Al-Azhar Welcomes Barcelona's Decision to Cut Ties with Israel
Mohamed Mandour Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism on Saturday welcomed a decision by the municipality of Barcelona to sever all ties with Israel, describing it as a 'bold and historic stance' in protest against what it called an ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip. In a statement, the Observatory praised Barcelona's suspension of its twinning agreement with Tel Aviv — originally signed in 1998 — and the city's decision to halt cooperation with companies linked to Israel. The municipality also pledged to review existing contracts with entities potentially involved, directly or indirectly, in supporting military operations against Palestinians. The move, Al-Azhar said, reflects 'a genuine commitment to the principles of justice and human rights' and 'a deep sense of human responsibility' in confronting 'Zionist violations against innocent civilians in Gaza.' The Observatory also commended the Spanish government's broader support for the Palestinian cause and called for increased political and diplomatic pressure to isolate what it described as a 'terrorist entity' responsible for 'crimes unparalleled in modern history.' Al-Azhar, the highest seat of Sunni Islamic learning, has been vocal in its condemnation of the war in Gaza and continues to advocate for international action to end the bloodshed. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan

Lebanese Sunni Islamic Scholar Aboubaker Zahabi In Beirut Protest: We Say To The 'Sons Of Zion' – Our Religion Is The Religion Of Jihad; We Will Come To You And Slaughter You
Lebanese Sunni Islamic scholar Aboubaker Zahabi, speaking at a Beirut protest in support of the people of Palestine, aired on Palestine Today TV (Palestinian Islamic Jihad) on April 7, 2025, said, "Our religion is the religion of Jihad," and declared that they will come to slaughter the "sons of Zion." He quoted the hadith which states that Muslims will fight the Jews at the End of Days, and the Jews will hide behind trees and rocks. Zahabi added that on Judgment Day, Allah will send the "sons of Zion" to Hellfire for eternity, while the martyrs will be in Paradise and the fate of the Muslims will be victory. Aboubaker Zahabi: "My last message is to the sons of Zion – know that you and we are going to have two encounters. The first encounter will be on the battlefield in Palestine. The Prophet Muhammad said: 'Judgement Day will not come until Muslims fight the Jews, and the Jews will hide behind trees and rocks, but the trees and the rocks will say: 'Oh Muslim, oh servant of Allah, there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him'.' We will come to you and we will slaughter you – our religion is the religion of Jihad. "Our religion is the religion of the victory that was promised by Allah. This will be our first encounter. The second encounter will be when we meet you in front of Allah, on Judgement Day. You will be punished for your crimes, along with all those who were silent and conspired with you, regardless of where they were or in what position they were. You will be held to account and you will remain in Hellfire for eternity. "That will be your fate, while the fate of the martyrs will be Paradise, and the fate of the Muslims will be victory. Even if [victory] is delayed a little, it will surely come – that is what our Lord has promised us, and that is what His prophet promised us, and their promise is true. [The Quran says:] 'The promise of Allah is truth.' Victory is coming."

Egypt's Islamic Religious Institutes Condemn Israeli Government's Decision to Halt Humanitarian Aid to Gaza Strip
CAIRO – 4 March 2025: Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, the Egyptian Ministry of Endowments, and Dar Al-Iftaa (Islamic Fatwas) have condemned the Israeli government's decision to block humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip and to close the crossings used for relief efforts. In a statement, Al-Azhar, Egypt's leading Sunni Islamic institution, denounced the decision by the Zionist occupation forces to halt the entry of humanitarian and relief aid convoys into Gaza. Al-Azhar stated that the Israeli authorities, by depriving innocent men, women, and children of food and basic necessities, are demonstrating an utter disregard for mercy, human dignity, and the sanctity of the blessed month of Ramadan, during which Muslims abstaining from eating and drinking from dawn to sunset. The institution condemned the exploitation of these religious practices as a means to inflict further suffering. Al-Azhar emphasized that denying food and aid to fasting individuals is a reprehensible crime, according to the tenets of Islam, which calls for justice and divine punishment for such actions both in this world and the hereafter. The statement also condemned the silence of those in power who have the ability to halt these actions and the support extended to those perpetrating these crimes. Al-Azhar urged the governments of Islamic countries to leverage their diplomatic and political influence to end the oppressive siege on Gaza, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. The siege aims to force Palestinians into a dire situation, where they must choose between starvation or leaving Gaza, allowing the occupying entity to further entrench its hold over the land. The institution called on Islamic countries and the international community to fulfill their moral and historical responsibilities to end this unjust blockade. It demanded the immediate opening of Gaza's crossings, the facilitation of aid convoys, and the accountability of Israeli authorities for their war crimes. Al-Azhar called for a trial of those responsible for the heinous crimes committed in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office recently announced that the flow of aid into Gaza would cease immediately, as the first phase of the Hamas-Israeli ceasefire agreement expired on Saturday at midnight. However, Tel Aviv has approved a temporary extension of the ceasefire for an additional six weeks, coinciding with both the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and the Jewish Pesach holiday. Meanwhile, Osama Al-Azhari, the Egyptian Minister of Endowments, strongly condemned the Israeli decision, describing it as a blatant violation of international laws and norms. He emphasized that such actions exacerbate the suffering of the Palestinian people, particularly during Ramadan. The Minister stressed that depriving innocent people of food and medicine constitutes a humanitarian crime, violating both divine laws and international conventions designed to protect civilians in times of conflict. He warned that continued restrictions on aid will only worsen the suffering of vulnerable groups, such as women, children, and the elderly, who face life-threatening conditions. The Minister called for immediate action from the international community and humanitarian organizations to pressure the Israeli authorities to allow the safe and timely delivery of aid to Gaza. He further emphasized that ignoring these violations is tantamount to complicity with the occupation and its moral and humanitarian transgressions. The Minister urged all international actors to take a firm stand to end the injustice faced by the Palestinian people, asserting their right to live with dignity and to establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders. Additionally, Dr. Nazir Muhammad Ayyad, Grand Mufti of the Republic and Head of the General Secretariat of Fatwa Authorities and Institutions in the World, condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli decision to block the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza and close the crossings used for relief efforts. Grand Imam of Azhar wishes Pope Francis speedy recovery
Sheikh Ahmed Tayeb welcomed Pope Francis in Cairo in 2017 CAIRO – 23 February 2025: The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb wished Pope Francis of the vatican a speedy recovry. 'I pray to Allah to grant my dear brother, Pope Francis, a swift recovery and to bless him with good health and well-being so that he may continue his journey in serving humanity,' Sheikh Al-Tayeb said on his Facebook page on Sunday. Pope Francis has been admitted to Rome's Gemelli hospital, where he is being treated from pneumonia, the Vatican News reported Holy See Press Office on February 22, 2025. It added that Pope's condition is very critcal and 'the Pope is not out of danger' and the blood tests also showed 'thrombocytopenia, associated with anemia.' Last year in February, the Grand Imam praised Pope Francis as a man of humanity of a high caliber in a meeting on Thursday with a US religious dialogue delegation. Al-Tayeb said the convergence of visions with Pope Francis led us to create the Document on Human Fraternity, which took a full year of hard work to come out to the world in its current form. Pope Francis and Al-Tayeb signed the Document of Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together in February 2019 in Abu Dhabi, UAE, with the aim of promoting coexistence among religions. Since Pope Francis assumed the papacy of the Holy See, relations between Al-Azhar, a leading Sunni Islamic institute representing over 2 billion people worldwide, and the Vatican has improved and resumed after several years of tension. This restoration followed the accusations made by Al-Azhar against the late Pope Benedict XVI, who was criticized for 'addressing Islam negatively.' Additionale reporting by Amr Mohamed Kandil
