Delhi: MCD holds 120 property-tax camps to promote compliance under SUNIYO amnesty scheme
NEW DELHI: In a bid to facilitate taxpayers and encourage compliance, the MCD has organised 120 property-tax camps across its 12 zones. According to a statement issued by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the initiative aims at helping property owners file their taxes and take advantage of the ongoing Property Tax Amnesty Scheme 2025-26 -- Sumpattikar Niptaan Yojana (SUNIYO). The MCD said the camps witnessed active participation from residents, reflecting a growing interest in the scheme. Encouraged by the response, the civic body plans to hold more such camps in the coming days to ensure wider outreach and participation, it stated. Under SUNIYO, property owners can get a full waiver on tax dues, including interest and penalties, pending till the financial year 2019-20, the statement said. It added that to qualify, taxpayers must pay the principal amount for the current financial year (2025-26) and the previous five years -- from 2020-21 to 2024-25 -- without any interest or penalty. For further assistance, the MCD has set up a dedicated helpline number to address queries and guide citizens through the process, according to the statement. No adjournment, every councillor gets to speak at first meeting of MCD House

As part of its preventive strategy, the MCD has carried out fogging and spraying operations in 3,19,137 households, focusing on sensitive and high-risk areas, it said. A significant stockpile of insecticides and chemicals, including 40,028 kg of Temephos granules, 8,496 kg of Alphacypermethrin, and 14,158 litres of mosquito larvicidal oil (MLO), has been maintained to support the operations. Additionally, 13,000 bottles of 100 ml liquid chlorine are currently available, with 69,000 more bottles to be procured soon. To bolster community awareness, an intensified IEC (information, education and communication) campaign is underway using leaflets, banners, bulk SMS, radio broadcasts, and free hoardings. Water quality samples are also being regularly taken in sensitive locations, while oral rehydration salts (ORS) and chlorine are being distributed in vulnerable areas. Field staff are actively visiting homes to educate residents about the importance of not allowing clean water to accumulate in coolers, pots, and overhead tanks, which can become breeding grounds for mosquitoes, the civic body said. The MCD is also working with residents' welfare associations (RWAs) to promote safe water storage practices. In terms of medical preparedness, Hindu Rao Hospital, Swami Dayanand Hospital, and Kasturba Hospital have been declared sentinel surveillance hospitals. Beds have been reserved for dengue, malaria, and chikungunya cases, with provisions to increase capacity if needed. These facilities are provided with essential medicines, IV fluids, ORS, and platelets, and have 24×7 access to diagnostic and treatment services. The MCD has also begun setting up fever clinics in its dispensaries and hospitals to ensure early diagnosis and treatment. A dedicated workforce is engaged in anti-larval operations, indoor residual spraying, and disease surveillance. The civic body has flagged Civil Lines, Urban Sadar, Pahar Ganj, and Shahdara (North) as high-risk zones for the spread of vector-borne and waterborne illnesses, and is maintaining heightened vigilance in these areas. New Delhi: Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Wednesday introduced a one-time property tax amnesty scheme to allow owners to clear outstanding dues without paying any interest and penalties. The proposal, tabled by commissioner Ashwani Kumar, was approved in the House meeting. The scheme, ' Sumpattikar Niptaan Yojana ', will be implemented from June 1 till Sept 30. To avail its benefits, the taxpayers, including residential and commercial, must pay their dues from the past five years – 2021-22 to 2024-25 – as well as the current fiscal 2025-26. "On the payment of the principal amount from 2021 to 2026, all previous dues prior to the financial year 2020-21, including interest and penalty, will be waived. The taxpayer has to file an online PTR by accessing the link for the purpose on the MCD website. The property tax owners or occupiers having multiple unique property identification numbers for the same property are advised to get them merged by accessing the MCD website. There shall be a helpline number 91-7065064988 in MCD to facilitate the taxpayers," stated the proposal. MCD has issued 'no dues' certificates to 90,987 taxpayers.
