Boston police are asking for the public's help to identify a group of people in connection with the theft of 41 pairs of sunglasses collectively worth $19,750. The theft happened at around 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday in the area of 335 Newbury St., police said in a short statement. This address is the location of a Sunglass Hut. The Boston Police Department is investigating the theft and asks that anyone with information about the incident call detectives at 617-343-5619. Anyone who wants to submit a tip anonymously can do so through the CrimeStoppers Tip Line by calling 1-800-494-TIPS or text 'TIP' to CRIME (27463). More than 40 pairs of sunglasses worth nearly $20,000 stolen from Boston store

Boston Police are looking for a group of brazen thieves who they say walked into a high-end store and stole nearly $20,000 worth of sunglasses in the middle of the day. Police released surveillance photos of six people Thursday that they're trying to identify in the heist at the Sunglass Hut shop on Newbury Street. Six people wanted in a larceny at Sunglass Hut on May 14, 2025 in Boston. Boston Police Department Investigators said the group went into the store in Boston's Back Bay around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday and stole 41 pairs of sunglasses. Police said the sunglasses are worth a total of $19,750. Anyone who recognizes the people in the photos, or has information about them, is asked to called the CrimeStoppers Tip Line at 1-800-494-TIPS. Tips can also be texted anonymously with "TIP" to CRIME (27463) or online at the CrimeStoppers website. Open Newbury Street Newbury Street is home to some of the most expensive stores in Boston. It's a also a popular spot for tourists and shopping. Boston is bringing back its Open Newbury event this summer, where cars and trucks are banned on select Sundays. On these days, Newbury Street will be closed to vehicles from Berkeley Street to Massachusetts Avenue. Parking will also be banned from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Any vehicles left after 5 a.m. on those days will be towed. Visitors are encouraged to walk, bike or use public transit. For those who need to drive, parking garages are available near Copley Square. Open Newbury will be held on Sundays in July, August and September and on one Sunday in December for holiday shopping.

Thieves hit Southern California Sunglass Hut, steal $30K in merchandise

Law enforcement in San Bernardino County arrested three of seven suspects who reportedly stormed a Sunglass Hut location and made off with 11 pairs of sunglasses worth $30,000, officials announced Thursday. The April 26 incident, according to a news release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, unfolded at around 2 p.m. at 13850 City Center Drive in Chino Hills. Authorities said the suspects fled the area at high speeds in two separate vehicles. 'One of the suspect vehicles was located and pursued until the vehicle became disabled, in the county area of Fontana,' the release detailed. Three suspects, two adults and a juvenile, attempted to flee on foot but were soon located and taken into custody. The two adults were identified as 18-year-old Rialto resident Deprice Battles and 18-year-old Victorville resident Devonte Moore, while the juvenile was only identified as a Victorville resident. Terrifying murder mystery unfolding at upscale L.A. apartment complex In a search of the vehicle, 72 pairs of the stolen sunglasses were recovered, authorities said. Moore and Battles were booked at the West Valley Detention Center for commercial burglary. The juvenile was booked for commercial burglary at San Bernardino County Juvenile Hall. An investigation into the retail theft is ongoing and detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department's Chino Hills Station at 909-364-2000.
