Thumbay Lab for AI revolutionises healthcare education
In a significant stride towards the future of medical education and healthcare innovation, the Thumbay College of Management and AI in Healthcare at Gulf Medical University (GMU) has inaugurated the state-of-the-art Thumbay Lab for AI in Healthcare. The event took place at the university's Library main foyer and was attended by dignitaries, faculty members, industry partners, and students. The ceremony was graced by Sunjay Sudhir, Ambassador of India to the UAE, as the chief guest, and presided over by Dr Thumbay Moideen, founder president of Thumbay Group. This cutting-edge facility is designed to support and enhance existing AI programmes at GMU, providing a dynamic learning and research hub for students, faculty, and healthcare professionals. It offers access to advanced tools and technologies that enable learners to explore real-world AI applications across diagnostics, healthcare operations, medical decision-making, and patient care. The lab is a key infrastructure addition under the Thumbay College of Management and AI in healthcare and complements a suite of academic programmes, including master in AI and health informatics, certificate course in AI in Healthcare and certificate course in Generative AI in healthcare. Speaking at the occasion, Dr Thumbay Moideen stated: 'This lab reflects our commitment to integrating artificial intelligence into every aspect of medical education and healthcare delivery. It will serve as a catalyst for innovation, supporting students and researchers as they develop solutions that shape the future of healthcare.' Prof. Manda Venkatramana, acting chancellor of Gulf Medical University and vice chancellor – academics, added: 'This lab will significantly enrich the academic experience of our students by giving them hands-on exposure to emerging technologies. It also opens new avenues for collaborative research, innovation, and real-world problem solving in healthcare.' NMDC expands global footprint with its new office in Dubai, forging global pathways in mining
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], July 1 (ANI): NMDC, India's largest iron ore producer, marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of its new international office in Dubai, UAE on Tuesday. This strategic expansion fortifies NMDC's global presence and propels its vision to become a multinational mining powerhouse, the company said in a release. The office was inaugurated by the Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy, Minister of Steel, and Heavy Industries, in the presence of HE Sunjay Sudhir, Ambassador of India to the UAE. The Dubai office will serve as a strategic hub for NMDC, actively tracking developments in the mineral sectors across the MENA region, Africa, and Australia, including regulatory changes and government policies. It will focus on scouting mineral assets, conducting technical due diligence, and facilitating engagements with government bodies, business partners, and research institutions. By providing real-time market intelligence and timely decision support, the office will enable NMDC's leadership to respond swiftly to global opportunities.
