The slippery Brock Lesnar slope WWE chose to take on

It's complicated with Brock Lesnar. The seven-time WWE world champion made a stunning return and delivered an F5 to John Cena to close a two-night SummerSlam, whose final scene at MetLife Stadium on Sunday kicked off the last chapter of their rivalry. Advertisement It was Lesnar's first appearance on WWE television since SummerSlam 2023 and first since being named in the bombshell sexual assault and sex trafficking lawsuit against former WWE boss Vince McMahon. Lesnar is not a defendant in the suit brought by former WWE employee Janel Grant, nor has he been accused of a crime, but his name, which was officially revealed in an updated complaint in February, appears 44 times.

After being away since SummerSlam 2023, he surprised everyone by attacking John Cena, just minutes after Cena lost the Undisputed WWE Title to Cody Rhodes. UFC legends Daniel Cormier and Chael Sonnen spoke about Lesnar's comeback on Cormier's Mightycast podcast, noting how Lesnar's new long‑haired look and his sheer presence still make him a top star. They said it felt like Lesnar could still lead the WWE show. UFC legend Daniel Cormier and Chael Sonnen on Brock Lesnar's return Daniel Cormier and Chael Sonnen began their discussion by recalling Lesnar's entrance at SummerSlam Night Two. Cormier said the show 'delivered' when Lesnar came back. Sonnen agreed and noted that WWE tweaked Lesnar's appearance slightly adding long hair and the crowd loved it. He said: 'They pop for him … they tweaked him a little bit with the hair. I thought it worked.' Daniel Cormier added that Lesnar 'looked tremendous' and still seems like someone who 'could run the WWE.' His tone made it clear: even after two years away, Lesnar's presence feels dominant and very much in control. Brock Lesnar's comeback context and legal background Brock Lesnar had not appeared on WWE since he lost to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2023. WWE pulled him from shows, including Royal Rumble 2024, after Brock's name surfaced in the Janel Grant lawsuit against Vince McMahon. Lesnar was mentioned in the amended complaint filed in February 2025. That legal issue had kept him off TV. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The World's Oldest Living Actors. Is Brock Lesnar Back In WWE? Reason Behind His SummerSlam Appearance Explained

The WWE SummerSlam held its biggest surprise till the absolute end when Brock Lesnar, one of the icons in the company's history, made an appearance. Though Lesnar hasn't wrestled in WWE since losing to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2023, his appearance came out as a big surprise as no rumour or media report had hinted about his return. Lesnar has been out of action after his name came up in early 2024 in the Janel Grant lawsuit involving WWE and Vince McMahon. However, a return at the end of the SummerSlam is a big hint about what the future may hold for him. As per Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select even those inside the WWE circle weren't aware of his return on Sunday. "The John Cena vs Cody Rhodes main event was being kept very quiet, even from writers, producers, staff, and production crew," he said. "As of [Sunday] evening, a number of those same people still hadn't heard anything about Brock Lesnar, and wondered if The Rock was making an appearance." Lesnar was written off storylines by the WWE even though he was never named as a defendant and hasn't faced any criminal charges in the Janel Grant case. Lesnar was to feature in both the 2024 Royal Rumble and WrestleMania XL match with Guntherbut the lawsuit forced those in charge to write him off the storyline. BROCK. LESNAR. IS. BACK. HERE COMES THE PAIN! — WWE (@WWE) August 4, 2025 His surprise re-entry into the storyline doesn't answer many questions but it does hint that a resolution has been achieved. As per Wrestling Observer Radio, Lesnar has been cleared from the legal aspect; hence, efforts are being made to add him to the storyline. "Four weeks ago, WWE Legal cleared him (Brock Lesnar). As far as why, I don't know," said Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. "Obviously everything relates to the Janel Grant lawsuit, and WWE Legal is either confident that their thing goes to arbitration and Lesnar's not a factor at that point. Or they're close to a settlement, and at that point, Lesnar's not a factor."

When Did WWE Legal Clear Brock Lesnar For His Return At SummerSlam? Revealed

Last Updated: Brock Lesnar returned to WWE at SummerSlam 2025 after a two-year hiatus due to legal issues, setting up a potential feud with John Cena during Cena's farewell tour. Brock Lesnar has made a spectacular return to WWE, ending his two-year hiatus in dramatic fashion at the conclusion of SummerSlam 2025. Known as 'The Beast Incarnate," Lesnar had been away from the ring due to his involvement in the Janel Grant–Vince McMahon lawsuit. Now that the legal matters are resolved, Lesnar is back in WWE storylines, sparking significant excitement. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio reported that Lesnar was legally cleared to return by WWE about four weeks before his SummerSlam comeback. Meltzer stated, 'Four weeks ago, WWE Legal cleared him (Brock Lesnar)" and noted that WWE avoided press conferences to keep his return a secret. Lesnar's last WWE appearance was at SummerSlam 2023, where he lost to Cody Rhodes. Appropriately, he made his comeback just as Rhodes defeated John Cena in a brutal Street Fight to win the Undisputed WWE Championship on Night 2 of SummerSlam 2025. As Cena stood alone, Lesnar's entrance music played, stunning the crowd. He entered the ring and delivered a devastating F-5 to Cena, setting the stage for a high-profile feud. Triple H later revealed that Cena specifically requested to work with Lesnar during his farewell tour. A Lesnar vs. Cena showdown now seems likely to be his first major programme. However, Cena is not the only potential target. In January 2024, former WWE employee Janel Grant sued McMahon, alleging that the wrestling company's founder was involved in sex trafficking and subjected her to sexual acts characterised by 'extreme cruelty and degradation." The lawsuit also mentions Lesnar, alleging that McMahon offered Grant to him for sexual encounters. A spokesperson told USA TODAY Sports that Lesnar's return is an 'attempt to sweep misconduct under the rug." 'For far too long, abuse was allowed to thrive under WWE's leadership. Instead of addressing this issue, WWE has done nothing to hold those responsible accountable. This attempt to sweep misconduct under the rug will backfire," the spokesperson said. 'We look forward to the full set of facts, including those concerning Mr. Lesnar, being revealed in a court of law where they belong." view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. John Cena's epic WWE SummerSlam performance washed out by Brock Lesnar's shock return

John Cena's time in WWE is soon coming to a close, and he spectacularly passed the torch to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam — no heel turn needed. But that's not what the night will be remembered for. Brock Lesnar made a shocking return to the company. It's his first appearance since he wrestled at SummerSlam 2023 and since being named in the bombshell sexual assault and sex trafficking lawsuit against former WWE boss Vince McMahon in January 2024. Advertisement There will be plenty to say about the merits of bringing Lesnar back, but it was quite the way to blow the proverbial roof off MetLife Stadium and an announced crowd of 60,561 to end Night 2 on Sunday.
