Lana Del Rey's Early Career Smash Is A Timely Hit Yet Again

Lana Del Rey's 'Summertime Sadness' returns to the U.K.'s Official Streaming chart as warmer weather ... More boosts plays, helping Born to Die climb three tallies. LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - MARCH 07: Lana Del Rey attends W Magazine and Louis Vuitton's Academy Awards Dinner at a Private Residence on March 07, 2024 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo byfor W Magazine) Lana Del Rey has been promoting her upcoming album for almost a year now, and she's already delivered a handful of singles from the project. Fans still don't know what it will be called or when it will arrive, as she has changed its release date and title multiple times. While anticipation builds for the alternative superstar's next studio effort, her followers continue to revisit the project that started it all, and what may be considered her breakout hit single. This week in the United Kingdom, Del Rey claims one charting single, as 'Summertime Sadness' returns to the Official Streaming chart, and it's not hard to guess why. The tune naturally sees a spike in activity as spring transitions into summer, and it's one of a handful of cuts by Del Rey that have reached well beyond her core fanbase. Streams of the popular composition — which was made famous in part by a Cedric Gervais remix — increase when the weather turns warm. In the past, 'Summertime Sadness' has only peaked at No. 77 on the Official Streaming chart, which ranks the most successful tunes on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and others across the U.K. It has spent 30 weeks on the tally throughout its lifetime. 'Summertime Sadness' is featured on Del Rey's breakout album Born to Die. That set can almost always be found on the charts in the U.K., so it's not shocking to see it appear on multiple lists. This week, the project climbs — perhaps thanks to an increase in plays of the single. Born to Die improves on all three rankings on which it appears, albeit slightly. It gains the most ground on the Official Albums Sales chart, jumping from No. 65 to No. 50. It almost mirrors that movement on the Official Physical Albums list, pushing ahead 14 spaces to also settle at No. 50. The title, which helped introduce Del Rey and her signature alternative pop style back in 2012, only manages to advance a pair of spots on the Official Albums chart, where it comes in at No. 56.

Lana Del Rey drops Morgan Wallen hook-up confession, disses country star during Stagecoach performance

Lana Del Rey made a surprising confession during her Stagecoach performance over the weekend. During her set on Saturday, the "Summertime Sadness" singer – who married alligator tour guide Jeremy Dufrene in September – revealed she once kissed Morgan Wallen while debuting her new song, "57.5." In a video shared to social media, Del Rey told the crowd, "This is the last time I'm ever going to say this line" before singing, "I kissed Morgan Wallen/ I guess kissing me kind of went to his head/ If you want my secret to success/ I suggest don't go ATV'ing with him when you're out west." Fox News Digital has reached out to Wallen for comment. Del Rey also seemed to reference her husband in the song, telling the crowd, "he's a fan of mine." This isn't the first time the 39-year-old artist has called out her exes through music. The singer changed the lyrics to her song "Chemtrails Over the Country Club" during a July 2023 performance, leading fans to believe she was singing about her ex, Sean "Sticks" Larkin, a retired Tulsa police officer and former "Live PD" star. "He's born in December, and he got married when we were still together," Del Rey sang, according to Entertainment Weekly. "Sometimes I wonder what his wife would think if she knew that I didn't know anything / He's born in December and I'm born in June / He's born in December and he got married while we were in couple's therapy together." Larkin was born on Dec. 7 and married Carey Cadieux in January 2022. Larkin and Del Rey had reportedly called it quits in March 2020, with Larkin telling the New York Times they were "just friends" who "still talk and whatnot, we just have busy schedules right now." Del Rey later addressed the breakup from Larkin in a 2021 Instagram Live, telling fans she "thought it was the end of the world." "He was perceived as everything that I wasn't, sunshine-y and on the right side of the law, and it just broke my heart, the whole idea of just everything disintegrating…" the singer said, according to Entertainment Weekly. "Relationships completely break people, they really do. Even if you go on to the next one, it's not like it gets better."

Lana Del Rey admits to kissing country star Morgan Wallen in new song debut: ‘Kind of went to his head'

Lana Del Rey made a surprising admission about country music star Morgan Wallen at the 2025 Stagecoach Festival in Indio, California, overnight. 'I kissed Morgan Wallen,' the singer said while singing lyrics to her new song, 57.5. 'I guess kissing me kind of went to his head,' she continued, a clip of the performance revealed. 'If you want my secret to success, I suggest [you] don't go ATVing with him when you're out west.' Reps for Del Rey and Wallen did not immediately respond to Page Six 's requests for comment. It's unclear as to why Del Rey — who married husband Jeremy Dufrene in September 2024 — chose to mention Wallen during her performance. The Summertime Sadness singer tied the knot with the alligator tour guide in an intimate ceremony in front of their family and friends in Des Allemandes, Louisiana. She and Dufrene were first romantically linked after a TikTok video of them holding hands surfaced last summer. The pair have allegedly known each other for many years, according to a Facebook photo they appeared in together dated in 2019. Meanwhile, Wallen's list of romantic partners — which includes stars like Megan Moroney and Kristin Cavallari — has helped earn him the reputation of a 'playa from the Himalayas,' as musical artist Bunnie XO called him. The Whiskey Glasses hitmaker is also dad to son Indigo, whom he shares with ex-girlfriend Katie 'KT' Smith. The two were in a relationship from 2016 to 2019. Wallen proposed to Smith in 2017, but the pair ultimately called it quits.

Lana Del Rey pushes back album release, reveals title has changed

Lana Del Rey, who first announced her album The Right Person Will Stay last November, has revealed that the project will be delayed — and it will arrive with a brand new title. However, Del Rey seemingly deleted her announcement just a few hours after posting it. The Summertime Sadness hitmaker shared a reel on Instagram where she updated fans about the change. The Cinnamon Girl singer admitted the album was originally titled Lasso. "I'm really happy for this album to be moving along," she said. "I do have a lot more to say [about] that I mean, you do know it's not going to come on time right?" "Like should I even tell you that the name changed again?" she added with a smile. "Should I tell you that now, while you're so happy you even have a song? Yeah, maybe I'll wait." The upcoming record was highly anticipated by fans, but the last-minute changes and delays have not gone down well with everyone. Some expressed their frustration online. One user commented, "LMFAOO there she goes again 😭." Another joked, "Rihanna 2.0 guys, it's never coming." Oops — hopefully not! Despite the mixed reactions, excitement for Lana's next chapter remains strong. Whenever it finally drops, fans are still eagerly looking forward to new music from the iconic artist. In the meantime, Lana is set to perform at the Stagecoach Film Festival in California later this month. She will also embark on her first stadium tours in the UK and Ireland this year, visiting major cities like London, Cardiff, Dublin, Liverpool, and Glasgow.

Lana Del Rey Causes a Stir With Dreamy, Country-Inspired New Single

The reigning queen of pop ballads, Lana Del Rey, is teasing her next album with her first new song in quite a while. The song is "Henry, come on," a break-up anthem, which has a bit more country influence than some of Del Rey's previous hit songs. There's even a "giddy up" in the song a few times. Del Rey's next album, The Right Person Will Stay, is slated to come out in just over a month, on May 21. So far, "Henry, come on," is the only song Del Rey has released for this next album. View the to see embedded media. Probably best known for her hits like "Summertime Sadness" and "Young and Beautiful," Del Rey's smoky and ethereal stylings have made her as popular, though sometimes divisive. In some ways, Del Rey is the anti-Taylor Swift, insofar as her songs tend to move away from pop hits, and, often, closer to James Bond-esque theme songs. In fact, last May, Del Rey revealed that her 2015 song "24 Hours" was written intentionally as a possible James Bond theme song, saying, 'I wrote that for them," she told Rolling Stone in 2024. Del Rey had hoped that "24 Hours" would be selected for the film Spectre, though Sam Smith's "Writing's on the Wall" ended up being the opener for that film. But, to this day, Del Rey's entire album Honeymoon has serious Bond vibes. That said, the new song "Henry, come on," makes it seem like Del Rey is maybe moving in a more alt-country direction. Either way, the new song is solid. When The Right Person Will Stay hits on May 21, we'll be listening.
