents, kids need to be from 6 to 12 years old, and then parents just have to apply,' Salvation Army Captain Niurka Pena said. Summer BreakSpot program returns to Bay District Schools offering free meals for youth
BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Bay District Schools announced they are proud to once again participate in the Summer BreakSpot program. This program provides free, nutritious meals to children and teens 18 years old and under while school is out for summer. According to district officials, no application is needed. Meals will be available from June 2 to August 5, 2025, at selected schools and community locations throughout our area. Breakfast and lunch will be served most weekdays, with all meals required to be eaten on site. Adult meals will not be provided. Important note for BDS school sites: Parents must visit the front office on Monday to obtain a weekly Raptor Pass, which grants access to that campus's meal program.
